This is another topic anyway
My point is if they act like smoking is that bad ( again -- we know it is ) why do they continue to allow ciggarettes to be sold ?Last edited by GOLDENGREEK; 07-17-2008, 07:41 PM.

Yup -- someone who comes from say... Kenya , or Lithuania , etc. that comes to the states with zero in his pockets and works his ass off for minimum wage , finds a way to educate himself in school, and becomes a succesful and respectful person should be showered with more addulation that Josh Hamilton IMHO
Shit -- even people born here that grew up in poverty or in the gehttos with parents that werent around or addicts that had to dodge bullets to get to school, resist the tempation of joining gangs and doing drugs and become succesful respectable humans should recieve more praise that a junkie "turning his life around"
The problem is I guess with television and newspapers that would rather glorify the Hamiltons rather that report on these faceless peopleLast edited by GOLDENGREEK; 07-17-2008, 07:49 PM.

Most if not all bartenders are smokers
Also as a business owner you can give the option to people if they want to work in the bar where there are smokers -- Im sure there will be no problems filling the positions
Many studies have proven that smokers spend more money and leave bigger tips that non - smokers

He might be a strong dude - and I am happy for him that he overcame his personal demons. But he is not a hero. I don't want him forced on me as a hero. And I DEFINITELY don't want my kids looking at the guy as a hero. I can't even turn on sports center for the last 3 days without hearing about what an inspiration he is. He is not someone that I want my kids exposed to let alone idolizing! Nice story and congrats to him for turning his life around. But that should be the end of it.
Like I have said before I can see why he tried it, I can understand the thoughts of a #1 draft pick thinking they are invincible, and I applaud the guy for being strong enough to fix his problem for the time being. But he is no hero. He is not even a guy I want my 5 year old son to look up to.

It would be nice if you tried to look at it from Chad's point of view.
Funny thing is - I agree with you that crack and alcohol is different. But if you can't see the similarities about trying something for the first time (or people thinking "nothing bad will happen to me") - whether it is crack or drunk driving, then you are just a being stubborn and ignorant. Which is a fine - but not a very enlightened way to go through life.
The bias of your dislike towards me seeps in your responses of always trying to one up me or anyone else you have ever had a debate on this forum for Wayne...you HAVE to be right when you get going....never will admit that you could possibly be wrong or agree to disagree its the truth and everyone knows it....SOBER SINCE MARCH 28TH OF 2007!!!

It's like saying if Chad had to start his life all over again, he would grab a crack pipe in a second, cause it will be good for his life.
