          • FYI: "MNF" PLAY & WRITE-UP RELEASED!

*Special-TOP RATED PLAY OF THE WEEK:

            Detroit Lions -3

-One reason I like this play is due to Detroit having two legitamate QB's in Harrington and All Pro Garcia, who both will continue fighting for that #1 spot...I used this situation in my last play with SD when they hosted the Rams last Sunday....I felt that the QB competition they had with Rivers and Brees would produce alot more plays for positive results and also provide the Chargers with a much better matchup throughout the game as both Rivers and Brees will try to make the most of their series on offense, vs the Rams backups who should be no match for them...In today's game, the situation is very similar if not the same...especially as Garcia has already claimed his intention to be the starter....But, below are more Key Advantages and Situational Edges that I feel the Lions will have in their favor tonight.

*Key Advantange #1: Detroit Has More Depth At QB Position....and in the Skilled Positions...

-As I mentioned above...Detroit has two solid QB's who will definately will want to make the most of their time in the game tonight....and especially infront of the fans, who have been abit impatient with how slow this offense is coming along.....Starter Harrington has been the more accurate of the two QB's (completing 14-of-15 attempts for 146 yards and a 107.2 passer rating) but that hasnt equated to more points scored....Garcia, has had some errant passes picked off but he does have a pass for a TD....One of these guys is going to have to step up and take the overall lead for this teams top spot, or else this Lion team is going to blow yet another chance to make the playoffs again.

Detroit's Offense is loaded with a bevy of young and very talented WR's and they must be on edge and ready for a break out game...Hell, it’s so good that Kevin Johnson is the No. 4 receiver behind Roy Williams, Charles Rogers and rookie Mike Williams....The Rams also has a potent offense again, but in this preseason game I dont expect them to be that much enthusiastic about showing they still got what it takes to live up to their "Best Show on Turf" title they once had...No reason to do that tonight...however for this young offense for Detroit, now is the time to start getting things rolling and these youngsters will do just that....The previous games they were efficient with the short passing game, but did stall in the Redzone and only scored 16 points so far...Those games were early and the rust was showing..plus they were facing more solid defenses than what the Rams will today...so I dont see the same sputtering to occur as much, if at all...Tonight, I expect not only those WRs to have a good night...but I feel their night will be determined by how well this Detroit team can establish that running game with their most important weapon in RB Jones..

Side Note: Both QB's should see alot of action tonight as the Lions are going to play their first team for at least the first half and possibly into the 3rd as well....With this being the 3rd week on the preseason, I expect them to play it like a regular season game...as this week is usually the game teams approach like a regular game.

*Key Advantange #2: Rams Defense Cant Stop Anyone...Luvie Smith's Lost Is Still Going to Be Felt.

-The Rams still can't stop the run, and the Lions do have the better QB depth and a balanced offense...to be able to take advantage of this weakness upfront...just like the Chargers did in their 36 to 21 pounding they gave to the Rams..

The Lions’ has a very talent and explosive RB in second-year running back Kevin Jones...Alot of people are overlooking this guy, but he is the most important key that will determine most of this teams offensive success...Last year, he suffered injuries as well as trying to learn how to play a pro style game.....However, he still was the NFL's most prolific rusher the second half of the season last year after recovering from a high ankle sprain and getting comfortable in the offense...Jones rushed for 825 yards the final seven games, an average of 117 yards per game...and this year he is projected and expected by some, to come close to the 2,000 yard rushing mark...If that happens, this Detroit team will roll and those WRs will have a field day against most secondaries in this league..

In tonight's matchup with this poor Rams defense, I see Jones and his OL being able to control that front 7 of the Rams and that should allow both Garcia and Harrington the time needed to work that short and long game, we know they have...The Rams provide a perfect opportunity to do just that as they struggled terribly once more vs SD's run attack...In addition, the Rams defense has allowed an average of 364.5 yards in its first two preseason contests...which also includes two 50+ yard runs against them......Perfect!

Rams LB'ers have a ton of speed, but their discipline to their lanes is really lacking and their lack of size seems to not bold well against teams which want to establish the LOS against them....Bottom line is, the Rams should of gotten rid of Crazy Martz and kept Defensive Guru Luvie Smith instead....His lost will be felt again this year...and as long as they have DC Marmie leading the defense.

            *SITUATIONAL EDGE:

-This game is going to be on National TV and it is also the 1st Monday night game at Ford Field for Detroit...whic has gotten this team and city reved up and excited....And this is game being at Home is a blessing for us Lions backers as Coach Mariucci, although being lax at times during the preseason....he has still been able to lead the Lions to a 4-4 SU and 3-5 ATS record the past two seasons...However, at HOME in this span, he is 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS....a total opposite of his 0-4 SU and ATS on the Road....Mariucci knows how important it is to please the home town fans, especially Detroit, who is expecting bigger things each year...with this talent they have assembled on the offensive side of the ball.. .

Sometimes a coach will put forth a more specific effort at home (to get in good with the fans), while treating their road games much less serious...This I feel will happen once more as Mariucci is not a stupid coach by any means...while we know for a fact that Martz is a Dumbshit...and his he is only 2-8 SU and 3-7 ATS away from the Dome in the preseason...

Side Note: Martz doesnt care about the preseason...and I dont expect him to care about this one at all...However, what I do expect him to care about is the fact that he needs to turn things around in a big way this year or he is gone...and with the Rams lucking out this year with having the easiest schedule in the league, he knows he has a shot to do that...so I dont expect him to take unnecessary risk in these meaningless exhibition games.

*Some Stats, Trends, and Info: favoring the Lions.

-Rams just 12-22 ATS as a Dog in the pre-season.

-Rams also just 1-5 ATS in their next pre-season game after allowing 28 points or more. ...Rams gave up 36 pts to the Chargers in their last pre-season game.

-The Rams, under Mike Martz, are 8-18 SU and 7-19 ATS in their last 26 preseason games on the road.... This is an example of a team to look to play ON when it's at home, but to FADE on the road.

I am laying the 3 with the Lions as I expect them to have a break out game, especially on Offense...With all that talent just waiting to explode...tonights game being at Home and on MNF provides them the perfect opportunity to showcase their talent...While this pourous defense of the Rams provides them the perfect opponent to notch a much needed win at Home and in this important 3rd week of the preseason.... The Lions Roar Tonight!

Contact me for the Rest of My Best in the Bases and Football, as well as in the WNBA playoffs...Lets Rock-N-Roll.....GL and Aloha CC.

            • *COMP PLAY 4 "BIG MONDAY" ....ENJOY!

              *REGULAR PLAY ON:

              SD/ZONA Under 8.5 +103

-Both pitchers have been definately off their game....but their offense as well has been absent of late...Before Sunday nights Bombs by Zona vs Philly...they have only scored 12 runs in 6 games..and hitting just .178 over this span...In their last 10 games vs RHPs they are only hitting .235 and overall in this span are just hitting .209.

SD, not any better as they have only averaged just 3.1 rpg in their last 7 games...and are hitting just .237 vs RHPs in their last 10 games vs them...One thing however is that SD has been playing solid on the defensive end holding opponents to just 3.9 rpg and .221 hitting in this span.

Today this one is at Petco Park, so I dont expect Zona to be hitting it out of this park so easily...Like Green's Grand Slam and Glaus 3 run HR yesterday in their house....Also, the Padres should be without their best hitter in Giles, who had to leave yesterday's game with an injury....He currently is the only Padre starter that is hitting .300 and he also leads them in RBIs as well....The next best batting average behind him is Klesko's .258..

*Some more Stats, Trends, and Info:

-Zona just 1-7 in Ortiz's last 8 starts
-Zona is 2-5 in their last 7 road games
-The Under is 7-3 in SD last 10 Home games.
-The Under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in SD
-Zona's Ortiz has dominated SD in the past going 12-3 vs them with a 3+ ERA.
-Williams also has a 3+ ERA vs Zona in his starts vs them.

This one worth a shot at staying Under as long as both pitchers dont give it away...But, I like the Padres to take the lead and then close it out with Hoffman, like they did in yesterdays game.....GL and Aloha CC.

                        • **TOP RATED COMP PLAY 4 "ALOHA FRIDAY...ENJOY!

                          Indiana -7

-I have to side with the Hoosiers in this game...and one reason is the absence of CMich's Mr Everything in RB Seymour, who was projected to finish among the top 10 in the nation this year in total offense...However, with his suspension from the team it will change the whole successful complexity of this CMich team on offense...Seymour, not only led the team in rushing but also in receiving as well...and was the main reason why this offense was able to rank 2nd in the Mac in rushing and also put up over 400 yards per game as well...His lost is Huge to say the least, as now this offense will most likely now turn to their attention to its passing attack...

Indy this year returns 9 starters on defense and their strength will be up front where they are experinced...I expect them to control this line of scrimmage and also to be able to shutdown any run game CMich will try to develop without Seymour's help...

Indy on Offensive did lose their skilled players, but this team did return the bulk of there OL which is a plus for their new QB that will need to be protected until he can develop some rythum in this spread offense...I also do see Indy also winning this battle in the trenches as well, as this is a big OL from the Big Ten, where they are averaging over 300 lbs per man across the line...and they should be able to pound the smallish CMich front 7 with their 2 SR RB tandem...Last year, CMich's opponents averaged 171 ypg on the ground vd the Chippewas..and this is what I see Indy exploiting and establishing today...When they find success running it on this defense, then expect that to open up the passing game...Last season, the Chippewas pass defense was the area they struggled the most allowing opponents to average over 260 ypg through the air...I dont expect to much from this new Indy QB today, but I do see both trenches being controled by the Hoosiers and when that happens, the offense wont need to pass and the defense will be able to pin back their ears and focus on getting QB Kent.

As mentioned, without CMich's Jerry "The Franchise" Seymour in the game tonight...Indy's defense with their 9 starters should be able to clean up the rest of this MAC team, who they have never lost to posting an 11-0 record and a 41-10 blowout in last years game...Big Ten wont get pushed around and new HC Hoeppner will have his team playing more exciting yet disciplined ball...and that should be enough to get his first win....Go Indy!

I also am playing a Two Team 7 pt Teaser...with:

                          *REGULAR TEASER PLAY ON:

                            Indy .5 -123

-Just like I figured without Seymour in the game this offense just wont have the ability to make up what they lose without him...His threat running and receiving is so important to the success of this offense...Even QB Smith cant get anything going as he has been a solid runner as well last season...however today, without the threat of Seymour..the Indy defense is just keying up on him and that is the cause of his going -20 yards rushing...

Indy also this half should continue picking on those very small secondary of CMich...CB's 5-9 and 5-8, Rover 5-9, with only FS 6-0.....Not going to work against Hardy as he is 6-6...Hardy already had 94 yards and 1 TD in the first half...I expect him to again attack them with his overwhelming height advantage, since CMich seems to want to concentrate on stopping Indy's running game...Wont work here!

                            Under 24
