You have no fucking clue. There's no comparison.

Clearly you never watched LT play. Teams changed their entire game plan due to LT.

Ray Lewis is great. He's a ferocious hitter. LT changed how the game was player.

I might not have the hatred, true, but more importantly, the Red Sox probably wouldn't have won a WS either with ARod as they did with Ortiz.
If you want to simply want to use the broad definition of individual(not team) achievements and the versatility of the two players, then ARod would win.
However, when you dig deeper and really look at what each player did both on the field when the game was on the line and in the way of the intangibles I cited before, then I personally would give the edge to Ortiz;I know that you would laugh at this, but I would think the same even if I had no allegiance to either the Yanks or the Red sox.
It will certainly be interesting indeed to see who wins the award.
I have a feeling Ortiz is going to win it in a narrow victory.

I agree. The Sox probably don't win the WS last year with A-rod. But that doesn't mean the Ortiz is the better player.

People keep saying Ortiz has a better record with the game on the line. I agree he's hit many big homers. But can anyone back up that opinion with facts? What's each players BA with runners in scoring position. What's each players BA with the game tied or down a run? I know they have stats for it. I can't find it.

I'll look it up. The stats will shock you. I saw something like 21- 7 times in game tieing or go ahead situations Ortiz came thru 21 times this year Gayrod 7 . #'s might be off but it was clearly a landslide for papi. Again gay rod pads his stats when the score is 8-1 for NYY he hits a 2 or 3 run bomb. Never in a 3-2 game. or a tied game.

Maybe they should have 2 MVP Awards. One for straight people (Ortiz) and one for the gay people in this country (Gay-Rod). Everyone would be Papi, i mean happy!

Papi makes 5 Mill a year compared to what, 25 mill for Gay-Rod? Numbers are similiar so give it to the MUCH more VALUABLE Ortiz. Remember, nobody has been able to build a team around Gay-Rod because of his contract until he got to NY.

How many people would pick up Papi's contract compared to Gay-Rod? At that price, Papi IS MORE VALUABLE!

Papi is not the best defensively but he can play there. He was flawless doing it in the WS and some inter-league play. Gay-Rod's glove isn't worth the 20 mill. difference!

I found some stats at ESPN on close games and late in games. I don't know the criteria for each condition. Without boring everyone with the details Ortiz had the better stats in those conditions.
