Chuck, with all due respect, I do think you are missing the point of "some" of the posts about officiating in the Super Bowl. I didn't have a penny on the game yesterday, but was outraged at the horrible officiating from start to finish. Not just one call. And the more this travesty is talked about and reported, I think the more pressure will be put on the NFL to do something about the poor officiating. I don't have the answers ( other then to let the plays go until the ball stops moving and then sort it out), but most would agree something must be done. I certainly don't agree with the threads about the losing money part, but as a fan of the sport, I want to see an unbiased game where the players decide it; not the refs. GL to you!!:christmas
It's called the "Human Element" of sports. It was always there and always will be. If you are a fan of sports and gambling, it's the most obvious side effect to it. All that matters is what the paper reads the next day and whether or not your wager was on the right or wrong side at the cashiers window after the game.

Fans don't get a red flag and last time i checked, bitching about EVERYTHING never changed the call or helped one's blood pressure.

If it becomes that stressful, it's time to find a new hobby!

Nice write up Chucky. But sadly it is a waste of time for most of these guys around here not to bitch. I wouldnt mind bitching if it didnt go on and on and on. But it does and will probably continue to do so. Good luck and congrats on the Steelers

Of course there's a "human element" to sports as the only sport moving to taking that out is tennis as far as officiating. But you don't think it's "odd" that the "human element" always went against Seattle and at the most crucial of times? And I really find it odd that you of all people, a fan of all/most sports, would say all that matters is the final outcome in the paper. So you would be ok with horribly officiated games in any sport, as long as you won? Who would want to watch or be a part of that? And I removed myself from the gambling aspect of the Super Bowl by not bettting. But that doesn't mean I want to watch a poorly officiated one either..

I knew you'd disagree because what you like to do.....In any given sport, referees control the game....Some neglect to make any calls, others seem to like to throw a flag.....In the NFL, there is holding on almost every down....There is pushing and holding by receivers and defensive backs.....Some refs find them-self out of position to truly make the right call, so they don't throw a flag......Others only do it in the red zone....
That isn't the only reason why Pgh won....They did hold Seattle to 5 first down in 17 trys.
Jackson had 5 receptions for 50 yds in the first qtr....After that he had none.....After halftime Pgh made the better adjustments and made the best of every situation..
Seattle had 2 turnovers and only got 7 points...They were shut down in the red zone by a defense that played to bend, but not brake...Their kicker shanked 2 field goals....
I could go on and on...But what good will that do....
If you are going to let yourself get pissed off by refs decisions, then I suggest finding something else to watch and quit gambling.....In the history of sports, games are won and lost on the field and refs calls whether good or bad have always determined some outcomes..
When I was in Pgh's camp in 1979...As a DB, I was taught to get underneath the receivers pads and hit him all over the field....After Pgh won their 4th Super Bowl, the 5 yd chuck rule was established by the owners to make the game more offensively exciting to the game...Some could say that New England's DB would get away with holding because they were the defending Champs...And rules were again changed last yr. to make the game more competative....

You need to learn to enjoy what your doing or just simply quit doing or watching it.....And find something else to bid your time..

I'm through with explaining myself and will continue to enjoy life to the fullest...

Congrats chuck... I've never done any of the stuff you've talked about regarding betting over my head, but I have found myself obsessing over scores. I've still got a lot to learn, but this was still a tough pill to swollow.

I'm not fine being on the wrong side of a horribly officiated game. I also don't start "Fuck the World" threads when it happens to me. It goes into the daily notebook as a W or L and that's it.

Bad calls against Seattle? Sure BUT imo it figured into Home Field advantage here and Pitt. had it and people on Pitt. knew that going in. Plain & Simple and if you didn't factor that in you "Missed The Boat" capping that particular part of your wager. Pitt. was screwed on Indy's turf SEVERAL times and they overcame it all to win. N.E. had alot of bad calls go against them at Denver and couldn't recover. It happened everywhere in the playoffs and it usually favored the home team.

The refs are human and when their not sure about what they saw they react to the crowd. It happens and i'm sure they (at times) get caught up in the emotion that's going on in any particular building. That was a big factor in everything and it's a trickle down effect.

People need to stop whining about a loss and take it like a win when it happens.

Totally agree.I had my money on the under and it didn't really matter to me who won.Yet I found this to be one of the worst played and officiated Super Bowls ever.Pitt won and congrats to them and their backers. But can you honestly say that Pitt played a great game and deserved to win? A Super Bowl winning QB with a rating of 22? Yikes! The horrible officiating in this game was a microcosm of the whole year.Hopefully this will open some eyes to the league that something has to be done. How bout starting with,"If you own an AARP card, you can't be an official" This is a game played by 20 and 30 yr olds being policed by senior citizens.LOL Anyway congrats to Pitt fans.
                          WAR EAGLE..MMMMM...TASTES LIKE CHICKEN!

What a dipshit of a statement that I am disagree with you b/c that's what I do. Read where I said I didn't have a PENNY on the game. And where did I say Pitt still wouldn't have won. I didn't think Ben got in at goal line, but am I saying they wouldn't have gone for it on 4th and inches? They still would have scored in my opinion. I am only saying that the calls (right or wrong) were all against Seattle at crucial times. We have all seen penalties that come at meaningless times, and all/most of Seattle's were at crucial times. I guess the bottom-line question CEC is; Do you think is was a poorly officiated game or not? Not asking if Pitt would have lost if calls went other way or not, just whether your opinion is that the game was officiated well?

I agree 100% about the whining about a loss. If you have money management, then it's a 1 unit loss in my opinion as far a how I bet games at 1 unit. Others might have more based on the MM style. Since I didn't bet the game, I don't feel I "missed the boat" on the home field capping angle. I agree that the influence of a "home" team has A LOT to do with officiating. That still doesn't mean I think it was a well-officiated game. Listen to many sports shows today. What is the topic talked about in the top 3. It's officiating. For this game and the season. Maybe all this talk will cause some changes for the better.

I watched Pitt Panthers lose yesterday by the refs not calling traveling and fouls against Georgetown....Georgetown got the calls because of the home court.....I knew this coming in it could happen....When it happened, did I come here and cry about it.....NO.......
If you can't accept the refs decisions in sports in general, I honestly suggest you start watching cartoons....It will make you feel better......Or is it, you like to constantly debate about thing in general...If you do, then you should join a debate team and don't watch sports....
