  • Walkers scores 39 points, Celtics beat Nets
    November 27, 2019
    By The Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Anthony Davis capped a 41-point performance in his return to New Orleans by intercepting Jrue Holidayâ??s inbound pass with 5 seconds left and making a pair of game-sealing free throws, and the Los Angeles Lakers extended their winning streak to nine games with a 114-110 victory over the Pelicans on Wednesday night.

A packed-in and energetic crowd booed Davis during introductions and virtually every time he handled the ball, only to see him and new teammate LeBron James take over the fourth quarter.

James had 29 points and 11 assists, scoring 15 points in the final period, when Kyle Kuzma also added nine of his 16 points to help the Lakers erase a 10-point deficit.

Holiday had 29 points and 12 assists, and Brandon Ingram had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Pelicans, who dropped their third straight game.

    CELTICS 121, NETS 110

BOSTON (AP) - Kemba Walker returned from a neck injury to score a season-high 39 points - to the delight of the crowd that came to taunt the person he replaced - and Boston beat Brooklyn on a night the fans seemed more interested in taunting former Celtics guard Kyrie Irving.

Missing one game after leaving the court on a stretcher wearing a neck brace following a head-to-torso collision with Semi Ojeleye, Walker had 13 points in the third quarter, when Boston scored nine straight to turn a one-point deficit into a 91-83 lead. Jaylen Brown added 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Jayson Tatum had 16 points and nine boards to help the Celtic improved to 7-0 at home.

Garrett Temple scored 22 points, and Joe Harris had 21 for Brooklyn, which made a season-high 21 of the 56 3-point shots it attempted. Jarrett Allen had 17 points and 14 rebounds, and Spencer Dinwiddie had 16 points and 11 assists.

Brooklyn led 83-82 with just over 3 minutes left in the third when the Celtics scored the next nine points before Temple made a 3 to close out the third quarter. Boston led 104-101 in the fourth before scoring 17 of the next 24 points - nine of them from Walker,

The crowd might have bought tickets to heckle Irving on his return, but earlier in the week it was reported that he wouldnâ??t play in the game. Irving did not make the trip, but that didnâ??t slow down the fans who came to let him know how they feel.

    ROCKETS 117, HEAT 108

HOUSTON (AP) - James Harden scored 34 points, Russell Westbrook had 27 and Houston beat Miami to end a three-game skid,

Houston led by double digits for most of this one after the Heat used a 46-point first quarter in a 129-100 rout Nov. 3 in the first meeting between the teams this season.

Danuel House added 23 points, and Westbrook had nine rebounds and seven assists. Tyler Herro led Miami with 22 points, and Kelly Olynyk had 19 with leading scorer Jimmy Butler out with an illness.

    76ERS 97, KINGS 91

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Joel Embiid rebounded from the worst game of his career with 33 points and 16 rebounds to lead Philadelphia past Sacramento.

Embiid was scoreless Monday night in a 101-96 loss at Toronto. In 32 minutes against the Raptors, the star big man went 0 for 11 from the field, including 0-for-4 from the arc and missed all three of his free throws.

Against the Kings, he scored the first points of the game with an emphatic dunk 23 seconds in and had some key points late in the game to help Philadelphia improve to 8-0 at home. He finished 10 of 19 from the field and 12 of 14 from the free-throw line.

Philadelphia rookie Matisse Thybulle had a career-high 15 points, all in the second half.

Buddy Hield scored 22 points for the Kings. They were 1-3 on a four-game trip.

    BUCKS 111, HAWKS 102

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Giannis Antetokounmpo had 30 points and 10 rebounds, Khris Middleton scored 16 points in his return from injury and Milwaukee won its ninth straight game.

Middleton, who had been out since Nov. 10 with a thigh contusion, didnâ??t start and played 20 minutes.

Former Bucks forward Jabari Parker scored a season-high 33 points for the Hawks and added 14 rebounds. Trae Young scored 29 points as Atlanta fell to 4-14 with its eighth straight loss.

    CLIPPERS 121, GRIZZLIES 119

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Montrezl Harrell tipped in Lou Williamsâ?? miss with 2.3 seconds left and Los Angeles extended its winning streak to seven games.

Memphis had one more chance to tie or take the lead, but Jaren Jackson Jr.â??s 3-point attempt from the right corner was blocked by Maurice Harkless.

Harrell and Williams led the Clippers with 24 points each, and Paul George added 22. Williams also had 13 assists, and Harrell grabbed 10 rebounds. Playing the second night of a back-to-back on the road, Los Angeles forward Kawhi Leonard took the night off to with â??injury managementâ?? on his left knee.

Jonas Valanciunas had 30 points and 16 rebounds for Memphis, both season highs for the center.

    TRAIL BLAZERS 136, THUNDER 119

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Damian Lillard had 27 points, Carmelo Anthony added 19 in his home debut for Portland.

Hassan Whiteside had 21 points and 16 rebounds, and the Blazers led by as many as 35 points in their return home after an extended 2-4 trip.

Anthonyâ??s dunk early in the fourth quarter gave Portland a 111-79 lead and put the crowd on its feet. When he was subbed out a couple of minutes later, fans chanted â??â??Melo! â??Melo!â??

Abdel Nader had 23 points off the bench for Oklahoma City, and Chris Paul finished with 16 points.

    RAPTORS 126, KNICKS 98

TORONTO (AP) - Pascal Siakam scored 31 points, OG Anunoby had 13 points and a career-high 12 rebounds and Toronto beat New York for its franchise-record eighth straight home victory to begin the season.

Fred VanVleet and Terence Davis each scored 15 points to help the Raptors set an NBA record with their 33rd straight home victory over an Atlantic Division opponent.

Julius Randle scored 19 points and Canadian rookie RJ Barrett had 16 for the Knicks.

    PACERS 121, JAZZ 102

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Domantas Sabonis and T.J. Warren each scored 23 points and Malcolm Brogdon added 22 to help Indiana beat Utah for its fourth straight victory.

    Sabonis also had 12 rebounds.

Bojan Bogdanovic had 30 points in his first trip back to Indiana since leaving the team as a free agent last summer. Donovan Mitchell added 26 points, and Rudy Gobert had 14 points and 13 rebounds after missing the previous two games with a sprained left ankle.

    WIZARDS 140, SUNS 132

PHOENIX (AP) - Bradley Beal scored 35 points, Thomas Bryant added 23 and Washington held on to beat Phoenix.

Washington bounced back from a 13-point loss at Denver a night earlier by shooting 57% from the field and making 19 of 35 3-pointers.

Devin Booker led the Suns with 27 points. Phoenix fell below .500 - at 8-9 - for the first time this season.

    HORNETS 102, PISTONS 101

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Bismack Biyombo scored 19 points, Devonte Graham had 16 points and a career-high 15 assists and Charlotte beat Detroit for the eighth straight time.

Rookie P.J. Washington added 17 points to help the Hornets end a five-game losing streak.

    TIMBERWOLVES 113, SPURS 101

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Andrew Wiggins scored 26 points, Karl-Anthony Towns had 23 points and 14 rebounds and Minnesota snapped an 11-game skid in San Antonio.

The Timberwolves overcame a charge fueled in large part by second-year player Lonnie Walker IV to hand the Spurs their fifth straight home loss. San Antonio has lost two straight and 12 of 14 overall. LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points and DeMar DeRozan added 20 for the Spurs.

    MAGIC 116, CAVALIERS 104

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Eric Paschall scored 25 points and Golden State emphatically closed out a tight game after its failure two days earlier, holding off Chicago for just its second win at new Chase Center.

Alec Burks added 23 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in just the second win in 12 games for Golden State, which squandered a late lead Monday night in losing 100-97 to Oklahoma City while allowing the Thunder to score the gameâ??s final 13 points. The Warriors snapped a three-game losing streak.

Zach LaVine had 36 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Bulls, who now will try to avenge a 117-94 home loss to the Trail Blazers on Monday night when they travel to Portland to play Friday.

        Thursday’s List of 13: Happy Thanksgiving, everyone……

        13) Was going to do a list of things I’m thankful for, but decided that this year, the biggest thing I’m thankful for is that the guy who operated on my detached retina studied a lot in school and became an excellent surgeon. Thank you very much, Dr Mallick!!!!

        12) Kansas 90, Dayton 84 OT— Jayhawks win Maui Classic for third time in an exciting final; Dayton tied the game on a 3-pointer with 0:01.1 left in regulation.

        11) Michigan State 75, UCLA 63— Bruins go to Maui after losing at home to Hofstra and get one win, over D-II Chaminade, so they’ve lost their last three D-I games. UCLA is playing tempo #308; their fans aren’t going to like coach Mick Cronin any more than they liked Ben Howland or Steve Alford or Steve Lavin.

Howland got fired by UCLA after a 3-year stretch where they went 37-17 in Pac-12 games, but only 1-2 in NCAA tournament games. Tough crowd.

        10) Over the last five seasons, 17 different college basketball teams have made the Final Four, from nine different conferences.

Over the last seven NCAA tournaments, at last one team made the Final Four that was a #5 or lower seed in their region.

        9) Padres/Brewers made a 4-player trade Wednesday:
Milwaukee gets: IF Luis Urias, P Eric Lauer
San Diego gets: OF Trent Grisham, P Zach Davies.

        8) Pirates filled the last open manager’s spot by hiring 49-year old Derek Shelton as their new skipper. Shelton was Minnesota’s bench coach the last two years.

        7) Texas Rangers signed P Kyle Gibson to a 3-year deal worth $30M. 32-year old Gibson was 13-7, 4.84 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP LY, with 160 strikeouts in 160 IP. Rangers move into their new domed stadium this coming season.

        6) Ole Miss 74, Penn State 72— Rebels trailed 52-31 wth 16:23 left, by 14 wth 6:30 left- they rally to win their fifth game in six tries. Penn State won their last game by a hoop after trailing by 16 with 9:12 left- they returned the favor here.
        5) The Cleveland Indians’ baseball cap that Charlie Sheen wore in the 1988 movie Major League is on the auction block; the largest bid, with eight days left to go in the auction, is $4,594.

You could get a hat just like it for $40 on the Lids website, but someone bid $4,594 for a 31-year old baseball cap that might not even be your size. Go figure.

        4) Lakers 114, Pelicans 110— Anthony Davis scored 41 points in his return to New Orleans.

        3) Detroit Lions are starting rookie 3rd-string QB David Blough against the Bears today. He wasn’t drafted, but Blough played in 44 games at Purdue, throwing 1,429 passes.

        2) 76ers 97, Kings 91— Embiid scored 33 points, had 16 rebounds, after not scoring in his last game, in Toronto.

        1) Sad to report that the Arena Football League went out of business Wednesday; they had a team here in Albany in the late 90’s, and again the last couple years. Arenaball was great fun; thought it helped develop quarterbacks, because they had to make quick decisions, and really couldn’t run much.

            — Tulane 27.7%

            — Arkansas/VCU 29.2%

            — Kansas State 29.3%

            — Eastern Michigan 31.7%

            **********

Armadillo: Friday's List of 13: Random stuff with weekend here…..

            13) Buffalo 26, Dallas 15:
            — 9-3 Bills might be the most unheralded 9-3 team ever.
            — The next few weeks are going to be a good time for Lincoln Riley’s agent, because it is hard to believe that Jason Garrett will be the Cowboys’ coach next year.

            12) Saints 26, Falcons 18:
            — New Orleans wins NFC South, is first team to qualify for playoffs.
            — Atlanta outgained Saints, 348-280, but turned ball over three times in 2nd half.
            — Falcons recovered two onside kicks; before this week, NFL teams were 3-37 on onside kicks this season.

            11) Chicago 20, Detroit 17:
            — Lions’ first two drives: 13 plays, 153 yards, two TD’s.
            — Lions’ last eight drives: 54 plays, 211 yards, one FG.

            10) Lions are 9-18-1 under 2nd-year coach Matt Patricia, who got hired because he worked for New England- they win a lot. Problem is, Patricia didn’t bring Tom Brady with him to Detroit.

Lions fired Jim Caldwell, who went 36-28 in four years with Detroit, making the playoffs twice in those four years. Still an interesting decision, two years later.

            9) Michigan 73, North Carolina 64— Wolverines went on a 19-0 run early in 2nd half; they made 11-26 on the arc, and are now 6-0 under rookie coach Juwan Howard.

            8) Long Beach State 66, Providence 65— 49ers were a 16.5-point underdog; they were down 17 early in second half. Friars turned ball over 21 times; this is a bad loss for then.

            7) Gonzaga 73, Oregon 72 OT— Zags led 24-7 early, but for second day in row, Oregon stormed back and erased a big lead- they led by 4 in OT, but Gonzaga ended game on a 7-2 spurt and will play Michigan in the Atlantis finals Friday afternoon.

            6) Marquette 73, Davidson 63— Wildcats had made a 3-pointer in 809 consecutive games, but went 0-15 in this game, which ends the streak. Markus Howard scored 40 for Mar quote, which made 27-38 on foul line (Davidson was 15-23).

Rising star in TV business is former Cincinnati/Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy, who is working the Orlando tournament this weekend. Smart, funny and knows when to be quiet.

            5) Harvard 62, Texas A&M 51— Crimson were a perfect 22-22 on foul line, offsetting their 6-29 day on the arc. Harvard moves on to play Maryland Friday.

            4) Virginia’s 2nd-leading scorer Braxton Key is out indefinitely after having wrist surgery this week. Cavaliers are 7-0 after smothering Maine 46-26 Wednesday.

            3) Patriots kicker Nick Folk had an appendectomy, will miss this week’s game in Houston; former Redskins kicker Kai Forbath is expected to be his replacement.

            2) Mississippi State 21, Ole Miss 20— With 0:04 left in the Egg Bowl, Ole Miss WR Elijah Moore caught a 2-yard touchdown pass that cut Mississippi State’s lead to 21-20; the PAT would tie the game.

After he scored, Moore lifted his leg like a dog and pretended to urinate after his score, and got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for excessive celebration, pushing the PAT back 15 yards.

The kicker missed the PAT, Miss State won 21-20 and is now bowl eligible.

            1) Penn 68, Central Florida 67— Kid on UCF thought he hit the game-tying 3 at the buzzer, but he was standing behind the wrong arc, and was standing on the 3-point arc. With so many different 3-point lines, he got confused. Good day for the Ivy League.

                  • Hornets complete home-and-home sweep of Pistons, 110-107
                    November 29, 2019
                    By The Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) Langston Gallowayâ??s shot from near midcourt rimmed out at the buzzer, and the Charlotte Hornets held on for a 110-107 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night.

Charlotte completed a home-and-home sweep of the Pistons this week. Detroit must be wondering what it has to do to beat the Hornets. Charlotte edged the Pistons 109-106 earlier in the month and 102-101 on Wednesday night.

This matchup went down to the wire again. The Hornets rallied from an eight-point deficit in the final quarter and led by three with 8.9 seconds left. Detroit inbounded the ball, and Luke Kennard missed a 3-pointer from near the top of the key. Galloway was able to run down the loose ball, and his last-ditch shot looked on line, but it wouldnâ??t go in.

P.J. Washington scored 26 points for Charlotte, and Terry Rozier added 23. The Hornets were without center Cody Zeller because of a left hip injury.

Derrick Rose led the Pistons with 23 points.

                    SPURS 107, CLIPPERS 97

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - LaMarcus Aldridge and Derrick White each had 17 points, and San Antonio beat Kawhi Leonard and Los Angeles.

The Spurs stopped the Clippersâ?? seven-game win streak in Leonardâ??s second appearance in San Antonio as an opponent. Leonard finished with 19 points on 8-for-23 shooting.

San Antonio had lost two straight and 12 of 14, but found its footing against Los Angeles.

Leonard spent his first seven seasons in San Antonio before demanding a trade. He was shipped off to Toronto and won his second NBA Finals MVP last season before joining the Clippers as a free agent.

Leonardâ??s initial return to San Antonio on Jan. 24 resulted in thunderous boos and a 125-107 loss for the Raptors.

                    BUCKS 119, CAVALIERS 110

CLEVELAND (AP) - Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 11 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter and Milwaukee held off Cleveland for its 10th straight victory.

Antetokounmpo grabbed 12 rebounds and has had double-doubles in every game this season for Milwaukee, at 16-3 the top team in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks hadn't won 10 in a row since the 1985-86 season.

Hill scored 18 points, and Middleton, playing for the second time since missing seven games with a bruised left thigh, had 12.

Cleveland has dropped nine of 10. Rookie Darius Garland scored 21 points, including five 3-pointers, and Cedi Osman had 20. Tristan Thompson had 11 points and 13 rebounds, including the 5,000th of his career in the first half.

Love, who is playing despite dealing with a sore back, had 16 points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes.

                    RAPTORS 90, MAGIC 83

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Norman Powell scored a career-best 33 points as Toronto won its sixth straight game, beating Orlando.

Powell was 7-for-9 shooting in the third quarter, including three 3-pointers.

Fred Van Fleet added 22 points for the Raptors, who won despite Pascal Siakam's 4-for-22 shooting. Siakam finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Evan Fournier scored 19 points for Orlando, which has lost four of five. Markelle Fultz added 15 points. Aaron Gordon, who played 32 minutes for Orlando after missing three games with a right ankle contusion, had eight points and eight rebounds.

                    NETS 112, CELTICS 107

NEW YORK (AP) - Spencer Dinwiddie had 32 points and 11 assists while Kyrie Irving was again unable to face his former team, and Brooklyn beat Boston to split a home-and-home series.

Irving missed his eighth straight game with a right shoulder injury but was at the arena to get an evaluation and watch from the bench along with Kevin Durant as Dinwiddie kept up his strong play in his place. The Eastern Conference player of the week last week matched his highest assist total of the season and was two shy of his best scoring performance of the season.

Jarrett Allen added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Nets, who bounced back from their 121-110 loss in Boston on Wednesday night to win for the fifth time in six games.

Jayson Tatum had 26 points and nine rebounds for the Celtics.

                    HEAT 122, WARRIORS 105

MIAMI (AP) - Goran Dragic scored 20 points, Tyler Herro added 19 and Miami remained perfect at home this season.

Duncan Robinson scored 17 for Miami, which is 8-0 at home for the second time in franchise history - tying the mark set by the 2012-13 Heat. Robinson and Herro were a combined 10 for 13 from 3-point range.

Jimmy Butler scored 16, while Kendrick Nunn and Kelly Olynyk each had 15 for the Heat.

Jordan Poole scored 20 for injury-ravaged Golden State, which was playing the opener of a five-game road trip. Eric Paschall scored 17 and Alec Burks finished with 16 for the Warriors.

The Warriors are one of four teams without back-to-back wins this season, joining Chicago, Detroit and New York.

                    76ERS 101, KNICKS 95

NEW YORK (AP) - Joel Embiid had 27 points and 17 rebounds, James Ennis III scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half, and Philadelphia overcame a sluggish start and beat New York.

Tobias Harris scored 19, and Ben Simmons chipped in 16 points, including a game-sealing steal and dunk late in the fourth quarter for the 76ers, who have won two straight and six of seven.

Julius Randle had 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Marcus Morris Sr. scored 20 points for the Knicks, who have lost a season-high five straight.

The 76ers were playing without starters Al Horford (rest) and Josh Richardson (right hamstring injury) and it showed in the first half as their offense struggled. Philadelphia shot 13 for 38 from the field, including 2 for 18 behind the 3-point line.

                    JAZZ 103, GRIZZLIES 94

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Bojan Bogdanovic scored 16 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter, helping Utah pull away from Memphis.

Bogdanovic matched his season-high scoring mark, going 12 of 20 from the field, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range as Utah snapped a two-game losing streak. Donovan Mitchell added 20 points, and Rudy Gobert had 13 points, 13 rebounds and a pair of blocks.

Jonas Valanciunas led Memphis with 22 points and 17 rebounds, and Brandon Clarke scored 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting. The Grizzlies have lost six straight.

                    PACERS 105, HAWKS 104, OT

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Jeremy Lamb scored 20 points, T.J. Warren hit a go-ahead 3-pointer and Indiana outlasted Trae Young and Atlanta in overtime.

Young matched his career high with 49 points in the Hawksâ?? ninth straight loss. He was 16 of 28 from the field, hitting 8 of 15 from 3-point range.

Lamb got the Pacers started in overtime with a 20-foot jumper and he fed Myles Turner for a 3-pointer. Warren made his only 3-pointer of the game with 1:12 remaining to push the Pacers to their fifth consecutive victory.

Turner and Domantas Sabonis each scored 17 points, and Warren and Malcomb Brogdon had 16 apiece.

DeAndreâ?? Bembry and Alex Len added 15 points each for Atlanta.

                    THUNDER 109, PELICANS 104

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Dennis Schroder scored 25 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, and had seven assists to help Oklahoma City beat New Orleans.

Abdel Nader scored 19 points and Danilo Gallinari had 17 for Oklahoma City (7-11), which had been 1-4 in its previous five games. Steven Adams added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Thunder, including the final four points in the last minute.

Brandon Ingram scored 26 points and had eight rebounds to lead New Orleans (6-13), which lost its fourth straight. J.J. Redick added 16 points for the Pelicans but missed two 3-point attempts in the final 10 seconds. New Orleans had seven players score in double digits.

                    MAVERICKS 120, SUNS 113

PHOENIX (AP) - Luka Doncic tied a career high with 42 points, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 26 and Dallas beat Phoenix.

Doncic just missed a triple-double with 11 assists and nine rebounds. Hardaway shot 6 of 9 from 3-point range to help offset a quiet night from Kristaps Porzingis, who finished with two points.

The teams entered the final quarter tied at 89. The Mavericks went on an 8-0 run midway through the fourth to take a 104-97 lead and never trailed again.

Phoenix has lost six of its last seven games. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the Suns with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Ricky Rubio added 21 points and nine assists.

                    LAKERS 125, WIZARDS 103

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Anthony Davis had 26 points and 13 rebounds, and LeBron James had 23 points and 11 assists before both superstars took the fourth quarter off in Los Angelesâ?? 10th consecutive victory.

Quinn Cook scored 17 points and JaVale McGee had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the steamrolling Lakers, who have won 17 of 18 to soar to the top of the overall NBA standings. Los Angeles went 14-1 in November, posting the most victories in a month for this 16-time champion franchise since March 2000.

The up-tempo Wizards have been one of the NBAâ??s worst defensive teams this season, and the Lakersâ?? dynamic offense was far too much for them.

Bradley Beal had 18 points and nine assists for the Wizards, who have lost three of four. Washington got off to a solid start and had several good stretches against the Lakers, but committed 19 turnovers and lost for the second time in three stops on a four-game West Coast road trip.

                    TRAIL BLAZERS 107, BULLS 103

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Carmelo Anthony had 23 points and 11 rebounds and Portland downed Chicago for its second victory over the Bulls this week.

Zach LaVine finished with 28 for the slumping Bulls, who have lost seven of their last nine games.

                      • Armadillo: Saturday's six-pack

College hoop teams with the most experience:

                        6) Hofstra, CAA

                        5) Seattle, WAC

                        4) South Carolina State, MEAC

                        3) Central Michigan, MAC

                        2) Iona, MAAC

                        1) South Alabama, Sun Belt

Armadillo: Saturday's List of 13: Wrapping up a busy Friday…..

                        13) Virginia 39, Virginia Tech 30— Cavaliers go to ACC championship game for first time, while ending a 15-game losing streak to their in-state rivals.

                        12) Michigan 82, Gonzaga 64— Wolverines win the Battle of Atlantis, as Juwan Howard begins his head coaching career by winning his first seven games. Thursday’s OT win over Oregon probably took a lot out of the Zags.

                        11) Marquette 101, USC 79— Markus Howard scored 51 points, his teammates scored 50 as the whole team advances to play Maryland in the finals of the Orlando tournament Sunday. This game was 57-36 at the half; Trojans beat Fairfield 57-48 the day before.

                        10) Penn State 85, Syracuse 64— ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla basically said without saying the exact words that this is the least talented Syracuse team in decades. Orange are 4-3, with all three losses by 14+ points- their best win is over Colgate.

                        9) Wake Forest 88, Long Beach State 75— Danny Manning’s Deacons move on to the finals of the Wooden Legacy, will play Arizona in the final Sunday.

Early in this game, kid on Long Beach hits a 3-pointer in front of the Wake Forest bench, and gets a technical for woofing at someone on the bench. Long Beach takes the kid out; the head coach snaps at him a little, then the assistant coach goes over and smooths things over, getting him ready to go back in the game.

                        8) San Diego State 83, Iowa 73— Aztecs trailed by 17 at one point, improve to 8-0, winning tournament at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

                        7) Through Week 12, NFL teams with most plays of 20+ yards:
Cowboys 58 (before the Buffalo game), Lions 57

Through Week 12, NFL teams with least plays of 20+ yards:
Dolphins 27, Redskins 29, Bears 31 (before Thursday)

                        6) Through Week 12, NFL teams that allowed most plays of 20+ yards:
                        Bengals 69, Raiders 66, Arizona/Miami 58

Through Week 12, NFL teams that allowed fewest plays of 20+ yards:
                        Patriots/Rams/49ers, all 29

                        5) Iowa 27, Nebraska 24— Hawkeyes kicked a FG with 0:01 left to end Nebraska’s season at 5-7; this is third year in row that Cornhuskers won’t go bowling.

                        4) West Virginia 20, TCU 17— Horned Frogs lose as a 13-point home favorite and don’t become bowl eligible. Sad way to end the season.

                        3) Patriots kicker Nick Folk had an appendectomy, was going miss this week’s game in Houston and then come back, but New England cut him Friday; former Redskins kicker Kai Forbath will be his replacement.

Moral of the story: Don’t have an appendectomy during the season.

                        2) Philadelphia Eagles signed OT Lane Johnson to a 4-year contract extension worth $72M, with $54.595M of that guaranteed.

                        1) Reds’ pitcher Trevor Bauer’s $300,000 McLaren sports car was totaled while it was being stored at a Houston McLaren dealership. On Tuesday, a tire fell off of a semi truck, rolled across six lanes of traffic on a Houston highway, struck a wall, and crashed thru a double-paned glass window at the dealership and wrecked Bauer’s car.

Thats an expensive day; luckily, no one was injured.

                                November 30, 2019
                                By The Associated Press

HOUSTON (AP) James Harden scored a season-high 60 points in 31 minutes and the Houston Rockets sent the struggling Atlanta Hawks to their 10th straight loss with a 158-111 romp on Saturday night.

Harden came one point shy of matching his career high and franchise record on a night he made eight 3-pointers and 20 free throws. He watched the entire fourth quarter from the bench with Houston up 127-73 at the end of three.

It was his fourth career 60-point game, tying him with Michael Jordan for third-most in NBA history, trailing only Kobe Bryant (six) and Wilt Chamberlain (32). Harden is the only active player who has scored 60 points more than once.

Trae Young led the Hawks with 37 points and had five 3-pointers, but it wasn't nearly enough to offset Harden's game.

The Rockets raced out to a 14-5 lead and had stretched their advantage to 81-52 by halftime behind 31 points from Harden for their third 80-point first half in franchise history.

                                BUCKS 137, HORNETS 96

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 26 points but his double-double streak ended at 19 games when he grabbed nine rebounds while playing only 20 minutes as Milwaukee coasted over Charlotte.

Milwaukee (17-3) won its 11th straight game and matched its highest point total of the season. The Bucks held a 17-point halftime lead and extended it to 101-75 entering the fourth quarter, allowing the reigning MVP to sit out the final period.

Antetokounpo's streak of double-doubles to open a season left him short of Bill Walton's record of 34 with the Portland Trail Blazers in 1976-77. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also had 29 for the Los Angeles Lakers in 1975-76.

The Bucks put nine players in double figures and finished November with a franchise-best 15-1 record, losing only on a buzzer-beating shot in Utah on Nov. 8. Milwaukee has the league's second-best record, behind the Los Angeles Lakers (17-2).

Devonte' Graham led the Hornets (8-13) with 24 points and Terry Rozier added 19.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Joel Embiid had 32 points and 11 rebounds and Ben Simmons had three steals in the final 13.9 seconds to lead Philadelphia over Indiana.

Simmons finished with 15 points, 13 assists, six rebounds and four steals. Tobias Harris scored 22 points for Philadelphia, which won its third straight while improving to 9-0 at home.

T.J. Warren had 29 points and Malcolm Brogdon added 28 for the Pacers, who had won five straight. Indiana opened a grueling five-game, seven-day road trip.

                                KINGS 100, NUGGETS 97, OT

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Harrison Barnes scored six of his season-high 30 points in overtime, Buddy Hield hit two free throws with 9.5 seconds left and Sacramento rallied to beat Denver.

Sacramento trailed by 17 at halftime and didn't lead until Barnes made a jumper early in overtime. Gary Harris' 3-pointer put the Nuggets up 95-94, but Barnes answered with two free throws and scored on a short lean-in shot.

Harris made two free throws before Hield answered with two of his own to help Sacramento end a six-game losing streak against Denver.

The Nuggets failed to get off a shot in the final 15 seconds.

Nemanja Bjelica had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Kings. Richaun Holmes added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Hield had 21 points despite an off-night shooting.

Harris scored 18 of his 25 points in the first quarter. Will Barton added 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Jamal Murray scored 15 points.
