  • Thanks for proving my point. Favre is breaking no rules by doing that. Did you read the story? The Packers have 24 hours to get their finger out of their ass if he is reinstated. We'll see what happens .....

Wayne, I'm not really expressing my opinion here. I've never actually expressed my opinions on the matter. I'm responding to some of your misinformed notions.

From your statement I'll reiterate you're naive. You're naive as to what takes place in the business world. Don't make blanket statements without first checking your facts. Employees DO NOT enjoy total FREEDOM.

You are NO MORE informed on this than me frank and if you worked for or know anything about Unions, you would get my drift. The bottom line is simple. If Favre refuses a trade, he has to be allowed in camp. You tell me Mr. Knowitall where i'm wrong in that statement?

        Damn ... YOU'RE NAIVE!

          Proving your point?

Without having an official no-trade clause in his contract
What part of "WITHOUT HAVING" do you fail to comprehend?

Think about it! It's all meaningless BS. OK So Favre doesn't have to report to another team. The Packers can continue to not play, not practice and not allow Favre to attend any team functions. GB will be obligated to pay Favre but that's about it. I doubt Favre's contract reads "HE MUST PLAY". The league or union can't force GB to play or trade Favre.

UNION? The Union in the NFL is a farce. Gene Upshaw and the NFL have been in bed together for years. That's why the players want to get rid of Upshaw.

I agree with all the above comments. Except for a few seasons he plays in a very mediocre division. Also, unlike the AFC, the NFC hasn't had any dominate teams since Cowboys in the early 1990s. If he was so fucking great why hasn't he been in the SB in 10 seasons. During this stretch there's been some teams without stellar QBs playing in the SB. Bears (Grossman), Panthers (Delhomme), Bucs (Johnson), Atlanta.

My "Point" is simple frank. He is breaking no league or union rules by not reporting to another team meaning, it is a choice he has. There, now that is solved ...

Again frank, NOBODY said he has to play ... NOBODY. It would be such a great debate if you read a thread before responding to it ...

Call it a farce all you want, it is written in black and white that G.B. has 24 hours after reinstatement to allow Favre back into camp, trade him or release him. We'll see which path they choose. All this is reported on ESPN NFL Live Frank, by analysts and former players. Forgive me for assuming they know more about this than you.

                  • Some excerpts

After beating the San Francisco 49ers in the 1997 NFC Championship Game, Favre won just three of his last 10 playoff games. Eli Manning had more postseason wins in a 29-day span this past season than Favre had in his last decade with the Green Bay Packers.
Favre’s passer rating in his last 12 postseason games was a pedestrian 77.8. In his last five wild-card games, he went 2-3 with more interceptions (nine) than touchdown passes (seven). In his last three divisional playoff games, he went 1-2 with seven TDs and seven interceptions. That’s a 3-5 record with 14 touchdown passes and 16 picks.
In two of his last four postseason appearances, Favre threw two of the most unthinkable playoff interceptions in NFL history, both in overtime — to Brian Dawkins of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2003 and to Corey Webster of the New York Giants in January. In fact, Favre is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw overtime interceptions in two playoff games. In his last nine playoff games, Favre threw 18 interceptions.
Favre’s career playoff record was 12-10. Starr’s was 9-1 — without the benefit of wild-card games. Favre threw 28 interceptions in 22 playoff games. Starr threw three in 10. Think about that — just three picks in 213 postseason attempt

                        • Earlier this week, sources said the Packers were offering Favre about $20 million over 10 years to maintain a long-term relationship off the field, but the ESPN report Friday said the figure is $25 million.

Such personal-services contracts with teams are relatively common in professional sports for retired star performers -- among those believed to have such deals are Dan Marino and John Elway in the NFL; Hank Aaron and Nolan Ryan in Major League Baseball; and Wayne Gretzky in the NHL. The Packers also have been promoting the notion that the deal, which the sides first discussed shortly after Favre's retirement in early March, would not preclude Favre from returning to the NFL and thus isn't a bribe to keep him from playing.

Wayne, I guess it wasn't a bribe after all according to todays news. And of course it would be on the Packers terms since he signed a contract under no duress to ensure he would be the property of the Packers for 2 more years

Disagree on that and if he was he wouldn't be going into the HOF on the first ballet.

GB just needs to release him or trade him to a team that he will play for and get some younger talent. I mean shit this is a no brainer.
