ps I along with many picked and bet the Celtics to win-diferent circumstances and Celts proved they coudl beat Western teams during the season including the Lakers-don't forget their remarkable sweep of Dallas, Houston and San Antonio over 3 or 4 days.

That's why they were, what, a +$190 series dog, right??? Because 'many' liked the C's???

How is this baseball season different than 2006 when the AL dominated interleague, the NL looked like crap and everyone was jerking off on the AL saying they had the top 5 teams in baseball????

Angels are the smartest big money team because they never make trades at the deadline so they develop their own talent and when they do spend on FA's they usually make wise choices with somewhat younger players.

I disagree also, because even though they are competitive year in and year out, they never make a move and because they don't, they lose golden opportunities to win the whole thing. The Padres pull that same shit. They get into the playoffs, just barely, but they made no moves again, so their out in the first round. Grow a sack

Brewers are a top contender now if not for the division then for the wild card...even if they dont resign CC who cares because they will get two #1 picks for him as compensation and the Brewers are one of the better teams lately who develop top talent and get them major league ready.

This is the one thing i don't think many realize when they say "Let's wait and see".

Getting 2 first round picks if C.C. leaves may be just as good as what they gave up. When there are 60 rounds in the MLB draft and you get 2 extra 1st rounders, that is BIG and Milwaukee knows it. They also get 2 more if Ben Sheets leaves. If they sign 1, they will have 3 first round picks, if they sign neither, they get 5 first round picks.

I again ask, how is this not a STEAL for Milwaukee?????

No team should ever give a pitcher more than a four year contract; I call this the Barry Zito rule.

Milwaukee shoudn't give Sheets the five years he wants---he has no history of staying healthy.
They shouldn't give CC the seven years he wants----he's thrown too many innings.

Small market teams need to develop from within but can't give long term contracts to pitchers. When they do make a trade like this, it better work out.

As I said, if CC takes them deep in the playoffs then it is a good deal....but only if that happens.

If either Sheets or CC is a Brewer next year, I will publicly declare myself an idiot. It just ain't gonna happen

Hold on-I thought the line on Lakers for series was absurd to begin with, and that is why I bet the Celtics-they had the best record, beat the Lakers twice during the regular season and as stated above did quite well against the West.
The same cannot be said for the NL teams-47 games below 500 in interleague play,and only 3 teams with above 500 record.
Of course, a NL team could win in 2008, but the odds are against it.
You point to one year-2006-what about all of the OTHER years 2006;what league won and who has dominated the All Star Game?
Who would you bet tomorrow if say the Red Sox(assuming everyone was healthy), Tampa, Angels, etc. were playing the Cubs, Milwaukee or for that matter any Nl team for the WS?
Upsets do occur in all sports, but using the statistics and common sense, I think that any of the three teams cited above and perhaps a few more should be clear favorites over ANY National League team.

Tickets $35 X 4 = $140
Parking $18 (they were bringing in 10 cars per minute for at least 2 hours)
Beer $7.50 X more than 1
Hot dogs $4
Hamburgers $6
Bottle water $3.75
Small soda $3.50
Nachos $5

Including gas and dinner on the way home, it was about a $400 trip for 4 people. BREWERS WON

I hear ya' Phil. At least you can get tickets. Look above at what a Sox game costs on average. Having less seats here is the biggest problem of all right now. Most ball parks are bigger than Fenway but either way, it is ridiculous!
