Seriously, at 25 Million those are average numbers for GayRod. He should be far & above everyone in MLB based on his contract. Is he worth it? No Way, not when you can sign Pujols, Ortiz, AND Andruw Jones for less than what GayRod costs.
The only people i remember with 25 Million contracts are Jordan and Shaq and they were being rewarded for being the most dominant player in the game AND WINNING TITLES! Can GayRod say either? Seriously, WTF has he done to deserve that price tag except for being gay?Last edited by wayne1218; 10-11-2005, 10:25 AM.

I know you can regard this as hearsay, but I remember specifically the Sportscenter episode where they showed all the stats (BA, Homeruns, RBI's) of both players;then when they showed the stats with game on the line from 7th inning on I believe, even I was surprised;I think 10Dime's stats are pretty close to the truth.
I guess what it comes down to is what criterion you use to judge who should be voted the MVP.
I admit I am biased watching the Sox and Ortiz day in and day, out and obviously I love it when ARod fails in the clutch as he did last night(except if I bet the Yanks of course lol);even so, I think Ortiz gets the nod all things considered. As Wayne pointed out dollar for dollar in terms of salary, there is simply no comparison between the two players, although I don't think the people doing the voting will use that criterion.
I will say this in terms of the Sox:I would take either Mariano Rivera or Jeter before I took ARod if I could have my chocie as to which player would fit in better with the Red Sox.Last edited by savage1; 10-11-2005, 10:29 AM.

Can i please chime in here guys???
What has A-Rod ever won??? ..... Piling up great stats on bad teams does not necessarily make a winner..... he's not worth the money .... I'd rather have a player like Jeter who's actually got a ring and knows how to win..... JMHO

Excuse Me, Can I have Your Attention Please!!!!
This Photo Just In...
Since A-Rod is out of work, he contacted a Mr. J. White for a job during his off season.
This picture is of A-Rod taking time off of his new off season job to take a few pictures for the kids.Attached FilesLast edited by Lsufan; 10-11-2005, 10:35 AM."Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant'

Spark-unfortunately many people look only at the stats, and not what those stats mean in terms of his teams's winning a particular game or in this case championship.
If we were talking olympics and somehow individual achievements in baseball were the criterion for winning a gold medal, then ARod would win a boatload of them.
In the real world of baseball though, we all know it is a team effort and that many other things BESIDES individual achievements must be considered;in this respect I think ARod fails to match his individual achievements and certainly not up to the level I think necessary in order to be considered for MVP.
Converesly, I guess what I am trying to say is that Ortiz fits in so well with the Sox(of course having Manny doesn't hurt), and watching this team every day, I just have a gut feeling that without him team would not have come even close to making the playoffs(especially considering that mediocre pitching staff and even worse for the bullpen).
