No doubt the two best teams got there. I am actually impressed at how the Celtics got there beating Detroit in Detroit. I have read several articles over the last few weeks about a Lakers Celtics match up and it seems it is what they wanted. Should be a great series. But I really think the Lakers and Kobe will be too much. I am not a big Doc fan, and love Jackson as a coach. I think this Laker team may just bring Phil another ring.
I do have to tell anyone who reads this something. After months of "pounding" over my opinion of Lebron. I took a long hard look at him and tried my hardest to be non-bias. He as I have said before is an incredible athlete. By all indications one of the top 4 players in the NBA. And I do believe that when it is all said and done he will (YES even by me) be considered one of the GREATEST to ever play the game.
It is amazing as the last few months have went by I have posed my question as to how does winning coincide with GREATNESS. In team sports I have learned it is hard to put so much weight on winning. And watching Lebron in the Celtics series, you could see why. Team sports are hard to use winning in the scenario. It is the reason it is easier to call Tiger GREAT or a pitcher in baseball GREAT (they basically can control their fate) in hoops and most all team sports that is hard to do. Lebron really IMPRESSED me in the playoff series against Boston, and I can actually say I have become sort of a fan of his.
But more importantly then that, I have become a big fan of Kobe. If there will ever be anyone to compare to his airness, I think it will be Kobe. He can get his shot anytime, turn it on and off as needed and is such a leader. I have become a big FAN and really think he and his Lakers will get it done. When asked about the comparison to Mike, Kobe said "I am just trying to be the best ME I can be". I LOVE that attitude and have found a new appreciation for young King James! I hope every one enjoys the Lakers/Celtics series, it will be a blast to watch.
