13) Cincinnati Bengals when Marvin Lewis was coach: 131-122-3 (2003-18)

Cincinnati Bengals without Marvin Lewis as coach: 42-147 (1991-2002, 2019)

Bengals went 0-7 in playoff games under Lewis, so the natives got restless and they fired him, which now seems like a mistake.

12) Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but Tom Brady IS NOT the best quarterback ever; he’s won the most Super Bowls, but thats not the argument:

If we were drafting football teams, with every player ever in their prime eligible, which QB would you take to start your team?

11) New England Patriots have started 23 drives in opponent territory, a big reason why they’re 9-1- their offense isn’t so great this year, but their defense/special teams are.

10) Rhode Island 70, Nicholls State 65— Colonels lost three of first four D-I games, losing in OT at Illinois, by 10 at LSU- they won at Pittsburgh.

Nicholls starts three seniors and a junior; they should be a contender in the Southland Conference this winter.

9) Virginia 61, Vermont 55— Catamounts beat St John’a LW, are pretty heavy favorite to win America East this winter.

8) Kansas 75, East Tennessee State 63—Jayhawks won despite going 1-14 on the arc, a number we’ll keep an eye on as conference play gets closer.

7) Very good commercial on the Memphis Grizzlies’ local telecast; realtor.com, with NBA star Lou Williams, who has played for six teams in his 15-year NBA career, saying how whenever he has to move (they show a couple of his old houses) he uses realtor.com

Williams has earned over $74M in salary in his career, so he can afford nice houses.

6) Radford 67, Northwestern 56— Going to be a long winter for the Wildcats; if you lose at home to Merrimack/Redford, playing in the Big 14 figures to be a big problem.

5) Houston 97, Rice 89— Owls led their crosstown rivals 39-32 at the half, but lost to Houston for 6th time in a row.

Cougars scored 65 points in the second half.

4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-8 ATS) are the worst NFL team against the pointspread so far this season.

3) Montana Tech 74, Montana 72— Griz were in the NCAA’s the last two years, but lost their first two D-I games this month, then lose here to the Orediggers, who play in the Frontier League. This was Montana’s first loss to a non-D-I team since they lost to Alaska-Anchorage in 2002- their last losing season was in 2008.

2) Boston U 78, South Carolina 70— Gamecocks were in Final Four three years ago, but are 36-33 since then, 18-18 in SEC games. SEC teams shouldn’t lose to Patriot League teams.

1) A student manager for South Carolina’s football team got fired after he was arrested for public disorderly conduct when he got into a fight with a guy on Halloween night who dressed up as South Carolina football coach Will Muschamp.

SEARCHING FOR OFFENSE EARLY

The Brooklyn Nets have not found much success early in games averaging just 48.7 first half points in their last three games, and only put up 35 at home last time out to the Pacers. Today, the Nets host a Charlotte Hornets team who haven’t been much better when it comes to quick starts, averaging 51.3 first half points.

With Kyrie Irving out for a third straight game, expect a lower scoring first half. That has also been a common trend when these teams meet, with the average score over their most recent 10 games coming in at 55-52 for the Hornets. Bet Under the first half game total of 113.5.

HEATING UP THE HOME COURT

The Miami Heat are 10.5-point favorites as they host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight and for good reason as they have been perfect at home so far this season. Miami has won all five home games, covering the spread in each instance, and have won 16 straight contests when playing the Cavs at home.

Miami has really turned up the heat on the defensive end at home, holding opponents to 100 points per contest and is going up against a Cavaliers team that is scoring only 102.1 on the road. With Cleveland failing to eclipse 100 points in three of its last four games and facing a Miami team, which held them to 97 points and 25 percent shooting from beyond the arc at home back on Nov. 14, expect the Heat's defense to take over once again. Bet Under the Cavaliers team total of 101.5.

OUT FOR REVENGE

The Utah Jazz takes their elite defense, which is tied with the Lakers for giving up the fewest points per game in the Association at 101.1, on the road as they travel to Minnesota to take on a Timberwolves team that will be playing without Andrew Wiggins.

These teams are playing the second half of a home-and-home series, where Minnesota upset the Jazz 112-102 as 9.5-point underdogs in Utah on Nov. 18 and held the Jazz to only 36.5 percent shooting from the floor.

It’s not very often you get an immediate shot at redemption like this. Expect the Jazz to clean up their mistakes and find their groove offensively versus a T-wolves squad surrendering 117.3 points per game. Take Utah to cover the 3-point spread.

OFFENSE VS. DEFENSE

The Denver Nuggets are 1-point home favorites as they host the Houston Rockets. Houston has won eight straight contests overall, eight straight versus Western Conference opponents, and nine of the most recent 10 in the head-to-head versus Denver.

Except for their two most recent games against the Hawks and Grizzlies, the Nuggets have not put up many points per game. But they haven't had to, as they’ve held opponents to 100.4 points per game at home. However, with the way the Rockets are shooting, averaging 122.7 points over their most recent three games, the Nuggets might struggle to keep up offensively. Side with the Rockets as slight road dogs.

DYNAMIC DUO DEBUT?

The Boston Celtics currently possess the NBA's best record at 11-2 and travel to Los Angeles to take on a Clippers team that many are picking to represent the West in the Finals. Unfortunately for L.A., Kawhi Leonard is once again listed as questionable (knee), as we eagerly await seeing Paul George and Kawhi take the court for the first time together this season.

The Clippers have won eight of nine home games and have been a profitable bet in the process, covering the spread in seven of those nine games. The Clippers have also been money as a favorite, going 8-2 ATS in that situation. If Leonard is good to go, expect a big effort from the Clippers at home and bet them to cover as 5.5-point favorites.

Simmons hits first 3; 76ers drop Knicks

LOS ANGELES (AP) Lou Williams scored 27 points, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George combined for 42 points in their first game together for the Clippers, and Los Angeles rallied to edge the Boston Celtics 107-104 in overtime Wednesday night.

George scored 25 points. Leonard added 17 and blocked Kemba Walker's potential tying 3-point attempt after injury and rehab had prevented them from playing in the same game over the season's first 14 games.

The Clippers improved to 9-1 at home after rallying from a 10-point deficit in the fourth.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 30 points and Marcus Smart and Brad Wanamaker added 14 apiece.

Williams hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 31 seconds remaining in regulation. After a timeout, Tatum hit a 3-pointer with George falling down defending him to tie it 97-all with 13 seconds left.

MAVERICKS 142, WARRIORS 94

DALLAS (AP) - Luka Doncic scored 33 of his 35 points in the first half and had yet another triple-double to help Dallas rout short-handed Golden State.

Doncic fell a point short of matching Dirk Nowitzki's team record set Nov. 3, 2009, against Utah. In just 17 minutes, Doncic was 10 for 11 from the floor, making 6 of 7 3-pointers, and hit 7 of 8 free throws.

The second-year star from Slovenia had 22 points, five assists and five rebounds in the first quarter alone. He played only 25 minutes total, but still managed 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

Doncic was coming off a 40-point triple-double Monday night against San Antonio, and has an NBA-best seven triple-doubles in 14 games this season.

The Mavericks never trailed and tied a franchise record with 22 3-pointers while sending Golden State to its worst loss since a 1973 playoff game.

Tim Hardaway Jr. added 20 for Dallas. Kristaps Porzingis had 14 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth-straight double-double. Eric Paschall led the Warriors with 22 points.

NUGGETS 105, ROCKETS 95

DENVER (AP) - Nikola Jokic had 27 points and 12 rebounds, Denver played smothering defense on James Harden and the Nuggets snapped Houston's eight-game winning streak.

Harden had 27 points, ending his string of eight consecutive games of 36 or more. He was 8 of 16 from the floor as the Rockets were held under 100 points for the first time this season. Denver is 7-0 this season when keeping an opponent below 100.

Russell Westbrook scored 25 points on 8-of-22 shooting for Houston, and Clint Capela had 21 rebounds.

76ERS 109, KNICKS 104

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ben Simmons hit the first 3-pointer of his career and had 18 points and 13 assists to lead Philadelphia past New York.

Mike Scott's fourth 3-pointer with 1:29 left stretched the Sixers' lead to 99-95 and they held on after New York's Marcus Morris hit a pair of 3s in the final 10 seconds. Joel Embiid had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Scott scored 12 points.

Simmons did the improbable when he fired a 24-footer from the corner in front of the 76ers' bench, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Simmons received a lengthy standing ovation for the first 3-pointer after 17 misses (and one more miss in the postseason).

Morris led the Knicks with 22 points.

RAPTORS 113, MAGIC 97

TORONTO (AP) - Fred VanVleet scored 24 points, Pascal Siakam had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Toronto snapped Orlando's winning streak at three.

Orlando lost center Nikola Vucevic and forward Aaron Gordon to right ankle injuries in the second quarter.

Raptors rookie Terence Davis scored a career-high 19 points, Norman Powell had 15 points, and Chris Boucher added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Defending champion Toronto improved to 6-0 at home.

Evan Fournier scored 21 points for Orlando.

HEAT 124, CAVALIERS 100

MIAMI (AP) - Duncan Robinson set Miami records for 3-pointers in a quarter and a half on his way to 29 points and Miami beat Cleveland to remain unbeaten at home.

Playing in front of his college coach - the Cavs' John Beilein, who had Robinson at Michigan - the second-year guard was 9 for 15 from the field, with all those shots coming from behind the arc. Robinson set team marks with seven 3-pointers in the second quarter and eight in the first half.

His flurry helped Miami tie a franchise mark with 75 first-half points.

ATLANTA (AP) - Giannis Antetokounmpo had 33 points and 11 rebounds, Eric Bledsoe scored 28 points and Milwaukee beat Atlanta for its fifth straight victory.

Antetokounmpo, the reigning NBA MVP, has had at least 30 points and 10 rebounds an NBA-best nine times this season. The Bucks have won nine of 10 and improved to an NBA-best 8-2 on the road.

Atlanta rookie De'Andre Hunter had a career-high 27 points. Trae Young added 25.

JAZZ 103, TIMBERWOLVES 95

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Bojan Bogdanovic scored 30 points, Donovan Mitchell added 26 and Utah beat Minnesota to split a home-and-home series.

Bogdanovic and Mitchell each hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Bogdanovic was 6 of 11 from 3-point range, and Mitchell 5 of 10 to help Utah rebound for a home loss to Minnesota on Monday night.

Andrew Wiggins had 22 points for Minnesota after missing three games because of personal reasons and an illness. Karl-Anthony Towns was held to 14 points and struggled with foul trouble most of the night.

WIZARDS 138, SPURS 132

WASHINGTON (AP) - Bradley Beal shot 9 for 9 in a 21-point third quarter and finished with 33 to help Washington hand San Antonio its seventh consecutive loss.

Davis Bertans, acquired by Washington from San Antonio in the offseason, scored 21 points, and so did Ish Smith.

DeMar DeRozan scored 31 points for San Antonio. The Spurs fell to 5-10.

NETS 101, HORNETS 91

NEW YORK (AP) - Jarrett Allen had 22 points and 17 rebounds in Brooklyn's victory over Charlotte.

Taurean Prince and Spencer Dinwiddie added 20 points apiece. Brooklyn was without Kyrie Irving for the third straight game because of a right shoulder injury.

Terry Rozier had 18 points for Charlotte.

CHICAGO (AP) - Lauri Markkanen scored 24 points to bust out of a slump, Wendell Carter Jr. had 12 points and 15 rebounds and Chicago beat Detroit.

Derrick Rose had 18 points and Blake Griffin - in his third game of the season - added 16 for Detroit.

13) In 1941, Franklin Roosevelt and Congress established Thanksgiving as a United States federal holiday to be celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, which makes November 28th the latest it can be, which is when it is this year.

12) For me, college basketball season starts when I watch the Maui Classic, which is always Monday-Wednesday of Thanksgiving week. With college ball starting November 5th this year, it has been a lackluster 16 nights of basketball so far, filled with buy games and not a lot of great matchups.

That changes starting today, with holiday tournaments beginning, and that is a good thing.

11) NFL underdogs are 89-68-6 ATS so far this season.

10) Not sure how they came up with this decision, but Memphis Tigers’ freshman center James Wiseman is suspended for another 11 games; he will be eligible to play on January 12 against South Florida. Memphis is very young but very, very talented.

MILWAUKEE (AP) Giannis Antetokounmpo had his second triple-double of the season and the Milwaukee Bucks beat Carmelo Anthony and the short-handed Portland Trail Blazers 137-129 on Thursday night.

Antetokounmpo had 24 points, 19 rebounds and a career-high 15 assists to lead the Bucks to their sixth straight victory. Antetokounmpo, who also had a triple-double in the season opener, has 16 career triple-doubles. Milwaukee is 14-2 in those games.

Eric Bledsoe added 30 points and six assists in the Bucks' highest-scoring game of the season.

After scoring 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting in 24 minutes in his season debut Tuesday night against the Pelicans, Anthony had 10 points in the first half Thursday. The 10-time All-Star finished with 18 points (6-of-15 shooting) and seven rebounds for the Blazers, who were without Hassan Whiteside (hip), Damian Lillard (back), Zach Collins (shoulder) and Jusuf Nurkic (leg).

CJ McCollum scored 37 points for Portland. Skal Labissiere had 22 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks.

PELICANS 124, SUNS 121

PHOENIX (AP) - Brandon Ingram scored 15 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter and JJ Redick scored 26 points, leading New Orleans to its third straight win.

Jrue Holiday had 23 points and nine assists for the Pelicans, and E'Twaun Moore added a season-high 19 points.

Kelly Oubre Jr. led Phoenix with 25 points in its third consecutive loss. Devin Booker had 19 for the short-handed Suns, who were without starting center Aron Baynes and starting point guard Ricky Rubio.

13) Texans 20, Colts 17— Houston takes over first place in AFC South; they outgained the Colts by 100 yards (396-296). Indy threw ball for only 121 yards, even though Houston’s secondary is banged-up. Colts converted 9-15 3rd down plays, but fall to 6-5.

12) Disappointing but hardly surprising that major league baseball may want to implement a plan to shrink minor league baseball, by as many as 100 teams.

MLB enjoys an exemption from federal antitrust law that has lasted since the Supreme Court’s decision in the 1922 case Federal Baseball Club v. National League; that exemption could be used as leverage by Congress against shrinking the minor leagues.

Minor league baseball is affordable fun in lot of smaller towns around the country, and also provides a decent amount of jobs; would be sad if the greed of major league owners eliminated those jobs, and eliminated fun for lot of people in smaller towns.

11) Speaking of the minor leagues, the Class A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes will be giving away a Cody Bellinger/Mike Trout “double MVP bobblehead” at a 2020 home game this summer; the Quakes are only team both Bellinger/Trout have played for.
