MONDAY'S PLAYS (02-27):
{CBB-PLAYS}
*Special-TOP RATED BIG SKY GAME OF THE WEEK: (5 Units)
Mont St -2 (buy .5pt..for 3 units)...and added 2 units at -3
This game has a lot of confusion and implications which not only involve these two teams but the game between Idaho St and E Wash....However, this one can all be put to rest simply with a Bobcat win..and I like that Fact.
Currently, both the Bobcats and the Hornets are in a slide of late...with the Hornets coming off of a 20 pt home loss to N Ariz, which was also the biggest ass spanking they got at home under Coach Jenkins....and this loss makes it number 8 out of the last 9 games they played...Mont St, meanwhile, has also lost 5 of their last 6 games played and is coming off a ass spanking themselves in their lost at E Wash, also on Saturday...But it should also be noted that 4 of those 5 losses for the Bobcats were on the road, where they are just 3-8 this year...and that the Bobcats, are a solid 11-3 at home, where this showdown is going to be played..
Sure, some will say that the Hornets are good on the road because they have enjoyed more success away from home this season (7-8) than in any other season since joining Div 1 in 1991...But, excluding those other wins, it should also be noted that the Hornets are 3-3 on the road this year in Conf play...and that those 3 wins were against the bottom dwellers in the conference in Weber St, Idaho St, and Portland St....
Tonight, they need to take a step up in competition and do it against this Bobcat team, who was picked to finish 1st in both the Big Sky preseason and coaches polls...Not to mention, against a team who they couldnt beat on their own floor back on Jan 19th....Another reason, why they also is going to have their hands full tonight is the fact that this is also Senior Night for 4 players on this Bobcat team...and 3 of them averaging double figures..in G Ja'Ron Jefferson (14.6 ppg), F Marvin Moss (11.8 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and C Al Beye (11.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg).
One thing to note about this Sac St team is the fact, that after they started the season off going 4-1 in conference play...there fall is alittle mindboggling because they did this without one of their studs in Sr Harris (avg 14 ppg) (selected by several to be this years Big Sky player of the year), who missed these first 5 conf games due to academics...Yet since his return they have now gone 1-7, with him scoring in double digits just 4 times during this span...Interesting, because it falls under team chemistry..which was established when he was out...but upon his (the Stars) return, that chemistry is all messed up...And based on this terrible slide the Hornets are on, it doesnt seem that they have found a cure with him in the mix of yet...This kind of thing can and does happen in these situations...ie, remember the movie the Replacements, when All-Pro QB Martell crossed over to re-joined his team..which had created alot of chemistry with Keanu Reeves QB'ing them.....Well, I know that is the movies..but thought everyone would understand and be able to relate to this more....Plus, my brain is farting right now..and I cant think of a real life situation where this has happened....LOL...But believe me it does...Some teams cant play or find chemistry to be successful throughout when they got a super star on it...Just look at the LA Fakers!
Anyways, here is yet another reason why I like the Bobcats tonight as well...is that the Bobcats are averaging a conf best 8.15 three-pionters per game...as 6 different players have drained at least 8 Bombs this season from downtown...Also, more than 30% of the Bobcats FG's in conf play have come from long range...Annnnd, at Home they are hitting an average of 9 Bombs..and doing it at an average of 40% as well...Bombs Away Baby!
Side Note: The Bobcats at home also averaging 76.9 ppg, shooting 49% overall...while holding opponents to just 33.1 rpg...They also are averaging 17 assist per game at home, and also just 13 TO's...
Side Note: The Hornets, have now been outboarded in 10 of their last 11 games...and 6 of these games they grabbed just 29 or less rebounds as well....
Sac St in their last 5 games is 1-4, and allowed opponents to average 77.8 ppg and 40 rpg in this span...In addition, on the road, they allowed opponents to average 78.2 ppg and shoot a solid 49%....This also goes along with their poor averaged of just 10 assist and committing an average of 23 PF's on the Road, as well....Not Good!
Some Stats, Trends, and Info I like....
-Montana State bids farewell to four seniors on Monday, hoping to secure at least one more home game
-MSU leads the Big Sky in 3-pointers per game and is second in 3-pt pctg
-The Bobcats are 8-3 this year when shooting more FTs than the opponent
-The 'Cats forced 10 or fewer turnovers in five of the last six games
-Al Beye is 31-for-45 shooting (69%) in the last four games, the rest of the team 44%
-Montana State is 8-3 when grabbing more rebounds than the opponent
-Sac St just 2-7 as a Dog...and 9-33 their last 42 games in this role.
-Sact St just 2-4 ATS and 1-5 in Feb.
-Sact St just 2-6 ATS and 1-7 off a loss vs conf opponent.
-Mont St 5-2 ATS vs teams with winning records.
-Mont St already beat Sac St at Sac by 3pts....where they shot 51.9%, 42%..and out boarded them by 5 in the win.
Bottom Line:
Yes Mont St has already clinched a tourney berth...however they still have alot of incentive to get this one tonight...if not for this also Senior Night...a win here would give them an all important 1st round home game...
This Bobcat team and their fans had high hopes as they again, predicted to finish first in the conf...and thus get to the big dance...But, now with their situation, if they still want to go dancing and make their fans happy...they need to first get this one in a big way...I know that this one is played indoors..but damn, a Cali team traveling to the frigid 20-below temperatures in Bozeman, is a chilling thought, huh.....Do you think the warm weather Hornets could suffer a bit of frost bite as they make their way to the arena...Probably not, but what could be just as chilling affect is their being limited to any 2nd-chance opportunities by 6-11 C Al Beye (11.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg) down low...Now that is what I see happening tonight....Attention Bozeman fans, keep the doors open throughout the game and let that clean, frigid air in all game long...LOL....All BOBCATS TONIGHT!
*REGULAR PLAY ON: (2 Units)
Oklahoma -8 +100
Gang, March is approaching very fast...Time now to jump on board...and start making that run again to "The Madness"....Solid Plays Packages for "the Madness" up and available at an early Special price rate and which includes these type of Second To None Write-Ups backing up my plays as well....If you like that, then Hop on and LETS GO SINK EM!
