  • Cousins, Vikings pass by Packers 24-17
    November 25, 2018
    ShareFacebookTwitterDiggMySpace

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Kirk Cousins bounced back from his worst game for Minnesota with 342 passing yards and three touchdowns without a turnover, and the Vikings overcame some early gaffes to outlast the depleted Green Bay Packers for a 24-17 victory on Sunday night.

Completing 29 of his 38 attempts, Cousins found Dalvin Cook, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen for scores. Sheldon Richardson had two sacks to lead the defense's game-long stifling of Aaron Rodgers, and the Vikings (6-4-1) pushed the Packers (4-6-1) further back in the NFC wild card race.

Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Davante Adams and Aaron Jones scored on a short run for a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter, but the Packers fell to 0-6 on the road and 1-5-1 against the Vikings in their last seven meetings.

      • MNF - Titans at Texans
        November 25, 2018
        By Kevin Rogers

        LAST WEEK

The Titans (5-5 SU, 6-4 ATS) were flying high off a pair of underdog victories over the Cowboys and Patriots, but ran into a buzzsaw against a red-hot Colts’ squad. Indianapolis ripped up Tennessee, 38-10 as one-point home favorites, while the Colts jumped out to a commanding 24-3 halftime lead. Marcus Mariota started at quarterback for Tennessee, but didn’t finish as the Heisman Trophy winner suffered a stinger in the first half.

Blaine Gabbert replaced Mariota and played the final two plus quarters, but it wasn’t enough to save Tennessee from falling back to .500. Gabbert threw a late touchdown pass to get the Titans in the end zone for the first time against the Colts, as the former Missouri standout will be backing up Mariota on Monday night. Mariota is expected back to help lift a Titans’ offense that was limited to less than 300 yards in the setback at Indianapolis.

The Texans (7-3 SU, 4-6 ATS) remained on fire following an 0-3 start as Houston captured its seventh consecutive victory in a 23-21 triumph at Washington. Although the Texans failed to cover as three-point road favorites, Houston overcame three turnovers, including two interceptions thrown by Deshaun Watson. The Texans squandered a 17-7 lead but were able to come out on top thanks to a 54-yard field goal booted by Ka’imi Fairbairn to give Houston the advantage for good in the fourth quarter.

The lone offensive touchdown by the Texans came on a Watson connection to DeAndre Hopkins from 16 yards out in the first quarter to give Houston a 10-0 cushion. The last touchdown by Houston occurred late in the first half on a Justin Reid 101-yard interception return for a score, as the Texans settled for two field goals in the second half, but it was good enough for the win to remain atop the AFC South.

        TEXAS-SIZED STREAK

Only the Saints own a longer current winning streak (10) than the Texans in the NFL, as Houston last lost in Week 3 at home to the Giants. The Texans passed the Colts, Titans, and Jaguars along the way, while allowing 21 points or less in five of the past six games. The offense hasn’t been spectacular in this stretch by scoring 20 points or fewer four times, but Houston has grabbed four victories away from NRG Stadium in this span.

        DOGGED OUT

Tennessee entered last Sunday’s contest with a 5-2 SU and 6-1 ATS mark in the role of an underdog, which included outright victories over Houston, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Dallas, and New England. However, the Titans have lost twice as a ‘dog by 21 points against Baltimore and 28 points at Indianapolis, as four of the covers came when receiving 4 ½ points or more.

        SERIES HISTORY

These two division rivals hooked up in Week 2 in Nashville as the Titans held off the Texans, 20-17 as 3 ½-point underdogs. The offensive spark for Tennessee came on a perfectly executed fake punt which resulted in a 66-yard touchdown from Kevin Byard to Dane Cruikshank early in the first quarter. Mariota didn’t start after getting injured in the season opener at Miami as Gabbert connected with Taywan Taylor on an 18-yard strike to give the Titans a 14-0 advantage.

Watson tossed a pair of touchdowns to go along with a Fairbairn field goal to put Houston in front, 17-14, but Ryan Succop drilled a pair of fourth quarter field goals to give Tennessee the three-point victory. The home team has captured the last five matchups in the series, while the Titans have dropped six straight meetings in Houston since 2013.

        HANDICAPPER’S CORNER

VegasInsider.com expert Joe Nelson checks in on this AFC South battle as he looks at the impact of Watson following Houston’s slow start, “After his abbreviated rookie season, Watson has guided the Texans to seven straight wins since the 0-3 start. He has taken 33 sacks this season but has been a solid statistical quarterback currently 13th in the league in QB Rating, though just 20th in QBR after posting what would have been the league’s best QBR last season had he qualified with enough playing time.”

From a defensive standpoint, both these rivals have been solid of late according to Nelson, “The success for Houston has been due to the defense allowing just 20.5 points per game, though Tennessee is actually second in the NFL allowing only 18.9 points per game. Houston’s offense has scored 61 more points than the Titans in 10 games with Tennessee the fifth worst scoring team in the NFL. Houston has allowed just 3.7 yards per rush this season for the fourth best mark in the NFL, surrendering only five rushing touchdowns all season.”

GAME PROPS - According to Westgate Superbook

        Total Completions - Marcus Mariota
        OVER 19 ½ (-110)
        UNDER 19 ½ (-110)

Total Touchdown Passes - Marcus Mariota
        OVER 1 ½ (+130)
        UNDER 1 ½ (-150)

Total Gross Passing Yards - Deshaun Watson
        OVER 248 ½ (-110)
        UNDER 248 ½ (-110)

Total Touchdown Passes - Deshaun Watson
        OVER 1 ½ (-125)
        UNDER 1 ½ (+105)

Total Receiving Yards - DeAndre Hopkins
        OVER 88 ½ (-110)
        UNDER 88 ½ (-110)

        LINE MOVEMENT

The Texans opened up as 6 ½-point favorites at the Westgate Superbook, but the line has sunk to four and even down to 3 ½ at several books. There hasn’t been much movement on the total, which opened at 41 and currently sits at 41 ½ across the board. The last two meetings in Houston have finished OVER the total, but the Texans have scored 17 points or less in three of the past four matchups (in Nashville), while putting up 57 in last season’s showdown at NRG Stadium.

NFL Week 12 MNF Betting Preview
          Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans

It's going to be hard to top the excitement that last week's MNF game between the Chiefs and Rams brought to the entire world, but at least we should see some resemblance of professional defense being played with the Titans and the Texans sharing the field.

YouWager.eu Odds: Houston (-6.5); Total set at 41.5

This is the second of two meetings between these AFC South rivals, after the Titans were able to win the first meeting 20-17 as slight (+3.5) home underdogs. A week later the Texans lost against the Giants to fall to 0-3 SU, but they haven't lost since and comfortably sit atop the division with a two-game lead entering the week. Tennessee is tied with Indianapolis in that second spot and if the Titans want any shot at winning this division, they've got to go out and snap this winning streak Houston is on.

The Texans seven-game winning streak has been impressive without question, but they've also been plenty lucky during it as well. The streak started with consecutive OT victories over Indianapolis and Dallas when those two opponents basically handed Houston the game.

They were followed by wins over Buffalo, Jacksonville, Miami, Denver, and Washington, a collection of teams that have either been so bad or so ravaged by injuries this year that it's almost as if this winning streak was inevitable for Houston. But the Texans can only play who's in front of them on their schedule, so it's not like they can be ridiculed too much for doing what they were supposed too.

Yet, as with any team on a long winning streak, point spreads start to creep up a little higher each week and that's precisely what we've got here. Houston has been playing well, but I'd suggest they aren't nearly as good as a seven-game winning streak suggests, especially when you look at just how weak their quality of opponent has been during it.

Tennessee isn't light years better than those squads, but they are arguably the best of the bunch (at least at the time), and they do already own a win over Houston this season. That's not something that should be easily overlooked in this spot, and while a banged up QB Marcus Mariota is a bit of a concern, all reports suggest he's likely going to give it a go on Monday night. Remember, even if it does end up being backup QB Blaine Gabbert going for the Titans, it was he who started (and won) that earlier meeting with Houston.

So while it's probably going a little far to call this Houston team fraudulent and this seven-game winning streak nothing more than smoke and mirrors, I do believe there is some truth in those thoughts here. Asking them to win by a TD is bit much considering they've only done so three times during this winning run, with the other four victories all coming by three points or less. Houston also doesn’t have the greatest history under the MNF lights as they are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 appearances, and a 3-8 ATS run in division games does them no favors either.

With Tennessee on a 7-0 ATS run on MNF, 6-1 ATS in their last seven division games, and 8-2 ATS off a SU loss, I'll gladly take the points with this Titans team that's fighting to stay in the hunt for a division title. Buying it up to +7 is another way to go here, but the Titans should be able to keep this within a FG at worst.

          • NFL ICYMI: Baker's got no love for Hue; Browns matter now
            November 26, 2018
            By The Associated Press

Led by brash rookie QB Baker Mayfield, the Cleveland Browns suddenly merit keeping an eye on.

Are they legitimate playoff contenders yet? Of course not; only their most ardent fans would say so.

Still, the Browns - owners of just one victory over the previous two entire seasons combined - are a club that now matters, not just because they're capable of winning, as they did 35-20 against the falling-apart Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, but also because they have some real characters.

First and foremost, of course, both on and off the field, is Mayfield, the Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall draft pick who helped the Browns (4-6-1) end a 25-game road losing skid that was one shy of the NFL record. After tossing four TD passes and zero interceptions, he made sure to get in his shots against his former head coach, Hue Jackson, who was fired by Cleveland less than a month ago and quickly took a job with the Bengals as a defensive assistant.

Afterward, when they met on the field for a handshake, Mayfield resisted what appeared to be Jackson's attempt to bring him in for a hug. Then, speaking to reporters, Mayfield took what could only be construed as a jab at Jackson and the also-fired Todd Haley, the Browns' former offensive coordinator, saying: ''We have people that we believe in calling the plays now.''

            Wide-eyes emoji!

''Didn't feel like talking,'' Mayfield said of his brief postgame interaction with Jackson. ''Left Cleveland, goes down to Cincinnati. ... It's just somebody that was in our locker room asking us to play for him and then goes to a different team we play twice a year. Everybody can have their spin on it. But that's how I feel.''

There was more, too. When Browns safety Damarious Randall grabbed a pick in the first half, he ended up out of bounds on the Bengals' sideline and handed the ball right to Jackson. Hmmmm.

With Mayfield joined on offense by dynamic running back Nick Chubb - the fourth rookie in league history with rushing and receiving touchdowns in consecutive games - and young talent such as Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward on defense, plus the sort of swagger Randall showed, it looks as if the Browns might no longer provide the must-not-see-TV they've offered for quite some time.

In case you missed it, here are other top topics after the NFL season's 12th Sunday:

            FOSTER'S CASE

The most important takeaway from San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster's arrest on a domestic violence charge could be what, if anything, the NFL ends up doing about it. The 49ers said Sunday they'll put Foster on waivers; spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league is reviewing the matter.

            FIGHT!

As this season spirals out of control, Doug Marrone's Jacksonville Jaguars keep finding new ways to embarrass themselves. The latest example: Running back Leonard Fournette, who went from his team's sideline to the opposite sideline to throw punches at Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson near the stands in Buffalo's 24-21 victory. As if that weren't enough, the scrap spilled into the tunnel after both players were ejected. Fournette might have been able to help the Jags (3-8) avoid a seventh loss in a row had he remained in the game. Plus, as Hall of Famer Deion Sanders put it on the NFL Network: ''This fool ran across the field?!''

            RIVERS THREW IT

He wasn't exactly facing much of an opponent, but Chargers QB Philip Rivers sure turned in a performance to remember, completing 25 straight passes and finishing with a 96.6 completion percentage (connecting on 28 of 29 throws) - both single-game NFL records - to help LA top the Arizona Cardinals 45-10 and improve to 8-3. ''It was a fun day, to say the least,'' Rivers said.

            LUCK COULD RUN OUT

Give Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich credit for creative play designs, having Andrew Luck run pass routes in back-to-back games, including one that resulted in a 4-yard catch on fourth down to move the sticks on a TD drive in Sunday's 27-24 victory over the Miami Dolphins. But, the coolness of Luck's first career reception aside, someone also needs to remind Reich that his team's success depends largely on Luck - and that the QB missed all of last season with a shoulder injury. So maybe it's time to put those trick plays back in Reich's pocket.

              **********

Armadillo: Monday's List of 13: Den: Wrapping up a sports Sunday

Seahawks 30, Panthers 27— Carolina had ball nine times in this game; they got inside Seattle 20-yard line on seven of those nine drives, but scored only 27 points, which isn’t good, and it cost them this game- they also missed a 51-yard FG on one of the two drives that didn’t get into the red zone. Panthers also fumbled five times, though they didn’t lose any of them.

Carolina lost its last three games, with no takeaways in any of them; this was their first home loss this season. Seattle passes the Panthers in Wild Card race; they’re 10-6-2 in last 18 games as a road underdog.

Browns 35, Bengals 20— Maybe it is Hue Jackson’s fault; Browns won two of three games since they sent Jackson away, scoring 28-35 points in last two games. Bengals brought Jackson on as an assistant coach and haven’t won since, giving up 51-24-35 points in their last three games.

Cleveland’s offense in first half: 4 drives, 37 plays, 289 yards, four TD’s. They ran out the last 0:32 of the first half with a fifth drive.

Andy Dalton hurt his thumb in this game, as Cincy lost for 5th time in last six tries.

Browns ended a 25-game losing streak with this win.

Buccaneers 27, 49ers 9— This doesn’t happen much, but every so often, handicapping is a simple game. Saturday night, 49ers’ LB Reuben Foster was arrested at the team’s hotel and charged with domestic violence. The night before a game- brilliant!!! This makes the 49ers a go-against play.

49ers released Foster after the game.

Buccaneers gained 400+ yards for 6th time in last seven games, but won for first time in last five weeks. For once, they didn’t turn the ball over, going +3 in turnovers.

              Eagles 25, Giants 22:
              — Giants in first half: 5 drives, 38 plays, 346 yards, 19 points
              — Giants in second half: 5 drives, 22 plays, 56 yards, 3 points.
              — Philly was scoreless in first quarter for 5th game in a row.
              — Eagles won 17 of their last 21 games against the Giants.

Unless Saquon Barkley is hurt and Giants are hushing it up, they committed malpractice here by not feeding him the ball enough. 13 runs, 8 pass targets wasn’t near enough in this game and for the love of God, if you go for two points from the 1-yard line, give him the bleeping ball!!!!

Bills 24, Jaguars 21— This game was like a throwback to the 70’s; both teams ran for more yards than they threw for; Bills completed only 8 passes all day, but on an unseasonably warm day in western NY (44 degrees), Jacksonville lost its 7th game in a row.

Bills’ rookie QB Allen ran the ball 13 times for 99 yards; unless he learns to slide or get OB and avoid big hits, he is going to have a short NFL career. He’s got talent, but he’s got to preserve his health, or else……..

Ravens 34, Raiders 17— Speaking of running QB’s, Lamar Jackson toned it down in this game, running only 11 times, after 27 runs LW; Jackson is 2-0 as an NFL starter while Oakland lost for 6th time in its last seven games. Raiders are 15 for their last 55 on third down.

Patriots 27, Jets 13— New England is now 13-2 in last 15 series games; they gained 498 yards in this game, averaging 9.1 yards/pass attempt in a game where Jets had 10-yard advantage in field position. Patriots won last five series games played in the New Jersey swamp; they’re 14-7 vs spread in last 21 games as road favorites.

Cleveland routed Cincinnati 35-20 for its first road win since 2015, emphatically snapping a streak of 25 straight road losses that was one shy of the Lions' NFL record. The Chargers' high-powered offense suffered a possible setback when running back Melvin Gordon left with a knee injury in the third quarter of Los Angeles' blowout victory over Arizona. ... The Ravens lost safety Tony Jefferson to an ankle injury in their victory over the Raiders. Oakland defensive tackle Maurice Hurst left in the third quarter with an undisclosed injury, and defensive end Jacquies Smith left in the first half after hurting an Achilles. ... The Dolphins lost receiver Danny Amendola to a right knee injury and center Travis Swanson to an ankle injury in the first quarter of their loss to the Colts. Indianapolis running back Marlon Mack entered the concussion protocol in the fourth quarter.

                  • Failed 4th down turns tide in Titans' 34-17 loss to Texans
                    November 27, 2018
                    By The Associated Press

HOUSTON (AP) The Tennessee Titans were down by four with the ball on the 3-yard line in the second quarter Monday night against the Houston Texans when coach Mike Vrabel chose to go for it on fourth-and-inches.

Tight end Luke Stocker took the handoff and was immediately met by Zach Cunningham and Bernardrick McKinney and stopped for no gain. Lamar Miller ran 97 yards for a touchdown on the next play to make it 21-10, and the Texans went on to a 34-17 win.

''If you look at their goal-line defense and having a lot of good knowledge of what they do on the goal line, that's one play that had worked,'' Vrabel said. ''It didn't work tonight and that's not the reason that we lost. That's a bad play.''

Vrabel spent a good part of his postgame news conference fielding questions about the play and why he chose to hand the ball to Stocker, an eight-year veteran who had zero carries entering the game. In fact, Stocker said after the game that the last time he remembered carrying the ball was in high school.

''I'd like to have that back and have a chance to go lower or dive or reach the ball out or something,'' he said. ''That's on me. I've got to figure out a way to convert that.''

Some wondered why Vrabel didn't give the ball to 6-foot-3, 247-pound running back Derrick Henry in that situation.

''That's something we've repped in practice,'' Vrabel said about using Stocker. ''Just having watched that play be successful against their goal-line look, we felt good about it.''

The fact that Tennessee's defense allowed the huge run by Miller seconds after the failed fourth-down attempt was just another disappointment for the Titans.

''Runs like that can't happen,'' cornerback Logan Ryan said. ''They shouldn't happen, but it did. We've got to learn from it.''

Marcus Mariota, who missed the second half of last week's game with a stinger, was 22 of 23 for 303 yards and two touchdowns. He completed his first 19 passes before an incompletion with just more than a minute remaining.

Vrabel couldn't celebrate Mariota's effectiveness on a night when the Titans allowed the Texans to set a franchise record with 281 yards rushing, led by 162 from Miller.

''The stats are the stats,'' Vrabel said when asked about Mariota's completion percentage. ''The loss is really what I'm going to try to focus on. We've got to stop the run. There's a lot of things other than guys' individual stats that we're trying to concentrate on.''

The Titans (5-6) have lost two straight to drop into third place in the AFC South behind first-place Houston (8-3) and Indianapolis (6-5).

''We've got to stick together and we've got to go win,'' Vrabel said. ''We're going to get as prepared as we can and we've got to go out and play. We just didn't get it done tonight.''

The Titans jumped out to a 10-0 lead before Houston scored 27 straight points to take control. Tennessee finally scored again on a 48-yard reception by Corey Davis late in the third quarter, but a 10-yard TD by Demaryius Thomas made it 34-17 with just more than eight minutes left.

''We did a good job of coming out, but we got flat and couldn't pick it back up,'' Tennessee left tackle Taylor Lewan said. ''We've got the guys to do it, but we've just got to figure out a way to stop the bleeding and get it going.''

Tuesday’s List of 13: Nobody asked me, but…….

                        13) OK, first thing today, I’d like some feedback from you, the reader; whats your favorite Christmas song? I’ll post some of the more interesting answers I get sometime before Christmas.

E-mail me at [email protected] Thanks.

                        12) Jacksonville Jaguars fired offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett Monday, then named Cody Kessler their new starting QB for their home game against the Colts this week.

Previous starter Blake Bortles had started 70+ consecutive games for Jacksonville, but the team’s 7-game losing streak cost him his starting job, at least for now. During Bortles’ tenure as the Jaguars’ starting QB, Jacksonville fired three offensive coordinators.

                        11) We all think its great to be a pro athlete or a celebrity, but can you imagine what it is like to be sitting at home Monday night watching the ballgame and while a Tennessee player is hurt. the TV geniuses decide to analyze whats wrong with the Jaguars.

All of a sudden, it becomes a “bash Bortles” thing; we all know that QB’s get too much credit and too much blame, thats why they get paid a lot of cash. But it still has to be weird to be sitting at home and hear guys who may or may not know a lot critiquing your career.

                        10) Aaron Rodgers lost his last eight road starts; it’s the longest road losing streak by a Packers QB since David Whitehurst lost nine straight from 1978-81.

                        9) Bengals lost QB Andy Dalton (hand) for the season; backup Jeff Driskel will get his first NFL start Sunday at home against Denver. Driskel has thrown 36 passes in four NFL games; he was 17-29 passing in Sunday’s loss to the Browns.

                        8) Texans 34, Titans 17— When did it become OK for football coaches to become reckless and go for it on 4th down whenever they feel like it? The NFL is a multi-billion dollar business, do things that are smart!!!

Down 14-10 late in 2nd quarter, Tennessee had 4th-and-1 on the Houston 2-yard line. Instead of doing the smart thing, kicking a FG to make it 14-13, Titans not only go for it, they give the ball to a backup TE masquerading as a fullback, first time he ever carried the ball in the NFL.

The play doesn’t work, Houston runs the next play 97 yards for a TD and school is out. There is a proper time to be conservative and/or “normal.” You do enough goofy things that don’t work, and your players will stop believing in you.

                        7) Last week was the first time the Big East didn’t have anyone in college basketball’s top 25 since February, 1982. Villanova is back in the top 25 this week.

                        6) Of the first 85 games ACC basketball teams played this month, only four of them were true road games, and North Carolina played two of those (Wofford, Elon).

                        5) Atlanta Braves signed C Brian McCann to replace Kurt Suzuki and fill out their platoon at catcher with Tyler Flowers. Braves are also expected to sign 3B Josh Donaldson to a one-year deal, which Donaldson would use to get a longer deal at this time next year.

                        4) Red Sox beat the Dodgers in the World Series; the difference in each player’s winning share and losing share of World Series money: $154,810.23.

                        3) Random fact: 19,429 baseball players have made it to the major leagues.

                        2) Ole Miss football team went 0-8 against the spread in conference games this season, the first SEC team to do that, since at least 1985. They’re fifth team since 2005 in any conference to go winless against the spread in league play.

                        1) This week, Rhode Island became the 8th state to have legalized sports betting; New York hasn’t done a damn thing yet, while everyone goes over to New Jersey to bet, and spend money on food and Christmas shopping. Brilliant!!!

                        • Mixed results in Week 12
                          November 26, 2018
                          By Micah Roberts

Thanksgiving caused every book to be a loser on Thursday and the leftovers put every book in the hole for the rest of Sunday's NFL Week 12 action. Only half the books were able to climb out of the hole with a small win while others showed a small loss or ended up even.

"We were a sizable loser on the day heading into the night game," said Westgate Las Vegas Superbook VP Jay Kornegay. "We really needed one good outright win. Thanks, Miami. Our worst games were Tampa Bay, New England, the Giants, and the Chargers and the games that saved us were the Broncos, Browns, and Dolphins. We lost three-fourths of our to decisions. If we get Minnesota to cover we'll break even."

The Vikings (-4) did come through Sunday with a 24-17 win sending the Packers to 0-6 on the road this season.

The 49ers were a popular sharp play and the line dropped from the Buccaneers -3.5 to -2, but the public liked the Bucs at any number and they got there with a 27-9 win. The Giants were also a popular sharp play at Philly and the line dropped from Eagles -6 to -5. After dominating the first half, the Giants laid an egg in the second half and lost 25-22, but the Giants' bettors got the money. The Eagles have failed to cover their last three games and are a woeful 3-8 ATS this season and 5-6 straight-up with playoffs looking like a long shot for the defending Super Bowl champs.

"Thursday was bad for us," said William Hill's head bookmaker Nick Bogdanovich. "Friday and Saturday went well, but Sunday ended up being bad. USC and the Broncos saved us from a real good beating."

Notre Dame remained unbeaten with a 24-17 win at USC on Saturday night but failed to cover the 14-point spread. The books were also helped Saturday night with the final two games posted -- bettors' get-back games -- seeing underdogs win outright. First, it was UNLV taking back the cannon from Reno in a 34-29 win as 14-point home dogs and then Hawaii won at San Diego State, 31-30, as 18.5-point underdogs.

"The handle was way low compared to same Sunday last season, but we ended up with good results and need the Vikings in the late game," said Las Vegas Golden Nugget sports book director Tony Miller.

The Golden Nugget sports book in Biloxi didn't fare as well.

"It was decent early, but not good late said Biloxi Nugget manager Brad Bryant. "It's break even at best and we needed Minnesota."

The carryover risk from Thursday put the books in a bad spot to start Sunday.

"Thanksgiving Day always seem like the faves cover," Bryant said. "Really hard to believe it happens that way every year."

Atlantis Reno sports book director Marc Nelson said his shop was even heading into the late game but were a four-way loser on the game. Ouch! No way to win. The Chargers were the team that roughed up Nelson's book the most. They went from -12 to -14 against the Cardinals and won 45-10. The Cardinals scored the first TD as well.

"It was an okay day," said CG Technology VP of risk management Jason Simbal. "The worst for us was the Patriots and Chargers and the best was the Bills and Dolphins."

The Jaguars had another second-half meltdown in a 24-21 loss at Buffalo (+3). Bills QB Josh Allen rushed for over 100 yards and basically served Jags CB Jalen Ramsey a facial after Ramsey called Allen "trash" in the pre-season.

Another winning book was the chain at Station Casinos.

The Raiders and Jets were the key games for us this morning and we lost them both," said Stations sports book director Jason McCormick. "The Broncos win bailed us out."

And how about those Broncos? For the second straight week, they beat a team riding a six-game win streak. They won at the Chargers, 23-22, last week while getting 7 and they beat the Steelers Sunday in Denver, 24-17 while getting 3. The previous two weeks saw slim losses to the streaking Texans and Chiefs. All four of those games stayed Under. They're playing like a playoff team, but at 5-6 now it'll be a tough road ahead. Or will it? The next five weeks they get the Bengals, 49ers, Browns, Raiders and then the Chargers.

Another streaking team playing extremely well right now is the Colts with all their tight ends and an offensive line that is protecting Andrew Luck like he's never seen. The Colts have won five straight after losing four straight and are now 6-5, just barely behind the 6-5 Ravens for the final playoff spot. Because of their win and cover streak, the public was all over them, but Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins covered the +9 in the Colts 27-24 win.

The Patriots were a popular wager and the number ran from -9.5 to -12. The Jets had an opportunity to get the backdoor cover late in the game but failed and the Patriots won 27-13.

On the day, favorites went 5-6 ATS and the Under was 6-5.

                            **********

Armadillo: Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but…….

                            • Opening Line Report - Week 13
                              Joe Williams

                              Thursday, Nov. 29

New Orleans Saints (-7.5, 53) at Dallas Cowboys

This is a battle of first-place teams, but Vegas and bettors are loving the Saints. New Orleans is on a roll, and both of these teams are coming off a full week or rest since they each played on Thanksgiving.

William Hill opened the game at -7 1/2, and it quickly moved down to -7 within mere minutes. Offshore at BetOnline.ag, the line has yo-yoed from -7 to -7 1/2 throughout the course of Sunday night into Monday morning, while settling back at 7 1/2 as of Tuesday AM. The total has bounced around, too, opening at 51 1/2, flying up to 53 1/2, before settling in the 53-point neighborhood.

                              Sunday, Dec. 2

Indianapolis Colts (-4, 47.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Colts have been enjoying the resurgence of QB Andrew Luck, who has been on the sidelines for the better part of two seasons. It was worth the wait, as he is in the midst of a streak of eight straight games with three or more touchdown passes. He is tied with former Colts signal caller Peyton Manning for the second-longest such streak, while trailing New England Patriots QB Tom Brady for the longest in NFL history (10 games).

The Colts are 3-7-1 ATS in their past 11 games inside the division, while the Jaguars are 1-3-1 ATS in the past five at home, while going 0-3-1 ATS in the past four against AFC South foes. Indy is also 0-6-1 ATS in the past seven meetings, including a push in Indy when the Colts came away with a 29-26 victory.

Atlantis opened the game at -3 on Monday afternoon and it quickly shot up to -4 1/2 in the course of a few hours. Southpoint has held steady at -3 1/2 for Indy as of overnight Tuesday AM. Offshore is where the majority of shops have the line at -4 1/2, where Vegas is mostly listing Indy at -4.

Carolina Panthers (-3.5, 56) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Panthers are mired in a three-game slide, putting their once pretty solid playoff shot into serious jeopardy. They enter the game 1-4 ATS in the past five on the road, while the Bucs are 2-6-1 ATS in the past nine.

The Stratosphere opened the game at -4 and it fell to -3 1/2 by the overnight hours on Monday. at BetOnline.ag, the total moved up slightly from 55 1/2 to 56 in the matter of minutes, which is in line with most other offshore shops. The early money is on the Bucs, as bettors are not feeling the Cats on their three-game skid. It isn't a major move, though, as the line still has the Panthers at -3 1/2 all across the board in Vegas.

Baltimore Ravens (-1.5, 49) at Atlanta Falcons

There is some uncertainty with the total in this game, as it's unclear whether QB Joe Flacco (hip) will be able to return under center. After rookie QB Lamar Jackson played so well, perhaps Jackson keeps the job. Once head coach John Harbaugh offers clarity, the total will come out.

The line opened at -3 in favor of the Ravens, but the line is on the move. At Golden Nugget, the line opened at -2.5 and is down to -2, if you're feeling the Falcs. Caesars/Harrah's opened up at -2 1/2 and is down to -1 1/2, which is the same situation at BetOnline.ag offshore. The early money on this game has been on the Falcons, and quite a bit.

Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans (-4.5, 45)

The Browns are on a two-game heater, and they're actually on the fringe of the playoff discussion in the AFC. And it's almost December. Wacky.

Westgate SuperBook opened this game at -4 1/2, while offshore you can catch the Browns +5 at BetOnline.ag if you like the road team. The Browns broke a 25-game road losing streak in Cincinnati in Week 12, but can they take down the first-place Texans?

Even after Houston's dominance on Monday night against Tennessee, the line has held steady at -4 1/2 at most shops.

Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins (-5, 40)

The Bills kept the slide going for the Jaguars in Week 12, while the Dolphins folded in the fourth quarter in Indianapolis, falling to the Colts 27-24. They were able to cover, however.

Miami is 4-1 ATS in the past five home games, although they're 3-7 ATS in the past 10 meetings with Buffalo. Westgate SuperBook opened the Dolphins at -6 1/2, moving to -6 within an hour, and down to just -5 as of early Tuesday morning. William Hill opened the game at -5 1/2, it moved up to -6, and is back down to -5. It appears that's where things will settle heading into mid-week.

Chicago Bears (-4.5, 45) at New York Giants

This game is off the board at most Vegas shops early on. You'll have to hit the offshore books if you want in on early action, as there is uncertain with the shoulder of QB Mitchell Trubisky. QB Chase Daniel looked good on Thanksgiving, however. BetOnline.ag opened the Bears at -4 1/2, if you believe in Daniel, who could potentially start again. This is still a hard game to find a line with such uncertain in the Chicago quarterback situation.

Denver Broncos (-3.5, 42.5) at Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) suffered a thumb injury which was severe enough to land him on the season-ending Reserve/Injured list, so the Broncos remain a moderate road favorite. QB Jeff Driskel will start for the Bengals, and it's still uncertain if he'll have WR A.J. Green (toe) available.

The Broncos have consecutive wins against AFC frontrunners L.A. Chargers and Pittsburgh, so they're definitely running hot.

The Strat and Westgate SuperBook are offering up Denver -3 1/2, but those are the only Vegas shops open for business on this game so far.

Los Angeles Rams (-10, 54.5) at Detroit Lions

Westgate SuperBook opened this game at -8 1/2 and it quickly moved to -10 as of overnight Monday into Tuesday, getting in line with the Strat, William Hill, etc. BetOnline.ag had this game at -7 briefly on Sunday, but it shot up to -9 1/2 with the course of three hours. If you're sitll feeling the Rams and want single digits, Treasure Island is the place to be, as you can still catch them at -9 for now.

Arizona Cardinals at Green Bay Packers (-14.5, 44.5)

The Packers suffered several injuries to key positions, including along the offensive line, in Sunday's loss at Minnesota. There hasn't been a ton of movement on the line. The total varies from shop to shop, however. If you're feeling like it will be a high-scoring affair, hit Atlantis, Caesars or Westgate for a bargain at 44 1/2. Wynn was still holding steady at 45 as of Tuesday morning.

Kansas City Chiefs (-15, 55.5) at Oakland Raiders

The Raiders were two-touchdown underdogs at home back in 2009 against the Eagles, and they won outright by a 13-9 score. In 2014, they were 16 1/2-point underdogs at Denver on Dec. 28, 2014 and they fell 47-14. The Chiefs head into this game 11-4 ATS in the past 15 trips to the Bay Area, while the road team is 21-9 ATS in the past 30.

Westgate SuperBook has the line up to -15 1/2, quickly moving up a half-point from an open of 15 after Oakland's uninspiring road loss in Baltimore. BetOnline.ag opened the game at -13, and it quickly moved to -14 within a matter of minutes, and to -15 by the early-evening hours on Sunday to get in line with everyone else. If you're feeling the Chiefs, TI has the game list at -14 on Tuesday morning, while its at -15 1/2 at Stations if you like the home side.

New York Jets at Tennessee Titans (-9.5, OFF)

The Jets held QB Sam Darnold (foot) out on Sunday against the Patriots, as he was in a walking boot during the week. His status for Sunday's trip to Nashville is uncertain, so QB Josh McCown might be under center again. The Titans also played on Monday night, so this game has very little availability so far in terms of the total. Even after Tennessee was doubled up on MNF, they're still holding steady at -9 1/2 at most shops.

Minnesota Vikings at New England Patriots (-6, 48.5)

This is a marquee game, as the Vikings and Patriots could potentially be a Super Bowl preview. BetOnline.ag opened the game at -5 and the Pats quickly rose to -6 1/2 in the course of a few hours by overnight Monday. The total has remained steady at 48 1/2 across the board offshore. Jerry's Nugget still had the game at -5 1/2 as of Monday evening, while CG Technology opened at -7 and it was bet down to -6 in less thant 24 hours.

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks (-10, 46)

The Seahawks are flying again, forcing their way back into the NFC playoff picture after stealing one in Carolina over the weekend. The Strat and Westgate each opened the home side at a 10-point favorite. The money might fly in on Seattle this week, as the 49ers are 2-10-1 ATS in the past 13 meetings in this series, and 1-5-1 ATS in the past seven trips to the Pacific Northwest.

There hasn't been a ton of movement on this game yet, but if you really like the Seahawks and don't want to lay double digits, TI was offering the favorites at -9 1/2 into Tuesday morning.

Los Angeles Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5, 51.5)

The Bolts hit the road with a 4-1 ATS mark over the past five on the road, while the Steelers are 3-7 ATS in the past 10 at home. However, Pittsburgh is 6-0 ATS in the past six after a straight-up loss. This game was flexed in to the Sunday night spot, and it should be a shootout between QBs Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger.

Over the years the Chargers have had their troubles in the Steel City, going 2-5 ATS in the past seven trips to Pittsburgh and 3-8 ATS in the past 11 meetings overall. The Strat and Westgate SuperBook opened the game at -3 1/2 and it has held steady overnight into Monday. Offshore, BetOnline.ag opened the game at -4 and it went down to -3 1/2 to get in line with the Vegas shops.

If you love the Steelers at home, Jerry's Nugget and TI are the places to be at just -3.

Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles (-6.5, 44)

The Redskins lost QB Alex Smith to a gruesome leg injury in Week 11, and looked disjointed in a Thanksgiving showdown in Dallas. Of course, QB Colt McCoy wasn't tasked with making tackles, as the biggest problem for Washington was on defense against the Cowboys.

Philly is pretty much favored at -6 1/2 across the board, although you could still hit the road team at +7 at Wynn as of early Tuesday morning. It's a mixture of -6 1/2 and -7 across the board offshore, and there are plenty of -3 1/2 first-half lines favoring the defending champs, too, if you're into that.
