    • Butler hits another winning 3 as Sixers rally past Nets
      November 25, 2018
      By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) Jimmy Butler made a 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds remaining to give the Philadelphia 76ers a 127-125 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

Butler's shot from the right wing, similar to the one that beat Charlotte in overtime on Nov. 17, capped Philadelphia's rally from 20 points down in a game the Nets led nearly all the way.

Butler finished with 34 points and 12 rebounds, and Joel Embiid had 32 points and 12 boards for the 76ers.

D'Angelo Russell had 38 points, his highest total with the Nets, and added eight assists and eight rebounds. Spencer Dinwiddie scored 31 points off the bench.

      MAGIC 108, LAKERS 104

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Nikola Vucevic had 31 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists and Terrence Ross made a go-ahead lay-up with 34 seconds left to help Orlando beat Los Angeles.

Ross scored 16 points as the Magic defeated the Lakers for the second time in eight days. Orlando won 130-117 at home on Nov. 17.

Aaron Gordon had 17 points and D.J. Augustin added 12 points and nine assists for the Magic.

LeBron James had 24 points and seven assists for the Lakers, who had won three straight games and six of their past seven. Kyle Kuzma scored 21 points and Brandon Ingram added 17.

      RAPTORS 125, HEAT 115

TORONTO (AP) - Kawhi Leonard had 29 points and 10 rebounds, Kyle Lowry added 12 points and 10 assists, and Toronto won its fifth straight game.

Jonas Valanciunas had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Pascal Siakam scored 21 points, two shy of his career high, as the Raptors improved their NBA-leading record to 17-4.

Dwyane Wade scored a season-high 35 points, the most ever by a Miami bench player. Josh Richardson scored 19 points and Bam Adebayo had 16 points and a career-high 21 rebounds, but the Heat lost for the seventh time in nine games.

      KNICKS 103, GRIZZLIES 98

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Enes Kanter had a career-high 26 rebounds and scored 21 points, Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with 22 points and New York overcame a poor shooting first half to beat Memphis.

Emmanuel Mudiay added 17 points, and Trey Burke had 15 to help the Knicks win their third straight in former Grizzles coach David Fizdale's return.

Marc Gasol led Memphis with 27 points and Mike Conley had 23 points. Jaren Jackson Jr. had 16 points and seven blocks, tying a franchise record for a Grizzlies rookie.

      CLIPPERS 104, TRAIL BLAZERS 100

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Tobias Harris had 34 points and 11 rebounds, and Los Angeles beat Portland.

Danilo Gallinari made the tiebreaking jumper with 47 seconds left and added 17 points for the Clippers.

Damian Lillard scored 30 points for Portland, which led by 13 at halftime but then had to play the second half without starting center Jusuf Nurkic because of a bruised shoulder.

      PISTONS 118, SUNS 107

DETROIT (AP) - Andre Drummond had 19 points and 16 rebounds, and Detroit pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Phoenix.

Devin Booker scored 37 points for Phoenix, and Detroit had a hard time shaking free of the Suns until a 15-3 run in the fourth. Blake Griffin had 16 points and 11 assists for the Pistons, and Reggie Jackson had 19 points and eight assists.

Deandre Ayton had 25 points for 13 rebounds for the Suns.

Phoenix forward T.J. Warren was ejected in the second quarter after receiving two technical fouls following an offensive foul call that went against him.

      HAWKS 124, HORNETS 123

ATLANTA (AP) - John Collins had 23 points and 11 rebounds and blocked Kemba Walker's runner as time expired, helping Atlanta snap a 10-game losing streak with a victory over Charlotte.

Walker, the NBA's second-leading scorer, hit a jumper to put Charlotte up by one with 47.5 seconds remaining, but he committed a shot-clock turnover on the next possession and finished 7 for 23 from the field for 22 points.

Kent Bazemore scored 20 points and hit the go-ahead basket for Atlanta, taking an inbound pass and driving down the left side past Dwayne Bacon for a layup with 4.6 seconds to go.

Malik Monk tied a career high with 26 points, and Marvin Williams added a season-high 13 rebounds and chipped in 20 points for the Hornets.

      JAZZ 133, KINGS 112

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Rudy Gobert had 18 points and 15 rebounds, Ricky Rubio scored 27 points and Utah beat Sacramento.

Joe Ingles added 18 points, Jae Crowder had 14 and Derrick Favors 11 to help the Jazz snap a three-game losing streak.

Utah won handily despite playing without leading scorer Donovan Mitchell, who sat out with bruised ribs.

Four days after losing to the Kings in Salt Lake City, the Jazz bounced back behind a fast start from Rubio then pulled away for their eighth consecutive road win in Sacramento.

Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 20 points in his first start this season for Sacramento. Marvin Bagley III added 18 points and six rebounds.

        • Seahawks 30, Panthers 27— Carolina had ball nine times in this game; they got inside Seattle 20-yard line on seven of those nine drives, but scored only 27 points, which isn’t good, and it cost them this game- they also missed a 51-yard FG on one of the two drives that didn’t get into the red zone. Panthers also fumbled five times, though they didn’t lose any of them.

Carolina lost its last three games, with no takeaways in any of them; this was their first home loss this season. Seattle passes the Panthers in Wild Card race; they’re 10-6-2 in last 18 games as a road underdog.

          Browns 35, Bengals 20
          — Maybe it is Hue Jackson’s fault; Browns won two of three games since they sent Jackson away, scoring 28-35 points in last two games. Bengals brought Jackson on as an assistant coach and haven’t won since, giving up 51-24-35 points in their last three games.

Cleveland’s offense in first half: 4 drives, 37 plays, 289 yards, four TD’s. They ran out the last 0:32 of the first half with a fifth drive.

Andy Dalton hurt his thumb in this game, as Cincy lost for 5th time in last six tries.

Browns ended a 25-game losing streak with this win.

Buccaneers 27, 49ers 9— This doesn’t happen much, but every so often, handicapping is a simple game. Saturday night, 49ers’ LB Reuben Foster was arrested at the team’s hotel and charged with domestic violence. The night before a game- brilliant!!! This makes the 49ers a go-against play.

49ers released Foster after the game.

Buccaneers gained 400+ yards for 6th time in last seven games, but won for first time in last five weeks. For once, they didn’t turn the ball over, going +3 in turnovers.

          Eagles 25, Giants 22:
          — Giants in first half: 5 drives, 38 plays, 346 yards, 19 points
          — Giants in second half: 5 drives, 22 plays, 56 yards, 3 points.
          — Philly was scoreless in first quarter for 5th game in a row.
          — Eagles won 17 of their last 21 games against the Giants.

Unless Saquon Barkley is hurt and Giants are hushing it up, they committed malpractice here by not feeding him the ball enough. 13 runs, 8 pass targets wasn’t near enough in this game and for the love of God, if you go for two points from the 1-yard line, give him the bleeping ball!!!!

Bills 24, Jaguars 21— This game was like a throwback to the 70’s; both teams ran for more yards than they threw for; Bills completed only 8 passes all day, but on an unseasonably warm day in western NY (44 degrees), Jacksonville lost its 7th game in a row.

Bills’ rookie QB Allen ran the ball 13 times for 99 yards; unless he learns to slide or get OB and avoid big hits, he is going to have a short NFL career. He’s got talent, but he’s got to preserve his health, or else……..

Ravens 34, Raiders 17— Speaking of running QB’s, Lamar Jackson toned it down in this game, running only 11 times, after 27 runs LW; Jackson is 2-0 as an NFL starter while Oakland lost for 6th time in its last seven games. Raiders are 15 for their last 55 on third down.

Patriots 27, Jets 13— New England is now 13-2 in last 15 series games; they gained 498 yards in this game, averaging 9.1 yards/pass attempt in a game where Jets had 10-yard advantage in field position. Patriots won last five series games played in the New Jersey swamp; they’re 14-7 vs spread in last 21 games as road favorites.

                  • Wall, Wizards beat Rockets 135-131 in OT despite Harden's 54
                    November 26, 2018
                    By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) John Wall scored a season-high 36 points, including six in overtime, and the Washington Wizards overcame James Harden's season-best 54 points to outlast the Houston Rockets 135-131 on Monday night.

Wall had two baskets in the extra period and finished with 11 assists. Bradley Beal equaled his season high with 32 points for the Wizards.

Otto Porter hit a runner with 4:37 to play for the first basket in overtime and the Wizards remained ahead from there. Wall followed with a jumper to make it 129-125 and later made another jumper that pushed the lead to five. Beal's jumper extended it to 133-126 with 1:50 to play.

Harden had 44 points through three quarters but missed five of his seven shots in the fourth. In overtime, Harden whose career high is 60, was 1 of 2 from the field and had two free throws. He had 11 turnovers, three in overtime.

Eric Gordon scored a season-high 36 for the short-handed Rockets, who played without Chris Paul for the second straight game.

                    WARRIORS 116, MAGIC 110

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Kevin Durant scored a season-high 49 points, giving Golden State the lead on a three-point play with 1:19 left before hitting a 3-pointer with 22 seconds remaining to send the Warriors past Orlando.

Durant topped his 44-point performance two nights earlier with another brilliant outing on both ends - and Klay Thompson was his scoring sidekick once more as the two-time defending NBA champions played without injured All-Stars Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

Thompson hit his sixth 3 of the night to tie it with 1:45 left and finished with 29 points.

Durant became the seventh player in Warriors history to post consecutive 40-point games - along with Rick Barry, Wilt Chamberlain, Curry, Antawn Jamison, Purvis Short and Thompson, according to Elias.

Nikola Vucevic had 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for the Magic, who coming off a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on the road Sunday.

                    CELTICS 124, PELICANS 107

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Kyrie Irving closed out a 26-point, 10-assist performance with a 3-pointer and a tough baseline fade over Anthony Davis, and Boston pulled away late for a victory over New Orleans.

Jayson Tatum, who scored 20, threw down a right-handed dunk while being fouled by Davis with 2:26 left, at which point Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry began subbing out starters and fans started filing out, resigned to just New Orleans' second loss in 10 home games this season.

Davis finished with 27 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks, Nikola Mirotic hit six 3s as part of his 25 points, and Julius Randle added 15 points from the bench, but that wasn't enough to end what is now a four-game losing streak for New Orleans.

Al Horford scored 20 points, and Marcus Morris had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Boston, which punished the Pelicans for their 22 turnovers, converting them into 32 points.

                    HORNETS 110, BUCKS 107

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb each had 21 points, and Charlotte held on to beat Milwaukee after nearly squandering a 25-point, third-quarter lead.

Marvin Williams added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Tony Parker had 15 points off the bench for the Hornets, who bounced back from a loss at Atlanta on Sunday night and ended a two-game skid.

The Bucks nearly came all the way back, cutting the lead to one with 17 seconds left on a layup by Giannis Antetokounmpo.

But Walker made two free throws with 7.1 seconds left and the Bucks failed to get off a good shot after a side inbounds, with Eric Bledsoe forced to launch an off-balance 3-pointer at the buzzer that hit off the glass and the rim and bounced away as time expired.

Antetokounmpo had 20 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. Bledsoe scored 17 points.

                    PACERS 121, JAZZ 88

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Doug McDermott scored a season-high 21 points and Indiana rolled to an easy victory without leading scorer Victor Oladipo, beating Utah.

Myles Turner set the tone with 16 points, all in the first three quarters, and seven Pacers reached double figures. Tyreke Evans scored 14 points and Cory Joseph and Domantas Sabonis each had 13.

The Pacers shot a season-best 58.3 percent and made half of their 18 3-point attempts.

Donovan Mitchell, who scores 20.6 per game, sat out his second game with bruised ribs and Utah was playing a back-to-back, but it was 19 turnovers and poor shooting that buried the Jazz and dropped their usually stellar home record to 2-6.

                    SPURS 108, BULLS 107

CHICAGO (AP) - LaMarcus Aldridge scored 11 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, and San Antonio held off Chicago.

DeMar DeRozan had 21 points and Patty Mills finished with 17 as San Antonio improved to 2-1 on a four-game trip. Bryn Forbes made three of the Spurs' 10 3-pointers on his way to 13 points.

Chicago had two chances to go in front in the final seconds and came up empty each time. Zach LaVine was short on a 3-point try from the top of the key, and Ryan Arcidiacono missed a jumper as time expired.

LaVine scored 11 of his 28 points in the fourth, but the Bulls lost for the seventh time in eight games. Arcidiacono finished with a career-high 22 points, Jabari Parker had 18 and Justin Holiday added 17.

                    TIMBERWOLVES 102, CAVALIERS 95

CLEVELAND (AP) - Robert Covington scored 24 points, Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 and Minnesota beat Cleveland.

Minnesota is 6-2 since trading disgruntled star Jimmy Butler to Philadelphia two weeks ago and 10-11 overall. The latest win was its second in 10 road games this season.

Derrick Rose came off the bench to score 10 of his 12 points in the fourth quarter. Towns hit two baskets in the final two minutes, including a fadeaway jumper on the baseline, after Cleveland cut the lead to 91-86.

Cleveland beat Philadelphia and Houston last week for its first back-to-back wins of the season, but couldn't make it three straight.

Kyle Korver scored 22 points, including six 3-pointers for Cleveland. Rodney Hood added 20 points while Tristan Thompson had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Tuesday’s List of 13: Nobody asked me, but…….

                        13) OK, first thing today, I’d like some feedback from you, the reader; whats your favorite Christmas song? I’ll post some of the more interesting answers I get sometime before Christmas.

E-mail me at [email protected] Thanks.

                        12) Jacksonville Jaguars fired offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett Monday, then named Cody Kessler their new starting QB for their home game against the Colts this week.

Previous starter Blake Bortles had started 70+ consecutive games for Jacksonville, but the team’s 7-game losing streak cost him his starting job, at least for now. During Bortles’ tenure as the Jaguars’ starting QB, Jacksonville fired three offensive coordinators.

                        11) We all think its great to be a pro athlete or a celebrity, but can you imagine what it is like to be sitting at home Monday night watching the ballgame and while a Tennessee player is hurt. the TV geniuses decide to analyze whats wrong with the Jaguars.

All of a sudden, it becomes a “bash Bortles” thing; we all know that QB’s get too much credit and too much blame, thats why they get paid a lot of cash. But it still has to be weird to be sitting at home and hear guys who may or may not know a lot critiquing your career.

                        10) Aaron Rodgers lost his last eight road starts; it’s the longest road losing streak by a Packers QB since David Whitehurst lost nine straight from 1978-81.

                        9) Bengals lost QB Andy Dalton (hand) for the season; backup Jeff Driskel will get his first NFL start Sunday at home against Denver. Driskel has thrown 36 passes in four NFL games; he was 17-29 passing in Sunday’s loss to the Browns.

                        8) Texans 34, Titans 17— When did it become OK for football coaches to become reckless and go for it on 4th down whenever they feel like it? The NFL is a multi-billion dollar business, do things that are smart!!!

Down 14-10 late in 2nd quarter, Tennessee had 4th-and-1 on the Houston 2-yard line. Instead of doing the smart thing, kicking a FG to make it 14-13, Titans not only go for it, they give the ball to a backup TE masquerading as a fullback, first time he ever carried the ball in the NFL.

The play doesn’t work, Houston runs the next play 97 yards for a TD and school is out. There is a proper time to be conservative and/or “normal.” You do enough goofy things that don’t work, and your players will stop believing in you.

                        7) Last week was the first time the Big East didn’t have anyone in college basketball’s top 25 since February, 1982. Villanova is back in the top 25 this week.

                        6) Of the first 85 games ACC basketball teams played this month, only four of them were true road games, and North Carolina played two of those (Wofford, Elon).

                        5) Atlanta Braves signed C Brian McCann to replace Kurt Suzuki and fill out their platoon at catcher with Tyler Flowers. Braves are also expected to sign 3B Josh Donaldson to a one-year deal, which Donaldson would use to get a longer deal at this time next year.

                        4) Red Sox beat the Dodgers in the World Series; the difference in each player’s winning share and losing share of World Series money: $154,810.23.

                        3) Random fact: 19,429 baseball players have made it to the major leagues.

                        2) Ole Miss football team went 0-8 against the spread in conference games this season, the first SEC team to do that, since at least 1985. They’re fifth team since 2005 in any conference to go winless against the spread in league play.

                        1) This week, Rhode Island became the 8th state to have legalized sports betting; New York hasn’t done a damn thing yet, while everyone goes over to New Jersey to bet, and spend money on food and Christmas shopping. Brilliant!!!

                        • Hot & Not Report

                          Week of November 26th

                          Who's Hot

Look to the best teams in the East for 'Overs' – Toronto, Milwaukee, Philly a combined 43-19 O/U

For years in the NBA there has been the general notion that if you want to see high-scoring games it's better to watch the majority of the teams out West. Golden State has led the charge in that regard the past half-decade given their ability to score, but teams in the East have always been saddled with the idea that defensive basketball comes first there. Whether that's been a growing “stereotype” since the days of Larry Bird's physical Boston Celtics teams vs. Magic's “Showtime” L.A Lakers, I don't really know, but in 2018-19, that idea has been completely flipped on it's head.

The top three teams in the East right now (Toronto, Milwaukee, Philadelphia) are the only three teams in the entire NBA with 14 or more 'overs' cashed so far. All three of these teams understand that they've got a distinct talent advantage on the floor on most nights, and like the Warriors of year's past, are simply running and gunning to outscore their foes, assuming they won't be able to keep up. Given that those three teams are the only three in the East with more than 11 SU wins to enter the week, that strategy appears to be working quite well.

What is still surprising though is the idea that the totals for Raptors, Sixers, or Bucks games still haven't really caught up to them. Even in today's NBA when a total of 215 is like the new baseline (when it was 204 or so just a few years ago), these three leaders in the East continue to surpass their numbers at a near 70% clip. When two of those three teams have squared off against one another, the 'over' is a perfect 3-0 so far, and that's with all three of those totals closing at least in the low 220's.

Now chances are the numbers for these totals will start to catch up to these three teams soon and more 'unders' will start to hit, and it begins for Milwaukee on Monday night. Their road game in Charlotte currently has a total of 234, but with about 70% of the action already on the high side, it appears many are going to ride with this trend as long as they can.

                          Who's Not

The Boston Celtics – League Worst 7-13 ATS

While the dysfunction out in Golden State dominates the media airwaves, it's the struggles of the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference that probably aren't getting the publicity that they should. Big things were expected from the Celtics this year after losing in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals last spring, knowing that stars like Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward would be back and healthy for this campaign. But this Celtics squad is just a .500 team through 20 games, and no team in the entire league as a worse ATS record than Boston at 35%.

Boston takes the court on Monday as they visit New Orleans, and the fact that this point spread has flipped from opening at Boston -1 to New Orleans -2 currently probably tells you all you need to know about how the betting market currently views this Celtics team. Some of that move might be injury related on both sides, but bettors are more likely to have been jilted by backing the Celtics at least once this year, sentiment is finally starting to significantly go against this Boston team. Twenty games may not be quite enough to really establish the old “they are who we thought they are” mantra about this Celtics unit, but it's still a 1/4 of the way through the year and Boston – a team one win away from the Finals last year without their two superstars – is still sitting at .500. There's got to come a point when the markets start to view this Celtics team as one that their current record shows, and maybe we've already reached that point.

However, as I touched on earlier with the thought that some 'unders' are coming for Raptors/Bucks/Sixers games, it may not be long until we see this Celtics team start cashing ticket after ticket. There is no question that November has not been kind to the Celtics (3-9 ATS), but two of those three ATS victories did come against current division leaders in the East (Toronto, Milwaukee) and that suggests that this Celtics team simply has a tough time “getting up” for many of these early season games to win by a significant margin.

That's no different than what we've seen from teams like Cleveland or Golden State in recent years, when playoff success tends to further the mindset that it's all about being at your best from about the All-Star break and beyond. The NBA season is a long and grinding one, and with the Celtics still showing they can beat the best of the best within their conference, I'd be willing to bet that this team will be fine long-term.

It may not happen this week or next, but Boston will start to turn their SU and ATS record around when a little more urgency kicks in. When that becomes the case remains to be seen, but when betting markets are so heavily influenced by recent results, the spreads for Boston in the foreseeable future could end up presenting quite a bit of value for “Bet ON” scenarios.

NBA Games to Watch - Week 7

As we enter into a new week of NBA action, the battles in both the Eastern and Western Conferences remain very tight. In the East, the Toronto Raptors begin to lead the way, although they have just a slender two-game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks. Things are a little tighter in the West, where the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors, who broke out of their four-game losing skid over the weekend, are sharing the lead.

There are a lot of very good games on the NBA calendar this week, so let’s look at some of the best over the next few days with all the odds, props and futures for it sponsored by YouWager.eu.

Tuesday - Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets

The Lakers may have lost their last game of the week, but they still have seven wins in their last 10 games and are now just 2 games out of the lead in the West despite being down in the #7 spot. They can tighten things up even further with a win on the road in Denver against the #3 Nuggets, although that may be easier said than done, with Denver coming into this one on a modest three-game winning streak. The Lakers won the first meeting of the season against the Nuggets, although that one came at home. They are going to have a much tougher go of it here.

Wednesday - Dallas Mavericks at Houston Rockets

It’s the battle of Texas on Wednesday night for the first time this season, with both teams needing some wins to get above the playoff line. The Houston Rockets are obviously the more surprising of the two to be in the position that they are in, especially when you consider that this is the same team that won the Western Conference last season. Just when it looks as though they are about to go on a positive run, they slip up again, just as they did in a weekend loss to the Cavaliers. The Rockets have won each of the last eight meetings with the Mavericks, and should win this one, too.

Thursday - Golden State Warriors at Toronto Raptors

There is no doubt about it, this is the game of the week, as it features the defending champions going against the top team in the Eastern Conference right now. It has not really been smooth sailing for the Golden State Warriors, as losing streaks and locker room squabbles have somewhat tainted their start to the season. Still, they remain tied for first in the West. The Toronto Raptors have been all business in the early going with a 17-4 record and a two-game lead in the East. This should be a fun one to watch, but I like the Raptors at home.
