    Lets put the question differently:
If in the total scheme of things you had to choose which is more important in determining what a person is all about, which criterion would you use:
Alayer who is humble, gracious, is a great teammatem, goes beyond the call of a duty to do what he asked to as a player without complaining and more importantly gives freely of his time to visit sick children, some of who have terminable diseases, and make their lives happier by his visit and also by doing charity work and once in a while is not in the mood for signing autographs OR the opposite of above in some respects-no charity, making sick kids lives happier and signs autographs every time?
Obviously above is extreme example, but I would certainly select the first type of player on a split second.
A healthy child who may not get an autograph because a player is not in the mood pales in comparison with a dying child's day being made more happy because a famous athlete spent some quality time with him or her.

Savage i treat people HOW THEY TREAT ME and respect works the same way.

You should try doing the same. Have you met Tim? Was he nice to you?

I would bet anything that Wakefield is as respected as much as anyone on that team by his fellow players, management and most important the entire Boston Community, which is what counts the most in the long run.

Wayne-I judge by what a person does overall, how he lives his life and not one isolated incident as to whether he signed an autograph on a given day or not.

Once Again. I'm sure except for a few players you could say the same about Bonds. You know the S.F. fans love him and management certainly misses him as well. You generalizations don't mean much in the big picture.

                  Are you reading my replies??

It was 3 days of incidents, not 1.

I am not condoning what Wakefield did or did not do, but in the entire scheme of things it is not as significant and/or as important as you make it out to be especially when compared with the multitude of goodness the man had shown in other areas of his life.

                      What's your reply to this?

Savage i get the feeling Tim could throw people off a bridge and you would find a way to stick up for him. That is all good but first impressions mean everything to me and he was an asshole!

Wayne-I read all your reponses, and as stated I think we will have to agree to disagree.
You want to use autograph signing and fraternizing with the fans as the criterion for judging the person;I go by what he has done overall during his stay in Boston.

By the way what good did Alkbert Belle do?-try to run over a couple of people in his way with his car-How does that compare with not signing autographs on a given day!
ps At least we agree that Extra Innings is great.

Remember it isn't what he does "On the Camera" that makes a man. They know the lights are on and the film is running. Their TRUE colors show when the camera is OFF!

Think about that before you reply. What, do you think he is going to be an ass while the news and print media are watching?

Is Bonds humble like Wakefield and does he put the team first?
Listen to them both some time;I know which of the two types I would want my daughter to marry-it isn't too hard to figure out.

So what you are saying is that all Wakefield's good deeds were all done for show? If you think that, then you and I have a different view of human motivation.
