Yes but why compare them to a team not in the playoffs if it ended today and 3rd in their own division? Pitching is great but these West teams never make the WS anymore because they can't hit a lick in the post season. I would take the NYM or Milw. lineup anyday over all of the West!

Good pitching in that division but horrible lineups!
Padres are second to last in batting averages as a team and they have the best record in the west.

Unreal as how good they can be if they have one more good bat.

Can't wait for this weekend as the best in AL will be visiting us.

      Wayne,

care to put a friendly wager on the this weekend series? We win the series, you pay for my NFL pool and vice versa?

I just picked out the highest scoring team in the NL. It's suprising to see, but the Mets have only scored 2 more runs than the Padres in the same number of games this year with a staff ERA 1 point higher.

May change this year. Milw is 5-6 against the West Div
While SD and LA are 14-6, 15-7 respectively against NL Central

                Timely hitting i guess.

San Diego's pitching stats are greatly helped by their own division which they face a ton and is very weak offensively.

Who is pitching this weekend for you?

I think we have Young, Peavy, and Maddux pitching this weekend.

Personally, i think the best team in the West and the team with the best chance of reaching the WS is the Dodgers hand down. I don't trust Peavy in the Playoffs and i'm really liking Pierre, Kent, Furcal, Garciaparra and Mr. Russell Martin ALOT more than what S.D. has. (JMO)

What scare me for the Padres is that they have not have any pitcher hurt yet. Hensley is injured, but Germano was a great replacement.

Better be hurt early than late.

I have no idea who is pitching but Boston is talking about resting a few guys and i don't like hearing that.

You may be right here. Those guys hasn't really been hitting. Except for Martin.

Pierre has been all over the bases lately. I think he had a huge day again yesterday. What a nightmare on the bases. He had 3 steals yesterday too.

Can you believe that the Pads have 18 more HR than LA?

Last year the Dodgers finished 27th in HR's and behind S.D.

                                It isn't really shocking.
