It really pissed me off at that point and they better smarten tha' fuck up 'cause Sox fans will turn their back in a heartbeat if they feel management is only about the profit margin!

I thibk the Sox would really have to stink for a couple of consecutive seasons(500 or worse ball) to see any drop off at the gate and other sources of revenue.

Going to Fenway is an event as much as going to see the Red Sox game, and there will always be a new generation of adults and kids who want to go see the Red sox no matter what their record is.
For many, many years Sox have always been in the hunt especially with the wildcard, and that in itself is enough to fill the ballpark and sell the great majority of tickets before the season even starts(of course many are bought by scalpers).
The worst scenario if Sox really tank(actually the best from a fan's point of view) for the forseeable future would be for many of those absurd scalper ticket prices for regular season games to take a big hit, and for a change the marketplace to become a buyer's market.
In my opinion, all things considered (and don't forget management is clever and can always find ways to create impression that Sox really have a good team)it will be years if ever before you can walk up to the box office on the day of a game and buy a really good ticket.Last edited by savage1; 08-11-2006, 02:09 PM.

Here is something that i ran across that i find very very strange..
2006 Salaries
Rk Player Salary (US$)
1 Manny Ramirez $18,279,238
2 Curt Schilling $13,000,000
3 Jason Varitek $10,000,000
4 Matt Clement $9,825,000
5 Javy Lopez $9,000,000
6 Mike Lowell $9,000,000
7 Keith Foulke $7,750,000
8 Trot Nixon $7,500,000
9 David Ortiz $6,500,000
10 Josh Beckett $4,325,000
All I want to know is how in the fuck can Schilling,Varitek,Clement,Lopez,Lowell.Foulke or Nixon making more than Papi?? Hell if I were an owner of a team and he even had the slighest interest in my team and I could afford it I would throw his ass ARod type money he is just that damn good.. Clearly the most UNDERPAID player in MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL!!

Look back in the Clemens and Dan Duquette days frank. You could walk up and buy a ticket for face value on a day Clemens was pitching and the stadium was always half empty!
