  • *COMP PLAY 4 "THIRSTY THURSDAY" ....ENJOY!

    **TOP RATED COMP PLAY ON:

    Atlanta -156

-Gotta stick with the Home team here as they are one of the best in their House averaging 5.2 rpg and .288 hitting ...while holding opponents to just 3.6 rpg and .249 hitting....SF far from Home and most times when fighting hard only to come up short in the end happens to a road team thats going nowhere, it doesnt fare well the next game....Atlanta with that extra inning win picks up momentum and more motivation because of it...as opposed to if they ended the game winning 4-1 (like they should have done...Assholes! :angryfire )...so we will ride with it.

SF also avg giving up 5.1 rpg and .281 hitting on the road, and Schmidt if you look at his games seems to be falling into an inconsistant routine, especially following a solid performance...Hudson after last win will definately look to keep it going and so far he is looking "MARVELOUS"! .....Go Braves!

        • FYI:

-Evening Set goes 3-2 (Damn lose Florida and Atlanta off of late inning HRs)...This was my Late Set and its indepth Write-Up and Analysis I released with this play tonight on "Thirsty Thursday".

          **TOP RATED PLAY ON:

          Philly +100

The Phillies are just 1 1/2 games behind Houston in the Wild Card race and realistically I feel they are shooting for them instead of going after NL East leader Atlanta....and with the Astro's looking like they will be taking yet another one from the Nationals, they need to win this one to stay closer...

I like Phillies today as they go for their 1st road sweep of the year against the slumping Dodgers who have now lost 5 of their last 7 games....Lidle is 1-0 in his last 2 starts after losing his 3 game losing streak...however that was when the Phils offense was also in a slump and also during his personal problems which he seems to have taken care of....This time things and situations are alittle different and that should give him more focus and motivation, with the support of this Phillies offense that is starting to roll.

In Lidle's last start vs Milw, he allowed just 1 run on 5 hits, struck-out 9 with no walks given up....Solid! ...So far he is 6-4 with an ERA of 3.55 in his 12 road starts this year...And, he will be playing with a bit of revenge for that ass kicking he got by these Dodgers on July 20th in Philly..

LA's Perez who was riding high after coming back off the DL has seemed to fallen abit, just as the Dodgers have...In his last game, he gave up 9 hits and 6 runs in 6 innings...and now has allowed 10 runs in his last 13 2/3 innings of work...Perez has been dominant in his career vs the Phillies, but I dont feel it will be him that will cause this Dodger team to go down tonight..

Tonight I feel, the disadvantage for the Dodger lies in their offensive slumps along with their Bullpen stinking it up at the moment...or should I say, when they lost their confidence for the year when Gagne went down....First the Dodgers beside Kent, I dont trust at all...Kent is the only one who I feel is the most consistant and threat tonight, but he wont be enough..

The Phillies, on the other hand, has several players right now doing some good things of late...One of them is OF Abreu, who has 3 HRs and 9 RBIs in his last 6 games and is a big reason for their surge from their slump, when he was in a terrible slump after the All Star break....Another player who is continuing his solid play at the plate is 2B Utley, who leads all NL second baseman with a .307 batting average...higer than the Dodgers Kent who avg is .287....Pat Burrell with his 22 HRs and 80 RBIs, Jimmy Rollins with 26 SBs...and also 1B Howard, who took over for Thome, and has hit 3 of his 8 HRs against the Dodgers...Howard also batting .276 with 27 RBIs in 23 games this season...In this series vs the Dodgers, he is 5-for-10 with 2 HRs and 6 RBIs...and, he has hit 2 of his HRs off of the Dodgers Rookie Closer Brazoban...a Grand Slam last night and a 2 run Bomb in their game back on July 19th both giving the Phils the win over the Dodgers.

The Phillies may only be hitting .219 vs LHPs the last 10 games vs them....but the Dodgers are only hitting .230 vs RHPs in this span as well....However, overall in this span, the Phillies are hitting better at .254 to the Dodgers .235....and, the Phillies still have gone 20-14 vs LHPs this year, while the Dodgers are just 37-48 vs RHPs this year..and also just 29-34 after a loss..

Phillies, in their last 4 games is 3-1...outscoring opponents 25 to 13 or an average of 6 rpg to opponents 2.2 rpg....Dodgers, meanwhile has gone 1-3 in their last 4 games...and was outscored 19 to 30 or 4 rpg to their opponents 7.5 rpg....Also, Philly vs LHPs is averaging 5.3 rpg, .286 hitting t the plate, and .361 OBP overall vs them....Dodgers vs RHPs averaging just 4.1 rpg, hitting .252 at the plate, and just .317 OBP overall vs them.

The other area of the Dodgers weakness is with their Bullpen...In their last 10 games the Dodgers bullpen has an ERA of 11.47...while the Phillies BP in this span has an ERA of 1.69.....More recently, in the last 3 games the Phillies available bullpen for tonight has a ERA of 2.45 and .82 WHIP....while the Dodgers BP has a whopping ERA of 13 and a whopping WHIP of 2.61...Not Good!

Also, the Dodgers Rookie closer Brazoban is a RHP and he is currently off his game as well...as he has given up 7 runs, 5 hits, 3 walks, 0 K's in his last 2 games in just 2/3 innings...Last night he gave up 4 runs without retiring a batter...and in his previous game on Sunday at Pitt, he got into trouble and allowed 3 ERs on 4 hits while walking one...

*Some Stats and Trends I like...

-Philly is 13-5 vs the Dodgers the last 3 seasons.
-Philly 6-3 at LA the last 3 seasons...2-0 this year.
-Philly is 5-1 in their last six road games.
          - LAD are 3-7 in Perez's last 10 starts.
-Home team is 0-4 in the last four meetings.

          *REGULAR PLAY ON:

          Philly/Dodgers Over 7.5 -124

                **TOP RATED PLAY ON:

                CUBS -124

-The Z-Man like I like to call him...has been super at Home this season where has a record of 4-1 with an ERA of 2.43, WHIP 1.14, BAA .199...Overall Zambrano, in 23 starts has a record of 8-5 with an ERA of 3.30, BAA .215...including 134 K's, 65 Walks, only 12 HRs given up in 150 innings on the hill....Vs the Cards this year in 2 starts, he is 1-0 and has a shutdown ERA of 1.02...allowing just 1 walk and striking out 15 in alittle over 17 innings on the hill....In his career vs the Card, he does have an overall losing record, but his ERA is a solid 2.92, WHIP a low 1.08, and his BAA only .196...These are the main reasons why I like the Under as well today...but there are more reason below.

Zambrano ERA in his last 3 starts is 2.45...at Home his ERA is 2.43 (WHIP 1.137 and BAA .198)...and overall his ERA is 3.30 (WHIP 1.20)......Solid!...In additon, Zambrano in his last game at St Louis he went up against the Cards Ace Carpenter..and both had a shutdown battle which saw both of them go 9 innings with both of them allowing only 1 ER each, however Zambrano only allowed 3 hits while Carpenter gave up 8 hits...and one of those hits was to Pujols who went deep off Zambrano...Besides that one bad pitch leading to the only run scored off of him, Zambrano also recorded a solid 12 K's on the Cards lineup while not giving up any walks in the process....Damn Solid!

More solid stats on Zambrano...he has an ERA of just 2.08, WHIP of 1.18, and is allowing opponents to average just .202 hitting against him in Day games, where he has a 4-1 record this year....Also, vs RHB's this year...Zambrano is allowing them to hit just .207 and has a WHIP of 1.07....Vs LHBs he is allowing them to average .223 hitting against him....Zambrano is basically not an easy pitcher to get a hit against..and his low .215 BAA he allows is the 4th lowest in the Majors so far this year....Plus, he also ranks 9th in the Majors in the most K's dished out as well.

Lastly, Zambrano in his last 5 games has only given up 1 HR (to the Cards)....and 6 ERs with 2 games being Shutouts....Also 4 of his last 5 starts he allowed 5 hits or less...4 of his last 5 starts he went at least 7 innings (2 eight inn and 1 CG vs St Louis).

Marquis, on the other hand, has an overall ERA of 4.25, WHIP of .136, and BAA of .258...However, he also ranked 8th the league with the most HRs given up this year...and St Louis has gone 1-9 their last 10 games which he started....In his last 3 games he has allowed 20 hits, 14 ERs, 3 HRs, 9 walks to just 7 K's...

On the Road, Marquis has recently gone 1-4 in this last 5...and his last road win was way back on June 4th....In his starts in Day games is where he seems to struggle alot as he is just 4-4 in his last 10 day game starts...but he has given up 65 hits, 39 runs, over half of his total HRs allowed this year, 18 walks to just 21 K's in alittle over 59 innings....In addition, in his Day starts he has his highest ERA of 4.68, WHIP of 1.40, and highest BAA at .279..

Marquis has currently lost 4 straight games, which includes an 8-1 spanking from Atlanta in his last start, and his ERA rising to 6.56 in this span...Overall on the road this year he is just 4-5 in 11 starts and has an ERA of 3.69....He continues to struggle as his last win was all the way back on June 10...Not Good!

The Cubs stopped the bleeding they had with a solid win over the NL's best team yesterday....The positive about it was that it wasn't a lucky win but a solid dominating win....Lee homered twice, Ramirez went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, and Patterson had 3 hits....In fact, the first 6 hitters in the lineup for the Cubs finished with multi-hit game, which combined for 16 hits driving in their 11 runs scored on Pujols and his wounded Cards....Hell, even Maddux threw a complete game, the first of the season...Now that is dominance.

Today, I feel that this dominance should occur again...but it this time will be at the hands of the Z-Man on the hill....Zambrano should have his way vs this Cards team who he has kept in check and who is coming in with alot of injuries as well...Zambrano is coming off a short outing vs the Mets in his last game, which he was tagged early in the game....but today, in the Day, and at Home he is the Big Man....and the Cards is his Bitch as he gets his Revenge from that heartbreaking loss he suffered vs them, while he pitched the best game of this season....Today, he shows them that that shutdown game was no fluke!

*Other Stats and Trends I like in this one...

-Cubs 4-2 vs St Louis this season

-Cubs 11-9 at Home the last 3 season vs St Louis.

-Yesterday their offense finally exploded putting up 11 runs, 16 hits, and 2 HRs.

-Marquis vs RHPs is allowing them to average .272 off of him, with 11 HRs...and vs LHB he has a WHIP of 1.43.

Again..the Cubs Zambrano should have another shutdown game vs these injury plague Cardinals team who they hate as well....If I am not mistaken, these two are long time Rivals who really dont like losing to eachother....and with this, I have to go with the Home team who has the better pitcher and who will be more motivated because the Cards are also the leaders in the NL and now the hunted..... Go Z-Man and Go Cubs!

                *REGULAR PLAY ON:

                Cubs/Cards Under 9 +116

-Check back later for another Comp in the Night games....or just get on the Rest of My Best ...and get them all....Aloha CC.

-No time to get indepth Write-Up in for this one...but I like this Dog with Towers over the O's and Cabrera, who is losing his control....which is always a big negative against this youngster...Not fooled by the O's 3 game win streak as it came vs TB..and this Balt team has only won 6 of 24 games since July 14...Balt now over 10 games back of the Wild Card race, fired their manager, and in the midst of the Steroid controversy....and their young starter Cabrera fading of late with them...going 0-3 in his last 3 with an ERA of over 6..and this after starting out 3-0 after the All Star break....Like Toronto who is still in a close race and surging right now.....GL and Aloha CC.

                          • *FYI:

-This was my Write-Up and Analysis for this Comp Play on he A's.

                            **TOP RATED COMP PLAY ON:

                            Oaktown +106

-This may look to easy and like a Trap, but I am banging it anyways...as the matchups, fundamentals, situational, and statistical info says to side with the Home Dog, who btw is also the Hottest team in the league right now....Many taking Minny with Santana..but dont overlook this youngster pitching for the A's tonight....Everyone talking about Harden and Zito....but Haren is making his way to top of the list...He started the year on a down note when the A's were slumping badly early in the season...but now he is going for his 10th consecutive win...and he has not tasted defeat since May 26, something both Harden and Zito cannot make the same claim.

Haren has already beaten this Minny team in the Dome on Aug 2nd...only giving up 2 ERs on 2 HRs in 7 innings....this he followed up by pitching 7 shutout innings over KC....Santana is coming off two starts which the Twins lost...vs these A's and last start vs Boston both at home...Today's game wont be as easy for the Twins just because he is on the hill again...The reason for these losses was due to his support not putting up enough to take advantage of his solid pitching....and when this happens sooner or later good hitting teams will catch up to you, just like Boston did in his last start.

The A's are currently overall on the year vs LHPs is 21-11, averaging 5.6 rpg, and hitting .283 at the plate...In the A's last 10 games vs LHPs they are averaging .327 vs them...Minny, on the other hand, vs RHPs is only hitting .248 in the last 10 games vs them.....In addition, in the A's last 7 games, they are averaging an impressive 6.9 rpg, .323 hitting, and .385 OBP...while they allow opponents to only 3.3 rpg, .223 hitting, and .287 OBP...Minny, on the other hand, in their past 7 games is 3-4, hitting just .258, and OBP of .309...Not Good!

Hell, Minny should have gotten swept by the M's in their last series which they showed how bad their offensive production has fallen....Their pitching staff in this series has pitched very well, shutting down the M's offense...but again, you cannot win if you dont score runs on offense and take advantage of the solid outings by their starters on the hill....The A's meanwhile have the balance play, which was able to help them take 2 of 3 vs the Angels...and this balance play of offense and defense is what has allowed them to run off 19 wins in their last 22 games..

In the series win over the Angels, the A's incredibly has moved 1 game ahead of them in the division...Unreal!...Santana in his 5 career starts vs the A's 2-1...but he does have an ERA of 4.09....Haren, 2nd time facing the Twins...and he still has the ability to styme these Twins even more...I believe he will...and with the fact that the As have now overtaken the Angels...you damn well expect these guys to pumped up and very motivated to keep things rolling....Dont expect them to stop now...Minny still needs to be taken out, and they know this as well....Santana wont be enough tonight!...Pitching stops good hitting, but no offense no dice..

*Other Stats and Trends I like in this one...

-A's 3-1 vs Minny this year...and have won 5 of its last 6 games vs the Twins.
-A's have the 2nd Best BP in the league...and they already beat the Angels BP who is the best in the league.
                            -A's 43-24 after a win..
-A's 19-8 vs teams with a winning record in the 2nd half of the season.
                            -A's 37-19 at Home
-Minny just 26-30 on the Road.
-Minny just 21-29 in games played on Grass.
-Minny just 7-13 vs teams with winning records in the 2nd half of the season.
-Minny is 1-6 in their last seven road games
                            -A's is 10-0 in Haren's last 10 starts
-A's are 25-5 in their last 30 overall
-A's is 7-2 in the last nine meetings.

Tonight the A's keep it rolling.....GL and Dont miss out on the Rest of My Best coming up for this Big Weekend .....GL to Us and LETS GO GET EM!....Aloha CC.
