    A late 1st rounder and a pick that was Minnesota's to begin with from the Ricky Davis trade. Technically, Boston gave one mid to late 1st round pick of their own away. Again, not really a big deal.

      the Number 1's won't matter- Celts should be near the final or semis for the next 4-5 years....meaning-very late picks...nothing special...

          People are just dying to yell "TOO MUCH" but in reality we stole those guys and people around here are saying the Legend of Kevin Mchale just keeps growing in Boston. Thanks Kevin, We still love #32

            Maybe so, but it only takes one great move to make fans forget the past. Great move by Ainge ... FINALLY!

                Boston had to do something. They have been awful for a very long time and they can't continue to wait, and wait and wait for players to develop. They have taken a huge gamble because if these acquisitions do not work, they will be screwed for a VERY long time with no cap flexibilty.

                Can you believe that Garnett at almost $19 million will be the thrid highest paid player on the team!?

                  Amare Stoudamire for Garnett and people were saying Phoenix should do it. We give Jefferson and a bunch of bench players and people say we screwed up. That is WHACK!

                    And it took a former Celtic to help bail them out!

                          Yes you did ! I love Mchale...he should have been gone a fews years back ! basketball is my least favorite sport- but he has made a ton of bad decisions the last 7-10 years on his Draft choices.... I like the idea of starting over with new fresh young guys.... gives me a reason to start going to games again !

                            Here is one, John Hollinger, that didn't...you are right though, most do love it. BTW, Hollinger must have been reading your posts last night when referring to the people drinking the koolaid!!

                            But until then, Ainge's work is far from done. Even in the watered-down Eastern Conference, the trio of Pierce, Allen and Garnett doesn't guarantee dominance. I suppose there are Celtics Kool-Aid drinkers out there who will tell you that Glen "Big Baby" Davis and Gabe Pruitt can fill the void, and we won't know for certain whether that's true until the games start.

                            But the history of second-round draft picks says don't hold your breath, and after making moves for Allen and Garnett, probably giving themselves a two- or three-year window to contend, it seems foolish for the Celtics to leave their fate in those players' hands.

                            But in the end, Ainge may come up short regardless of how many more cards he plays. The idea of cashing in all your chips is to leave yourself with a team that's truly great. The Celtics with Garnett are merely pretty good, and at this late stage in the free-agent market, I'm not sure they can get much better.

                                2007 Record:

                                Boston = 24-58
                                Minnesota = 32-50

                                If nothing else, Boston just traded their entire team minus Pierce for a guy that won 32 games on his own in a more difficult conference.
