  • *LATE NIGHT ESPN COMP PLAY 4 "SHOWTIME SUNDAY" ...LETS SWEEP EM!

    ATLANTA -23O

-First time all year I am laying this big of a number...but I dont trust that Braves BP just yet to give up that RL...But, I like this situation today with the Braves needing to stop the bleeding and SD coming in alittle bit over confident after taking the first two of this series and all 5 games between these two so far this season...Plus, they know Zona lost today and that gives them alittle more breathing room and they can relax abit, in this their last road game.

Today I like it that Lawrence is taking the hill for the Padres as he is one of the most inconsistant pitchers in the league....Just looking at his past starts you can already see a trend developing....After he comes off a solid outing, his next game is a automatic stinker...and he is coming off a solid game vs the Marlins in his last start....Heres an example of what I mean...in his last 5 starts, he gave up 4 ERs and 0 HRs, then followed that with giving up 7 ERs and 2 HRs, followed by 2 ERs and 0 HRs, followed of course by a shit the bed game giving up 8 ERs and 1 HR, which then he followed with his last solid performance against the Marlins...where he gave up only 1 ER and no HRs....so he is due again to Shit the Bed tonight....and I fully expect him to do just that vs this Braves team looking to stop the bleeding now...and also to prevent another Sweep by these Padres...not to mention that this one is on ESPN as well..

The Braves have lost 4 of their last 5 games...but in their last 4 games they have been hitting the ball well averaging over DD's hits in their last 4...SD also hitting well of late but Smoltz can control them and along with his defense.....Tonight, I see the Braves getting to Lawrence alot and I also expect an all out effort from these Braves...who still is one of the Best Home teams in the league...40-21 at Home...Solid!

      • **TOP RATED WNBA COMP PLAY ON:

        Phoenix Mercury -6 (buy .5pt)

-Mercury playing much better of late going 7-3 the last 10 games as compared to the Lynx who have posted a poor 3-7 record in this span....This game very important for both teams playoff hopes but Phoenix holds their destiny in their hands as they need this one to secure that fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Conf..

Minny coming in dropping 3 of their last 4 games, which also include 16 pt road loss at the hands of the Storm on Thursday....while the Mercury are coming into this one off of dishing out an ass spanking of there own, in routing San Antonio on Friday....This should give them alot more momentum and focus to get this important game...and due to that blowout game, Phoenix was able to give their starters alot of rest, with only one player playing more than 21 minutes...The Lynx also on a 5 straight losing streak and off of losing 10 of their last 11 games on the road as well...so they are not coming into this one with alot of positive things to reflect upon...

Minny also is one of the worst on the road posting a 3 and 12 record away from Home...while the Mercury are a solid 10-5 at Home.....and have currently won 6 of their last 7 at the America West Arena.....I like the rested Mercury team led by Taurasi and company to get this win in a big way....Phoenix will attack the Lynx with 5 players who average in the DD's scoring...but the Lynx only can answer with two DD scorers of their own....Not good as Phoenix wants that last spot badly and they have the better talent and advanteous situation favoring them to get it.... Go Phoenix!.

                  • *COMP PLAY 4 "BIG MONDAY" ....ENJOY!

                    SF +106

-These Giants are still alive in the wacky and weak NL West division and are just 7 games behind leader SD...With yesterdays impressive win over the NL's best St Louis and this upcoming 9 game homestand, they have a chance to improve their situation.

Tonight they face Philly who is leading the Wild Card race, but have won just 2 games in their last 6 by more than one run...They wont find things to easy tonight vs the Giants Lowry, who has been pitching very solid in this second half of the season...In fact, he is coming off of 3 straight wins, inwhich he has been in "Shutdown" mode...In this 3 game span he has an impressive ERA of .79 and a WHIP of .838, allowing just 2 ERs on 12 hits, 0 HRs in over 22 innings... Solid!

Phillies go with Lieber who is also coming in on a run of late..however, on the road he has been hittable and beatable...posting a 4-6 Road record with an ERA of 4.72 this year...In his last start vs the Giants he was tagged for 4 runs on 8 hits, in 6 innings in a 6-5 Philly win.

Phillies just completed a 7 game homestand going 4-3 which is not as impressive to me then SF's 6-7 record they had on their long 13 game road trip, where they faced some solid pitching and hitting teams like Atl, Florida, and St Louis.

SF's young lefty Lowry...did get rocked by the Phils for 6 runs on 9 hits and only last 4 2/3 innings...but that one was way back on August 18 of last year...Time has changed and today Lowry goes for his 10th win in this series opener...Oh, and he has also recorded 4 shutouts in his last 7 games he started...In addition, the Phillies have only been able to average just .224 hitting vs LHPs in their last 10 games vs them...and are just hitting .237 overall in this span....While the Giants are have averaged hitting .273 overall...Lowry at home only has a 3-7 record...but his ERA is just in the low 3's and he also only allows opponents to hit .234 against him at Home this year.

Lastly, SF's BP has been pitching solid of late as they have an ERA of 2.96 in their last 10 games, while Philly's BP ERA in this span is 4.45....Tonight I like the motivated Home Dog to get this one Outright!.... Go Giants!

                    ================================================== ====================================

                    FYI:

Join me for the Rest of My Best ...which will also include some solid plays in the WNBA and also NFL-Preseason Action...Yesterday, won with a Top Rated Plays on Phoenix in the WNBA (play & write-up posted as a comp yesterday in this thread....3-1 overall)..and with SD in the NFL ...Tonights Top Rated Play was on Seattle in MNF...and tomorrow we get back to the WNBA action...Jump on if your interested and then Lets Rock-N-Roll....GL and Aloha CC.

BTW...Congrats to our Hawaii team in the LLWS ...This team comes from a small town on the south west side of Oahu...but boy they got some Big Sticks and Shutdown Pitching to compliment them...Today they just blewout another team in their 10-0 Win over Florida...and Tony Gywin picks them as the Favorite to Win it All....Stay tuned as I am waiting for my spot to hit them in the next rounds vs the International teams...Not counting today, but some stats on Hawaii per espn commentators...Most runs scored in Regionals (87), averaged approx 14 rpg (Regionals), 16 HRs in last 6 games...just blewout Iowa's Best yesterday 7-3 (Iowa's scored 3 garbage runs in the last inning)...and today vs Florida's best 10-0...Impressive 3-0 right now, outscoring last two opponents 17-3!...Go HAWAII!
