Its funny(well not for you guys), but I had G. Washington and watched in disbelief as the GW player(can't recall his name) stole the ball and threw/flipped in that 3 point prayer shot at the buzzer;believe me, I have lost a lot more of those than I have won.Last edited by savage1; 02-26-2005, 05:46 PM.

duke-clemson 1995?
nearly ten years ago to the day
clemson was solid that year...advanced to sweet 16
game at cameron
spread duke -7
duke led by 8 with less than 10 seconds left and the ball
clemson was letting clock run out......not fouling
with less than a second left
duke loses the ball out of bounds..... 0.8 seconds left
crowd rushes the floor....cause clemson was highly ranked
technical foul was called
refs clear the court
mcintyre for clemson....about 90% from the line...makes both free throws
the most outrageous loss ive ever had

Last season I had Jax Jags minus 2 1/2 and over 40 against the Saints. It looked like a split as Jags were winning 20-13. I thought I was given a shot to win both bets...
With six seconds left and the Saints trailing 20-13, Aaron Brooks passed to Donte' Stallworth, who flipped the ball to Michael Lewis. He pitched back to Deuce McAllister, who lateraled to Jerome Pathon, who went the final 21 yards and dove in for the score.
John "fuckhead" Carney missed the extra point and I lost both bets... Instead of OT Saints lost 20-19Last edited by Bernard; 02-26-2005, 10:23 PM.

Thanks
TO EVERYONE!! I HAD NO IDEA until you all started bringing these up that I IN FACT HAD SOME OF THESE VERY FUC$$ING SAME LOSSES!!
BUT........These are GREAT TO READ.....EASES some of my pain anyway.
HERE IS JUST ONE MORE THIS YEAR!!My Golden Gophers in Basketball playing non-conference foe AT HOME and I believe it was lowly Central Michigan even an easy road touch in their conference IN DECEMBER.....MINNESOTA IS AT a -14.5 FAV AT HOME...SHOULD WIN BY 20......It is surprisingly close at games end as Minn has like a 77-59 lead and only 40 seconds or so to go......CMICH with the ball.....they swing it around and get a bucket with the shot clock to go for a 77-61Goph lead and I mentally bank this one and go get a beer AS I WATCH MINN bring the ball up and CMICH backs off uncontested allowing Tucker to just stand there and dribble the clock out......tick tick tick.....clock goes from 35-30-25-20-15-10 seconds......THEN SUDDENLY...SOME DORK FRESHMAN WATCHING THIS RUNS UP AND SLAPS THE BALL OUT OF HIS HANDS AND DOESN'T EVEN MOVE......BUT ONE OF HIS TEAMMATES ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COURT lopes over to keep it from going out of bounds.....kind of dribbles towards the bucket as all the other players are looking at this kid going what the hell you doing......the CMich player just flicks the ball at the basket from about 10 feet away to walk off the court.......it hits the glass and goes in.......as the even Coach Munson is on the floor taking his pissed off guard off the floor so he doesn't get stupid.....
OH YEAH.......LOST BY THE HOOK......That began that streak and I have WILL MAKE A POINT OF NEVER PLAYING A HALF POINT AGAIN IN EITHER DIRECTION!! I WILL BUY THE HOOK!
GEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZ THAT SUCKED!!
Thanks again to all.........I have been on some of these! gvI am NOT schizophrenic......and NEITHER am I! Just paranoid that fear may overcome my insanity!

That ASU game some of you are referring to was against USC when Jake the snake put the Sun Devils up by 7 in ot then USC fumbled or threw a pic that was returned for a td.........ASU wins by 13...
Boy do I feel old but my toughest loss was this......
Anyone old enough to remember............
1981 NCAA championship game Georgetown vs. North Carolina.............took UNC-1.5 over a Patrick Ewing led gt team........a freshman named Jordan hits a jumper to put UNC up by 1 with like 21 sec remaining.........I am screwed now because GT holds for the last shot and even if they miss I still lose...........GT runs like 18 seconds off the clock and the Georgetown's player throws the ball right into the hands of James Worthy who has an open court for a dunk.......instead he dribbles around for a few seconds and gets fouled with 1.6 seconds left.........now NC is in the bonus so all he has to do is make 1 of 2........all-american.......top three nba pick........I was counting my winnings......but the dumbass preceded to miss both shots and then celebrate the last 1.6 seconds as UNC win the NC with a 1 point win............ARGH

I have 2 my friends that go right to the top of the list.
Does anyone remember the Ernest Byrner fumble in the Cleveland/Denver playoff game a few years back? I do, and there's was a damaged bathroom door somewhere in New Jersey to go along with it.
Buffalo/Dallas Super Bowl, box pool, I believe my numbers were 9 Dallas, 0 Buffalo. 52-10 Dallas late in the 4th quarter, does anyone remember the Leon Lett/Don Beebe incident, I do. It only cost me 5K with the final score.
There's many more, both those 2 are top

In NFL 2-3 yrs ago, Seattle Seahawks vs another team I can't remember because I'm still pissed off about it. But anyhow, Seahawks were getting 4 points and they were down 5-6 points. They drove all the way to about 30 yard line and 3-4 seconds left. Do they go for it, NO!!!! They go for a field goal! Why? They make the field goal, time is up, and they lose by 2-3 points and they cover the spread. I remember this because I played the opposite team. I would have placed this in the best win if I had the Shethawks. Even the commentators where asking why? Fishy Fishy in NFL.

bobt
I remember both games very well. In Denver Bernie Kosar lead the Browns in an unbelievable comeback and were driving for the victory. It looked to me like Ernest Byner fumbled in the endzone (a la Eric Dickerson). I remember something being very weird about that. Anyway, Denver won and covered.
Leon Lett is the poster boy for Superbowl Boxes.
2 tough beats for sure.
