Sometimes you just dont' know until you actually see them not on a TV screen. The perception is definetly not the reality with some of the athletes.
I'm glad you had a good time. And BTW....I heard from a LOT of my cubs buddies that the weekend you all were in Chicago we treated you all very well, and vise versa. A couple close friends said that it was like meeting old friends there. Everyone went out and went to all the bars and there were no fights no arguing, no huge trash talk...nothing like that.
Very classy on both parties!

Wayne-no need for sarcasm about understanding something.
I agree with Rook with most of what he says.
I would say however that unless you knew for a fact as to how many people Wakefield had signed for as opposed to not signing for over HIS ENTIRE CAREER, then no conclusions can be drawn for not signing for a day or two.
What is certain is that Wakefield had done this wonderful charity work OVER HIS ENTIRE career or at least while in Boston.
By my way of thinking, I can draw some positive conclusions based on the established history morew than say a couple of days of hearsay or perhaps one sided opinions as to what actually transpired between Wakefield and some fans.

Ok Wayne-I guess because you say so, Wakefield must be a no good self-serving jerk because he did years of charity work, spending time in hospitals, etc. (only for self-serving reasons by your definition), never bitches about what role he is asked to serve in as apitcher, starter or reliever, doesn't whine about his contract as did Pedro in the middle of the season, shows a lot of loyalty by staying here, is loved by management, his teammates, the community;no that doesn't mean ashit by your standard-signing autographs are what is all about(and as stated, you can't say definitively how other fans perceive him, how many he has signed for over the years, etc.).
It seems to me that what I stated means something. Can all the people cited above be wrong and you necessarily right?

Savage it WAS MY OPINION from post number 1.
You are the one that felt the need to jump in and defend a man you have probably never seen except for on the field or T.V.
Me and many others had a bad experience with him in Cleveland. It's not hearsay, it's a fact and i saw and lived it, unlike yourself!

He was an ass in Cleveland. That's a fact and my own experience that savage is somehow trying to dispute. I'm a Sox fan and i went (drove) 12 hours to see them. Why would i make that shit up about my own beloved team when i could have left it out very easily. If it was one incident you would not have heard about it, but it wasn't!

Wayne-if you fbet horses and saw that a horse had a great track record, was in the money every time, and then in his last race, finished last, would you conclude that the horse was no good? I think not.
Obviously horses aren't people, but I maintain based on Wakefield's "track record" as alluded to in my posts, I would give him the benefit of the doubt rather than just draw some bad conclusions on a couple of days experience.
ps I am going to take in some nice warm sunshine;I like that as I am sure you do.
I won't be able to respond for a while.Last edited by savage1; 06-24-2005, 02:16 PM.

If savage went to Baltimore and said Damon was an ass i wouldn't respond with yes,l that's o.k., he's a great guy because he was in the hospital last week. It would be wow, that's surprising and disappointing. I certainly wouldn't dispute his claim or try to defend the player for his actions!

Horses? Yes, not people or even comparable. You have lost your mind. Compare with something that actually SPEAKS next time. OMG your amazing!
