Brew Crew has quite a solid squad, this only makes them better.

      NBA 08-09 (10-7) + 1.59 units

If Gallardo didn't tear his ACL and go down for the year they would be reallllly tough to win a series against, with sheets cc & gallardo at the top of their rotation they would be the favorites in the NL central IMO.......brewers have a solid core with prince, hart, braun & hardy but there weak at the top and bottom of the lineup with rickie weeks, mike cameron and bill hall. also think they need serious help in the bullpen, whoever told them in the offseason that eric gagne and guillermo mota can still get guys out consistently needs to put down the grass

Johan for Carlos Gomez, CC for LaPorta, these trades aren't like Larry Anderson for Jeff Bagwell where you're giving away a future prospect for a middle reliever. These trades are a prospect for the best pitchers in the game at a young age. Starting pitching is everything is baseball, and if you can get the best in the game, I don't care if you're giving up potentially the future Babe Ruth, it's a great trade.

There's no starting offensive player in baseball worth trading for say Cole Hamels, so why would a prospect be worth it? The Indians just got even worse than they were and they won't recover anytime soon, hard to believe when they just had so much promise last year.

I agree completely big W carlos gomez and a couple prospects, LaPorta and a couple prospects for a couple of the best pitchers in the game ? ? If it weren't for free agency these deals would never happen this cheaply. At least the mets were allowed a window of opportunity to sign johan to a long term deal.

Indians had a lot of promise this year and a lot of injuries this year, with carmona, hafner, v-mart hurt and more bullpen problems its been tough for them to continue that success now that they have the target on their back.

Yea of course money plays a part, but as far as players go, LaPorta for CC is a complete rip off

I agree with this opinion written on 6/25/08:

5-8 with a 4.06 ERA. Those are the glaring statistics of last year's Cy Young Award winner out of Cleveland. After putting up stellar numbers (second, in my opinion, to those of Josh Beckett) last season, one could say Sabathia has not fully recovered from his faux pas committed in last year's ALCS where he went 0-2 with a 10.45 ERA (again, against an untouchable Beckett- 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA). This turn of events and Jekyll and Hyde type of performance by CC Sabathia has me not only wondering why in the world teams are thinking of selling the farm in order to acquire him this year, but also creates the question- is he one of the most overrated pitchers in baseball? It's hard for me to find the argument that he isn't, but I'm sure I'll get plenty of wall posts by outraged Indians fans. And why wouldn't they be? Their city has waited a long time for a championship in any sport (the longest of any with active teams currently in play). But to put the hopes of a championship on Sabathia's shoulders, given his recent performances, just doesn't seem right. I do think they should trade him though, what have they got to lose? Another postseason of 10.45 ERA pitching? Another year without a ring? Put it this way, what have they to gain? Prospects for the future? Perhaps another bat to help their beleaguered offense of late? I can't say to a certainty, but it looks like now more than ever, Sabathia should be trade bait and anyone foolish enough to bite should be the catch of the day for the Indians organization.

Also, I researched stats. and found not to my surprise that Sabathia is 1-7 lifetime against the Yankees with a 7.13 ERA.
By my way of thinking, he is good but not great and not worthy of all the attention he is getting.
He may help Milwaukee in the inferior National League, but then again a lot of pitchers could.

wellllll I would say that he's better than just "good" , he may not be great but he's one of the more dominating lefty starters in the game right now. and I wouldn't call him the most overrated pitcher in the game, that title goes to..........mark buehrle

They weren't going to get fair value for a guy going into his walk year, where they have told the world they aren't going to re-sign him and when they weren't going to give the other team an opportunity to sign him prior to the deal. No doubt they were only going to get $.75 on the dollar...but at least they got $.75 that can turn into $1.25.

They aren't making the playoffs and te longer they wait, the less they would get. I thnk this is a good deal for both sides.
