I don't think the Suns gave a damn about the total, but instead were just trying to stick it to tthe Lakers and Kobe Bryant especially. This series was personal, and when they got their chance tonight, they dug the knife as deep as they possibly could. Busting the over was just a byproduct of that.

2 THINGS---
1- the nba is always kinda fishy, and todays game definately falls in that category
2- The public was all over the over, so don't know if the powers at be were thrilled it went over. fishy none the least to get THAT MANY POINTS IN THAT LITTLE TIME

Adam
Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!

Originally posted by savage1To sum my feelings up. I still say that 35 points scored in the last 4:45 seconds when score is 103-73 is VERY unusual, and even more so, when it is considered that the added "effort" when none was needed, put the game over the total.
ps I can't prove anything;I am merely trying to express a possibility based on my perception of the NBA.
SAvage there was no conspiracy last night. I wathed the end of the game. The Suns cleared the bench. The Suns made their last 6 shots including two 3 pointers with only one layup. One three pointer was by Burke, their 3rd sting center from well beyond the 3 point line.
To further disprove your Laker theory Kobe was benched the last 5 minutes of the game. One would think that if there was a fix on the OVER Kobe would have remained in the game.

As I said in a previous post, I chose not to watch move of the last few minutes as i had a bet on the Over on which I had essentially given up.
Chung informed me it was the Suns who were as much as fault as the Lakers for trying to score near the end. The question is why.
If this was an isolated incident, I would say there would be less chance I was right;this kind of stuff has happened before though.
I still maintain that under most conditions nowhere near 35 points would be scored with 4:45 remaining and one team leading by 30 points;most times the game slows down, and both teams want to get the game over with, and the team leading doesn't want to embarrass the other team especially on national tv.
Chung made some interesting comments about the Sac/SA game the other night when total fell 1/2 point short of going over.
I guess you and I will have to agree to disagree;we have both watched many NBA games;I say at times for for financial reasons and when the opportunity presents itself there are attempts made by players, refs, etc. to control the ATS outcome or total.
You diasagree-fine. That is why forums like this exist.Last edited by savage1; 05-07-2006, 11:59 AM.

Great post by cheech i completly agree.. And as far as Savage saying why would the Suns want to run up the score on the Fakers if you remember correctly all the bad blood these 2 teams have against each other and Kobe and Nash at each other all series. Bitch ass Kobe running that mouth each and every play.. Rapist ass Brown cheapshotting people.. Why wouldnt the Suns want to blow the Fakers out of the building in Game 7?? Makes alot of sense to me.. If I were the Suns coach I would have told them to run the shit out of the score

The Suns wanted to win by 40. They had no intentions of holding back or slowing down. They continued to play their run & gun style until the end and the game went over!
You always have a chance at the over when it's a blowout because it turns into the All Star game and people just start running and throwing shit up!
NO FIX ... (IMO)!

In my mind anyone who thinks that at times there are not sometimes attempts in the NBA to control what happens is not seeing reality especially if he has watched many games (especially many times in the fourth quarter after the actual winner was decided) and was aware of the point spread and total.
