I CAN'T GO INTO DETAILS BECAUSE MY GIRLFRIEND ASKED ME POLITELY NOT TOO // her only demon is alcohol,she has close to 80 days now with treatment,she is an absolute pleasure to be around sober,but like frank's girlfriend part of her addiction was using to blot out memories of people who had abused her in the past // i myself had a serious drug problem in the 70's and 80's,i put the needle down for good in 1986 // i thank god often that i didn't catch any std's or hep-c // hang in there my friend and like several people have said it's an ongoing battle-people like us are never cured !!

ps-for anybody curious as to what my drug of choice was=heroin and#4 D'S WHEN I COULDN'T FIND THE WHITE HORSE,they did not have oxy's back then...

2nd ps-chado i did a lot of meetings for about 8 years but luckily never had to go into detox,wish i had though,did it on my own and it was brutal but i was in my twenties then...

In your twenties like me huh...everytime I get those thoughts like I am young and arent that bad this will be an inspiration to me aswell...thanks chunger!

PS - figured it was heroin...yea oxy-contons are everywhere now adays....the mix it with coke now....its a fuckin brutal physical withdrawl from what I have heard....cocaine/crack is all mental not so much physical which is WORSE imo....

chado-i can only tell you what worked for me,but i went to a lot of meetings early on,my sponser introduced me to some people who were going thru the same thing i was that i could relate to,maybe they did not have the same addiction,but they were sincere in fighting their problem,,that was the biggest thing for me were finding some other people who were also trying to get sober to hang out with-we did everything together,drove to meetings sometimes 3 or 4 a day,went to the big AA conventions,had super bowl parties for sober people only-i can honestly say for myself-if i had not been lucky enough to find a group of sober people i enjoyed spending time with-i don't think i could have gotten sober...i had to find a replacement for all that time i spent with my stoner pals-and i totally cut them off,although i would say hello if i happened to bump into them in public...

Dude...charmed AND sheltered! I never SAW cocaine until I was 29. Never smoked a cigarette, much leass try drugs. I was very fortunate growing up and I just wish I had realized it at a much earlier age so I could have thanked my parents they way I should have!

Yup....happens everyday...a few guys that were in my treatment centre that live near me have just fallen off the wagon this week...THIS SHIT IS FUCKIN LIFE OR DEATH....that is why it is so relative and imperative to NOT let your guard down...it hurts when people fall off but the best thing you can wish for them is that they pick themselves back up and dont fuck up again....

have not been the last 15,but put about 5 years together one time,thats why i said you do not have to fight it like i do,but i have stayed clear of the needle for 20 and coke over 5 and those two are my favs but i am not justifying anything i do-i live in addiction...ps-for the record i drink occasionally now,thats all,no matter what i say on here clowning,not proud of it but you asked and all i can give you is an honest answer...

Its ok man....I hear about people relapsing all the time and in the beginning it would be a huge let down but now I just realize and recognize it as "as long as I dont". so if you have used recently it wont have any affect on me cause I know what I need to do and thats all that matters regardless of what people around me are doing....

i could do a lot better-we all have to live with our own decisions-the only thing that really gives me bad addiction problems now is women and if marvin holds out guess i will go to the grave with that one brother...
