not all have high paying jobs, but many do since they are go-getters in their personal life....I talked to the referee Carey after the green bay sunday night game....We both had the same flight out of green bay...He is a snowboard salesman and was a Rb for santa clara......I can not imagine a snowboard salesman is a huge paying job, but gives him the flexibility to do both.....I do not think full time officials will change anything....I do think younger, in shape officials can be in better position to make the calls....The season is 16 weeks plus the playoffs and these guys work 1 day per week...It is not like baseball (7 games), basketball and hockey....These require full time refs.....I do not believe that football requires men to give up their natural vocation for 20 games per year....Originally posted by JaxsonAnd they only work what 20 games a year and most of them have High paying jobs to go along with it

[QUOTE=Chuck E. Cheese]The solution to this referee problem is to put the referees on a steady salary and not be part time job....Just as players get a pay check, so should they.....
[QUOTE]
I think another solution/suggestion would be to let the play go until the ball stops moving and sort it out afterwards. If the goal (no pun) of instant replay is to get it right, but a whistle stops/trumps everything, what sense does that make. The game is too quick for these older officials, and I don't even know if younger ones would be better. I realize the "human element" will always be there, but many of these calls are not only game-changing, but season-changing ones. Zero accountability too, unless there are behind-the-scenes reviews. But Tag wouldn't have info like that out in the open so, who knows what's done.Pre-ban 1-0 (+1.00)
Post ban 6-4 (+3.90)

More cameras on the field to get better angles also would eliminate being out of position by a ref...It can't hurt and could only help...In a few weeks the owners will get together and try to teak the rules for next year....Hopefully they listen and learn by what people and reporters are saying about this years controverseys...Only time will tell...

Nice write-up Cheeser. I try to live by your 16 rules myself. I recently had a bad streak and took almost two weeks off from wagering. I have since then made one hell of a comeback thanks to people like you, kapt, frankb,rj,wayne, and all the great cappers here. You and the aboved mentioned are all first class acts in my book. JMO

CEC - Good post. I have been around the wagering world for quite a few years, and by experience I learned many of your points the hard way, but I have learned!!
The only thing I would add is - Don't make the Super Bowl your biggest bet of the year. It is over analyzed, and over hyped.
Money management is important, like you say don't chase your losses. If you are on a winning streak, that is the time to up your units played. When losing go down to minimum units or just stop for a while.
With some care you can still wager, enjoy the games and have a good time.
Best of luck the whole BC crew!

chuck, congrats on the win, my dolphins haven't come close in a long time so i'm envious!! second, great initial write-up!! it was well put and (not to be corny) caring, a true testament to a gentleman. unfortunately, the subsaquent posts by you and others didn't seem to be of the same nature. i know if your team wins you don't want it tatinted, and i know that the bitching and whinning can get REALLY OLD. but to just say, "hey, live with it, it happens and you have no right, cause, or reason to be salty" is a bit short sighted, imo. i think a lot of the people are just fans that feel it wasn't really fair, or close to fair and they were saddened by it, it wasn't just gamblers complaining or COMMENTING (there's a big difference). you pointed out several reasons OTHER THAN the officials that seattle lost, and i agree there were several of those my freind. i just feel, in this case, if someone would like to discuss, IN A MATURE, INTELLIGENT manner some of those critical calls that went against seattle, they should be cut a little slack (this being the biggest game of the year and all). now, posts like the one i read from wright something i think, with all kinds of crazy nonesensical cursing are just ridiculous and have no place here amongst mature intelligent individuals who are passionate about their football. i hope all the rest of your sports teams do as well as your steelers did!! take care and thanks...Originally posted by Chuck E. CheeseI watched Pitt Panthers lose yesterday by the refs not calling traveling and fouls against Georgetown....Georgetown got the calls because of the home court.....I knew this coming in it could happen....When it happened, did I come here and cry about it.....NO.......
If you can't accept the refs decisions in sports in general, I honestly suggest you start watching cartoons....It will make you feel better......Or is it, you like to constantly debate about thing in general...If you do, then you should join a debate team and don't watch sports....
ALWAYS RIDE THE STREAK!!!

well, after reading all six pages now, no offense chuck, but i think jcindaville takes the prize for best post. i think that's all MOST of the fans out there are thinking. not that any steelers or their fans need to apologize, hell no they don't, just to realize that it was a less than exemlary way to win....PLEASE don't take that wrong, searching for the right word..lol. pit did nothing but play hard and overcome a terrible start and should be applauded for it!ALWAYS RIDE THE STREAK!!!

Congrats Chuck on your Steelers, I don't bet on my favorite teams especially when they are favorites of more than 3 points. I was wondering how you would have felt if the Steelers had won by 3 points and not covering the spread would you feel just has happy today? I know I would have somewhat mixed feelings. CONGRATS AGAIN and will be looking for your baseball (POD) picks this upcoming season.
