Fact of the matter is that it is a looooong season and there are ups and downs and baseball is a game of averages that come out over a large body of work.....That is why i love it because a .300 hitter who starts off hitting .200 usually will pan out whereas a guy hitting .330 for the beginning (a la mike lowell) will settle in to what type of hitter he really is....like a .275ish type guy.....That is why i do not take hair trigger responses in baseball seriously.....
the mets have as good a chance as anybody and this time of the year sometimes is matchups and who gets on a roll at the right time....Comment

Baseball unlike the other sports is based on streaks. Teams are never as good as they look and they are never as bad as they look.
When the Mets were swept by the Red Sox they were in the middle of a slump. Prior to the Sox series they lost 6 of 10. After the Sox series they dropped 3 of 4. It happens. It happens to the best teams. Even the shitty teams get hot. Ask Griswold. He's an expert on catching streaking teams.Comment
