A lot of people wait and see what the players do in the post season to determine...and if you do that, I think the nod goes to Ortiz. Were either one "clutch" to pull their team into the next round...not necessarliy...but Ortiz had a better series.

I think Ortiz wins one of the closest MVP's in history.

Savage that's not part of the criteria for MVP. What he did last year in the playoffs has no bearing on the MVP vote.

For the last time. Playoff performance has no effect on MVP voting. The voting is already done.

the sports are different. But who was the last Defensive player to win MVP in the NFL???? LT was about as dominate as they come. Lets face it offense is what sells. I'm not saying its right, i'm saying its how it is and shouldnt be changed now.

Bry i am not saying those guys should not have won mvp's. I am simply saying that MVP should be able to play great offense and great defense. I never got to see ozzie or robinson play but i know ozzie was a great defensive player. My point is Arod is one of the best hitters in the AL if not the best and he is one of the best 3rd baseman as well.

Ok-all I know is that this year it was shown on tv that in big hits from the 7th inning on with the game on the line this year, Ortiz had it easily over ARod.
By my way of thinking there is something missing with ARod; no matter where he plays, yeah he gets his individual achievements; somehow though, the intangibles are missing, such as leadership and an inability to inspire his teammates to play better.
I judge by results, and as someone once said (erroneously) about Yaz, ARod in my mind is an allstar from the shoulders down.

Ray Lewis is more dominant than LT. I've never seen a guy that can control the entire game like Ray Lewis, and I hate Baltimore

BALTIMORE def could be the most overrated D in the history of the NFL they had 1 good year. They regularly give up 20+ pts per game. Lewis is awesome. LT was better he changed the game!!!

Ps-Personally I think Mariano was more of a MVP to the Yankees this year than was ARod considering what he did when game was on the line.

You're letting your hatred of the Yanks and love for the Sox cloud your judgement.

Before coming to the Red Sox Ortiz was an good player. He's now playing in a hitters ballpark. I can't help believe that if the Sox had Gay-Rod you wouldn't have the hatred you feel for him.

If I'm not mistaken, ASB now owns Gay-Rod's high heels that he is wearing in the picture.
