Navy made a bowl game last year remember...it's not like they were not a decent team.

We're playing Oklahoma in a few years....We had UCLA scheduled for a home and home....

That argument won't hold with me in the least bit.
Yes I brought it up because thats where your wins come from. You dont beat USC so why bring it up. If you are refering to the cupcakes LSU plays thats fine. When it comes to the BIG games LSU shows up. Every college schedules a few cupcakes. Its the big games that seperate the good teams from the great teams.

Please don't forget the USC's and the Michigan's every single year. They are essentially a conference game. Same with Purdue and Michigan State.

In other words...and this is for you Nex...that's like LSU playing Ole Miss and Vandy every year.

      It's the same thing.
I agree it is the same thing. And what did LSU do in the big Bowl Game that defined it's season, and what did ND do?

97 we beat georgia tech, pitt, lsu, and west virginia
98 we beat lsu again and michigan
            99 we beat usc, oklahoma
00 we beat usc texas a&m, west virginia
01 we beat usc, pitt, west virginia
02 we beat michigan, florida state, maryland
            03 we didn't beat squat
            04 we beat michigan, tennessee
05 we beat michigan, pitt and tennesee
06 we beat georgia tech and ucla

Those aren't cupcakes. We had our share of losses some of them too.

I think we're a very good program. It may not show it this year due to transition, but I think overall, it's a very good program that has lofty expectations that I love.

              I respectfully disagree again.

How is any bowl game with the exception of the BCS championship game defining your season?

I don't see it that way.

It didn't HELP our season, but it didn't define it.

The only exception I can make to that...and sorry KB...but Boise State's win...that definedt they're season.

Honestly, I think the loss to Florida defined LSU's season. The win vs Notre Dame just took the sting out of it.

It defined the 2006 season for a few reasons, the most important was that you lost the only 2 other signature games on your schedule (Michigan and USC). As simple as that. Did you win some games against decent competition in GT, Penn St and UCLA, yes, but these are not Signature games. You lost to every quality opponent you faced. You had a chance to go into a bowl against a major opponent from a major conference and say that you still belonged in the upper tier football programs regardless of major losses to other quality opponents. You didn't get it done. It defined your season. You were just another top 40 football program after that.

Ok...well I'll be just another top 40 football program with a top 10 recruting class in 2007 and as of right now have the #1 recruting class in 2008 (from Rivals.com)

I guess I'll have to settle for that.

Read what I wrote...we also lost our share of those games vs top programs....those include the bowl games.

My point was pointing out the "defining" wins....there are many people here that are more then willing to point out the losses.
