  • Important News From Chado....

Alright guys. I have been thinking a lot over the past few days about me being sober for 3 months now and where I stand in my recovery. What I have came to realize that it is not so much that I have replaced my addiction with gambling but its the fact that I have been spending way too much time capping and watching games instead of focusing on what I want to do with my life and where to head with my future. Also the fact that I have lost over $1000 dollars over the past week hasnt helped matters either. I was telling my father the other day that the thing that makes me feel so responsible and mature right now with me being sober is knowing that if my mother (who lives in a different city) could watch my every move on camera throughout my average day she would be very proud of everything I am doing. That statement is true for the most part as I go to work, workout at the gym after work, go to an NA meeting every other night and then go home and go to bed. The thing that made me second look this comment was the fact that she would be very disappointed that I am spending a large portion of my time capping and betting on sports in between these things as I had told her that I had stopped gambling when I quit getting drunk and high. Anyway, basically what I am trying to say here is that if I want to acheive everything I want with my life and future, I need to shift all my energy, effort, and initiative into the task at hand and spend time engaging in positive hobbies, time with friends and family and my career. With that being said, I will be around every once and a while to hang out and see how everyone is doing because you guys are an amazing group of people and I have enjoyed meeting every single one of you. I will POST my NHL picks starting in October of this year for others to bet if they choose as that is what I major in. I am not leaving here, just gonna try to quit the wagers as I dont need the emotional stress anymore. The way I look at is that I can sit here and grind out a whole season of spending endless hours capping and watching games and at the end of the season be up maybe 10-20 units but with all the TIME and EFFORT spent it does not seem WORTH MY WHILE anymore (this is just for me so dont get me wrong guys). I wish everyone well and dont think I wont be around here cause I still will but just not as much and but not wagering, just gonna post NHL picks throughout the NHL season for others. I wish all of you the best in your lives and I will talk to you all soon!!!

You will be missed buddy. Gambling can be very stressful, especially if you are not winning on a consistent basis. Hopefully you didn't follow any of my losers this past season (I wish I could win every game).

Do what you need to do in order to take care of yourself.

Best of luck and reach out if you ever need anything.

Great to hear ! This is exactly what I was trying to explain in my coment the other day. You get to get healthy first and spend more time with family and friends before getting back in gambling.
I have had my family members and friends ruin their lives because the didn't get completely better before taking on another type of addiction. Shit, my dad's sister still goes to AA after nearly 50 years, because she still to this day needs the support it brings in her life. She meet her husband (a truley great person) at an AA meeting 40 years ago.

I wish you nothing by the best on your long journey that awaits you.

Chuck what you had said in your comment was that I had replaced my old addiction with gambling. That was and is not the case at all. The reason why I want to stop is because I want to be EVERYTHING TO MY POTENTIAL. And in order for me to do that I need to do EVERYTHING on a day to day basis that allows me to reach all my goals and what I want with my life and future. If I spend 2-4 hours a day capping and watching games I could be doing productive things with that time instead like learning or figuring out exactly what I want to do with myself in the road ahead. I did not substitute gambling for my other addiction Chuck I just want to ensure that I put ALL MY TIME into positive things now that I have things going where I want them.

            Great post. Good Luck!

My 2 cents? And, this is only because I've tried quiting before, so I speak from experience.....coming here and "popping in" or just "visiting" is hard. You come in during baseball season, and see WAYNE with a "grandslam" play, or Kapt with a 5* play, or you come in during football and see Shorty with a 10*, or GoldenGreek with a big hoops play, and it is really hard not to play it....and then, boom...you're back. Just my input. If you really need to quit, taking a break from here isn't a bad idea.

Thanks for the input here gookis. What I have to say in regards to that comment is that booze is everywhere, my drug of choice (coke) is everywhere and if I wanted it all I would have to do is reach out and get it but i THINK first and I have a clear mind now and I think about consequences before my actions so while popping in and seeing someone with a big play or whatever will not tempt be to make a bet because I am STRONG now and know that life with everything positive in it is the happiest and best way to go (FOR ME) but you make a good point. I just know I will be able to handle being on here without betting. Seaofred does it, so does TwoTonTony, and JC aswell, they think ahead and realize they are content with what they are doing and living right now. I will work and focuse on my career and make money how most people in society do...shouldnt be a problem....that is just me......thanks!

Just kidding, buddy. Good luck with everything. It sounds like a good idea.

A fucking men brother. I'm only 22 right around you and there are a lot more important things than betting on things that are out of your control. Watch how clear you feel after a week away from the stress of forcing yourself to pick winners. GL

Funny thing about this post is that the reason why it took me two years to post on this sight is that getting too involved in anything(gambling, TV, Video games) can be self destructive. You can miss out on things that matter most. Summer, friends and family. Chad I have always enjoyed reading your post and I was excited about corresponding with you. But you need to keep the main thing the main thing. It is very had to keep your priorities straight and that shows how mature you are to check yourself... So for that I understand and I will learn from the example that you are setting. Good Luck and thanks.... Your Buddy
