Where are they better??? not at wideout.....what about at Rb?

those are 2 large pieces to the puzzle.....

REggie Brown, Jabar Gaffney, Pinkston are better James Thrash, Pinkston, Freddie Mitchell.

The Eagles do not Run the ball. Westbrook is good enough for the way the Eagles use there RB"S.

There D-Line is much better. They added a pro bowler opposite of Jevon Kearse, in Darren Howard. Plus with Trent cole coming off a 6 sack rookie season he adds good depth for when they push Howard into DT on passing situations.

I'm not saying they are going 12-4 or anything but the way the schedule sets up, I can't see them not winning at least 10 games.

Why wouldn't Philly be good this year?

2 years ago Carolina was really banged up and missed the playoffs but went to the NFC championship game the next year.

Last year Philly was the very banged up team and they could easily be this year's Carolina.

TWo Ton, NO team has won a super Bowl when they lose there Starting QB(McNabb), RB(Westbrook), WR(Owens,Pinkston) OT(Tra Thomas)OG (Artis Hicks), DE(McDougle)CB(Shepard) not to mention the numerous amoun of back-ups that were hurt. They had 17 guys on the IR. Winning teams do not forget how to win. The Eagles will be healthy this year and compete for a spot in the Super Bowl.

i realize all of that.....I also realize it is a new league of parity....and things do not always return to how they once were....the rest of the league got better too.....I just do not see how you can count on those wide receivers......Who is the guy you are counting on going across the middle??? I see the eagles contending with about 8-10 wins......I think they had an excellent draft but you can only count on a few of those to make a meaningful contribution.....But then again these are just our opinions and this is why they play the games!!!

They didnt have any WRs when they made the NFC championship game 3 years in a row.

They didnt have any WRs when they went thru the NFC playoffs to the Super Bowl 2 years ago.


As a person who follows the NFC East I'll just say that I am a LOT more worried about Philly than Dallas.

i follow the NFC east and i think all 3 teams have to be worried about......dallas, NY and Philly...

At no time have they been thinner at wideout....2 years ago they made a mini-playoff run without TO.....but i do not think they would have been able to get there without him.....It is one thing to play a small portion of the season without a key weapon..(generally role players rise to the occasion for the short term)....I just think that when your primary wideout is coming off an achilles injury then it could spell offensive trouble....I am not the only one saying this....Many of the ESPN football people have echoed this......

Do they have a chance...Absolutely......I just think it is not as easy as just picking up where they left off 2 years ago...If everybody remembers the NFC East was one of the worst divisions until recently...The Giants had a new coach and rookie QB and Warner...Cowboys were in mediocre mode and had qb problems and the skins were in their overpaying mode and no qb...So yeah Philly won, but they had a walk-through division.....Each team has gotten much better and the division is back to being real tough......Thats why i do not think it will be as easy as forgetting about last year and lets pick up....That sounds fine on paper, but it does not work that way

I dont even like the Eagles. In fact, I strongly dislike the Eagles.

I just think it's ridiculous how people think T.O. is going to have the same impact in Dallas he had in Philly and lead them to the Super Bowl. People tend to forget that Philly was already one of the best teams in the NFL before they even got Owens, whereas Dallas missed the playoffs 2 years in a row.

I've never said anything negative about the Giants. I know they will be good.

One could argue that the Redskins had a better season last year tho, with a better conference record, a better division record, and advancing further in the postseason (all despite playing just 8 home games!!) and they added some nice players as well (Lloyd, Randle-El, Carter) while also making the bonehead move of adding Archuletta. If you want to say that they overpaid for any or all of those players I certainly won't argue with you but apparently Dan Snyder has everything under control capwise so I'm not too worried about it. They also made a huge addition getting Al Saunders to take over as offensive coordinator. They should be better too.

I just don't see why everyone is infatuated with the Cowboys. T.O. is not only just one man, he is one of the least reliable men in sports.

It's funny how in philly it's always the same story....up until the NHL lockout it was goaltending with the flyers...and it had been goaltending for years! now with the eagles, it's WR. I really don't care about pinkston and if he returns or not, I really hope that brown improves upon what he showed last season. Gaffney I'm not sure how i feel about. But you also have to remember that westbrook is a fantastic reciever out of the backfield and LJ is one of the top 5 TE's in the league. Def not up there with gonzo or gates but he's up there.

i think we can all agree that it is going to be a dogfight......NFL seasons have a way of taking a life of their own and are never predicable.....Who would have thought the Giants would have won the division??? Everybody had the Lions as a Sleeper (a la Arizona this year)......


STaylor.....I firmly agree that TO is not the end -all be all, but he is good.....
I also agree with your assessment of the Skins...They seemed to gather serious momentum at the end of last year......When referring to the overspending i was referring to 2-3 years ago.....But i think you would agree when Snyder got there he was paying top dollar and not getting a great ROI.....

It should be a fun season
