I hate arod but i think he deserves the mvp. He is a great hitter and plays great defense.

Bry i think defense is a big part of a mvp award. I dont know if the voters feel that way but i do. IMO an mvp should be great offensivley and defensivley.

someone please explain to me why a DH cant win the mvp??? its about offensive #'s exclusively. If you say defense matters then why didnt brooks robinson win like 10MVP's????? the guy was a solid hitter and prolly the best fielder ever. Please answer this question

you guys are just proving my point. Defense doesnt matter. Get that thru your head. They have gold gloves for defense. Its about #'s and what the player has done for his team. GAY rod isnt even the mvp of his own team. Mariano is. If you know anything about GAY Rod or watched him which i have cause i'm stuck with yankees coverage. Gayrod got most of his HR's rbi's in situation where games were already decided one way or the other. IE he pads his stats. This isnt even an arguement. NOW if you wanted to argue Rivera should be MVP i'll listen. But gay rod NO WAY.

Gay rod is a better player all around. But better hitter? no way. Big papi is a monster and mr clutch. Manny struggled early this year and Ortiz carried the team. Gay rod has jeter,giambi,sheff,matsushi, all hitting around him. Who besides manny does papi have?? This arguement is a joke. Gay rod is one of the most OVERRATED players ever.

I have to disagree;if I am not mistaken, the award is for which player is most valuable to his team.
Judging by how many crucial hits Ortiz got late in the game to lift the Sox in into the lead or propel them to victory, I think Ortiz should get it defense not withstanding.
Even though award is for this year, I cannot help but be influenced by the fact that ARod has NEVER won a WS anywhere, where as Ortiz has;in my mind intangibles must be considered, and I think Ortiz gets the edge here.
I know it has been said before but I consider Ortiz a better team player all things considered than is ARod.
Lets put it this way: there is no way in hell that I would trade Ortiz for ARod(and I would bet anything that Theo wouldn't either);as I stated previously, Sox have won the WS with Ortiz-neither the Yans, Mariners or Rangers have won a WS with ARod, and in actuality, the aforementioned teams have played better without him.

my point is Brooks robinson was awesome, so was ozzie smith at defense. You dont see them taking home MVP awards now do you???? JBC do you think a kicker should win MVP in NFL????
