el duque is 6-4 with the mets and his era had dropped a run too can't be that bad. Glavine is so bad that he went winless for 7 starts and in 5 of them gave up 3 runs or less. Maine is 2-3 in 6 starts with a 2.08 era wow he's terrible. Forgot about traschel basically there 5th starter right now at 11-5. The main problem with these guys is they don't go deep in games but in playoffs only 3 or max 4 starters are used so maine or traschel can come in strenghten a decent bullpen.
Im shocked nobody has pulled up the Tigers thread.....they are struggling bad......im thinkin they lose 2 of 3 to the Red Sox before comin home and hopefully gettin back on track
Fuck do I hate slumps......this shit gets tighter and I start sweatin.
3 days is all it takes folks and you can go from the penhouse to the outhouse

There is no reason yet to push the panic button, as they are still in driver's seat.
As a Sox fan, I have a lot more to be worried about than you with 8 huge games with Detroit and NY coming.
not to win the WS. nl wont win it all. no way no how. AL is far superior to the NL, its not even close. mets pitching is suspect @ best. pedro and who else? glavine is as old as spark, El puke-A sucks, who else they got? john maine? oh i forgot they have that gas can billie jean wagner who impoldes in the clutch as well
The Mets might not win but your reasoning is off base.
First, very few teams have quality starters. Outside of one bad outing El-Puke's been solid his last 7 starts. 42 IP with 11 ER 36K, 9 BB with a 2.36 ERA. His last loss was on June 30 against the New York Yankees 2-0. (Incidently, our golf weekend lol)
Second, in a short series you only need two quality starters. I'd still take Pedro and Glavine over most of baseball. The Yanks have the greatest closer in baseball history. That being said. Mo has been vulnerable the past few seasons. Let's not forget he lost the 2001 series to the D-backs. He blew another save vs. Boston in 2004.
Finally, the teams heavily favored to win the series often loses ie 1969 Orioles, 1990 Reds, 2001 D-backs, 2003 Marlins.
What happens during the season is meaningless in the WS.

Everyone has a slump...Tigers were due. I think the one thing that struck me from this weekend is what seems to be their impatience at the plate...22K's and 1 BB in 3 games. I will be the first to admit that I did not see any of the three games and just studying a box score does not paint the whole picture and I have watched VERY few Tiger games overall. But this will be an interesting trend to watch to see if it continues.
Young players + team slumping + pennant race= players trying too do to much.

El Duque has been very good for us. That is a perfect example where a trade benefitted both teams as Julio has pitched well.
As for Mo...if you are put in a position to suceed while in the spotlight as many times as he has been, you would fail once or twice. He is still the guy I would want on the mound in the bottom of the 9th. BUT...he does you no good if your starters and middle relief can't get you to him.
And back to the Mets...I expect them to get to the World Series. I would never have said that 2 months ago but that statement is more of an idictment of the N.L. than it is about the quality of the Mets team...and you know what...anything can happen in a 7 game series. They aren't the best team in baseball, but they just need to be for a week and they can do that.
5-0 Detroit. Game surely isn't over, but I think the sweep of Baltimore this weekend masks the real problems which continue to exist with this team without Varitek, Wakefield, etc. and which showed themselves clearly with the pitiful performances last week against TB and KC.
