Sox will be lucky to win 90 games this year.
I said they had to win a bare minimum of 5 against TB, KC and Baltimore to stay in playoff race.
They are now 1-5 and can do no better than 4 wins.
It goes without saying that I say chances of making the playoffs are nil especially without Varitek, the loss of whom I said is incalculable.

In a short series anything can happen. I think the teams to beat in the AL playoffs are the Tigers and Yanks. The Mets took the season series from the Yanks. With their pitching the Tigers will be tough. With their huge lead the Tigers should go into the playoffs with rested starters.

If Lariano returns the Twins will be the WC facing the Tigers in the opening round.

If Tigers mantain best record and the Twins win the WC Tigers will get the division winner with a worse record....2 teams cant play from the same division in the opening round.

Tigers will most likely open up v the West winner if Twins get the WC

Hell, i said about a week ago that they were FINISHED. It was right after they did nothing at the trading deadline. You will be bummed out to know i don't care at this point. I'm disgusted and it's FOOTBALL season. I agree ... FUCK THE RED SOX!

I heard 2 days ago up here that the Red Sox made a 200 million dollar profit last year. They could have had the 2 Phillies that NY got but refused because they didn't want to pay the 6 million for going over the luxury tax. It really pissed me off at that point and they better smarten tha' fuck up 'cause Sox fans will turn their back in a heartbeat if they feel management is only about the profit margin!

Oh and what happens if say after this weekend(assuming they don't get swept against the Orioles) they lose 5 of 8 or worse against Detroit and Ny(a distinct possibility)?
Turning on the jets AFTER the Yankee series(which is 5 games) as you phrase it might be meaningless if the plane has already crash landed;in short it will be too late.
This has a lot more than a slump-too many good players out, and at this point in the season, I think any recovery will be too little and too late.

MCP, I agree with you. I ain't throwin' dirt on this Sox team yet. Maybe the Division is gone, but they still can get the WC spot. All Sox fans had their chests puffed out following the 12 game streak, talkin' smack...now the go in the tank for 15+ games and its over. I am not giving up on them yet. Lots of holes, but who doesn't have them?
