The government allows you to drive under a certain amount of alcohol. Do they or do they not? There is a fine line there for many when they have to head to their car. There is no fine line with crack. If you are caught with any of it in your car while driving or in your system, you are arrested. What is wrong or ignorant about that?
Government also chooses what to make illegal and legal -- it all goes back to $$$ and who is stuffing politicians pockets
Alcohol can easilly be just as addicting as other drugs and its actually worse because it is readilly available
We have a smoking ban now in Chicago -- I feel like a leper
I have to go outside in the streets and alleys to smoke -- WHY ???
If smoking is so bad (I KNOW THAT IT IS !! ) why do they still sell cigarettes ??
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
pretty soon they are going to tell us who and when we can fuck in our own house

The difference between a drunk driver and Josh Hamilton is the drunk driver puts everyone else in harms way, he's a moving weapon. While Hamilton self destructed only himself.

I believe the above post should show you what I mean by the alcohol argument.
Whether it is legal or not. Whether it is a fine line or not. Is not my point. My point is we all make decisions in life that can affect ourselves and others negatively. We do this in full knowledge that it can hurt others as well as ourselves. Some of us do it with crack, some with alcohol, some with gambling. Whether we blow .08 or .25 isn't my point. Although I do understand your argument.

I agree that Hamilton shouldnt be praised - he did something wrong and was one of the lucky few to recover from it and get his life back
He should be pointed out as a warning of what not to do , not as a hero for overcoming what he originally did
Its a little diffrent if you grow up missing a parent / are abused by parents / grow up super poor / are on the streets at a young age ..etc. Hamilton had a future along with a 4 million dollar signing bonus -- he chose to fuck up his life
And do you really think he kicked his addiction because he was one of the lucky few? He may have been one of the lucky few blessed with the physical talents to play the kind of baseball he plays but luck had nothing to do with his recovery.
You say he should be pointed out as a warning of what not to do....THATS EXACTLY WHAT HE'S SAYING HIMSELF!!! hes not asking other people to look at him as a hero, he's ashamed of his tattoos because they represent that time of his life.

in addition some people have higher and lower tolerance to alcohol
Some people may drink 2 -3 beers and be under the legal limit and have no business driving
Others can drink 6-7 beers / have a higher tolerance level be over the legal limit and be perfectly OK to driveLast edited by GOLDENGREEK; 07-17-2008, 06:12 PM.

I think 1/2 the problem with some of the people jumping into this thread is they have not read it from post 1.

Originally posted by DDP713exactly, alcohol IS just as dangerous the facts continue to show that. just like chicago banning cigarette smoking in public, it sucks for the smokers but why should other people suffer while the addicted continue enjoying their drug.
You guys will never get it. Nobody questions the addictions. This must be the 10th time i have said that!

Seriously, will you read the thread before responding to the wrong person for a 2nd time. Those posts are meant for me, not Kaptain and you are looking foolish.
