        Opening Lines: Oklahoma City -6½, O/U 195
        Television: ESPN

Memphis Grizzles: The Grizzlies (5-1 straight-up and against the spread) have five straight wins and covers after an opening loss at the Clippers. The latest was a 104-86 victory over Miami on Sunday as 1 ½-point home ‘dogs. Wayne Ellington scored 25 points off the bench after tallying 26 total points in the first five games. The "under" is 3-0 in Memphis last three games (87 points per game allowed) after the "over" was 3-0 in its first three (96.3 ppg allowed).

Oklahoma City Thunder: The Thunder (6-2 SU, 4-3-1 ATS) seem to have recovered from the shocking trade of James Harden to Houston before the season. They have won their last five games (3-2 ATS), although the combined record of those weak opponents is just 7-22. The "under" also went 4-1 in those contests with Oklahoma City’s scoring defense at 90.8 ppg. The road team went 4-0 ATS (3-1 SU) in the four meetings between the Thunder and Grizz last season.

Miami Heat at Los Angeles Clippers

        NBA Betting Preview

        Opening Lines: Pick'em, O/U 197

Miami Heat: Miami (6-2 SU, 4-4 ATS) is playing the fourth game of a six-game road trip, starting 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS. The most recent one was a 113-110 Monday win at Houston as 5 ½-point favorites. The Heat have lost their last four games at the Clippers, also going 0-4 ATS. Dwyane Wade is questionable with a foot injury (click to check updated NBA injury report).

Los Angeles Clippers: The Clippers (5-2 SU and ATS) have won and covered their last three games. Defense has been the key as they allowing just 83.3 ppg during that stretch, helping the "under" go 3-0. The "over" was 4-0 in LA's first four contests (surrendering 102.3 ppg). This team has six players averaging double-digits in scoring, led by Jamal Crawford (20.3 ppg) off the bench.

          Wednesday Tips

          November 13, 2012

The NBA season is in full force heading into its third week with several teams making their mark. The Grizzlies have won and covered five straight games, while the Bulls failed to cash in all four games on their recent homestand. We'll take a look at four of the key Wednesday contests, including the late-night showdown between the Heat and Clippers.

Jazz at Celtics - 7:05 PM EST

Utah is fresh off its first road victory of the season at Toronto, a triple-overtime thriller to even its mark at 4-4. The Jazz will try to extend their winning streak to three as they head to Boston for the second of a four-game East Coast swing. The Celtics return to TD Garden after covering their first two games of the season in road victories at Milwaukee and Chicago.

Boston put together an impressive showing in Monday's triumph at the United Center, picking up its fourth win in five tries by beating the Bulls, 101-95 as 2 ½-point underdogs. All five starters scored in double-figures, while the Celtics broke the 100-point mark for the third time in four contests. Doc Rivers' squad has failed to cover a home game this season in three tries, as Boston has lost outright to Milwaukee and Philadelphia at TD Garden.

The Jazz rallied to force overtime in Monday's wild win over the Raptors, just their first victory away from Salt Lake City in five attempts this season. In Utah's three defeats as a road underdog, Tyrone Corbin's club has lost by at least nine points, while allowing at least 100 points each time. Utah looks to snap a four-game losing skid in Beantown, as the Celtics pulled away from the Jazz in a 12-point win in late March.

Grizzlies at Thunder - 8:05 PM EST

These two teams were thought of as the up-and-coming squads in the Western Conference two years ago when Oklahoma City eliminated Memphis in the second round of the playoffs. Both clubs are contenders once again in the West, but the Grizzlies are the hottest team in the league at the moment. After losing its opener to the Clippers, Memphis has run off five straight wins, while covering each game, including a blowout of defending champ Miami on Sunday night.

The Grizzlies have won each of their last five games by eight points each, as Memphis grabbed a 15-point halftime advantage over Miami in a 104-86 rout. Memphis dominated in its previous two road contests at Golden State and Milwaukee, but Lionel Hollins' team is playing with some revenge after losing three of four meetings to Oklahoma City last season.

The Thunder has quietly grabbed five straight victories, topped off by a non-cover in a two-point road triumph at Detroit on Monday. Granted, OKC has beaten four teams in this stretch that own records of .500 or below, but all four home wins this season have come by at least 11 points. The defense is stepping up recently as the Thunder has allowed 94 points or less in seven of eight contests, resulting in a 6-2 mark to the 'under.'

Bulls at Suns - 9:05 PM EST

The "Circus" road trip is coming at a good time for Chicago, who failed to cover all five games on its recent homestand at the United Center. The Bulls lost three times straight-up, with the lone victory coming over the one-loss Timberwolves, but Minnesota managed to cash as eight-point 'dogs. Now, Chicago heads out the Valley to take on a Suns' squad that has quietly compiled a 4-4 record through eight games.

Phoenix pulled out a 110-100 home victory over Denver on Monday as 4 ½-point 'dogs, improving to 3-1 at U.S. Airways Center. However, the Suns have allowed at least 100 points in five of the last six games after giving up less than 89 points in the first two contests against the Warriors and Pistons. The 187 total is by far the lowest this season for Phoenix, while hitting the 'over' in five of the previous six contests.

The Bulls are amazingly playing only their second road game of the season, while beating down the Cavaliers in their away opener on November 2 by a 115-86 count. Chicago hasn't lost consecutive games all season, coming off Monday's home defeat to Boston. The Bulls have won each of the last three meetings in Phoenix, all while topping the 115-point mark each time.

Heat at Clippers - 10:30 PM EST

Miami plays the fourth of a six-game road swing, looking to cover for the first time since winning at Atlanta last Friday. The Heat failed to cash in Monday's three-point win at Houston, but Miami rallied from a late seven-point deficit to improve to 6-2. The task will not be easy on Wednesday, taking on a Clippers' club that is going for their fourth consecutive victory.

Los Angeles rebounded from ugly home losses to Golden State and Cleveland by knocking off San Antonio, Portland, and Atlanta -- all by double-digits. In all five victories, the Clips have limited opponents to 95 points or less. Vinny Del Negro's club faces a Miami offense that has topped the 110-point mark in four games this season. L.A. is receiving balanced scoring, as six different Clippers tallied at least 10 points in Sunday's win over the Hawks.

LeBron James led Miami's late comeback in a 113-110 victory at Houston as 5 ½-point favorites, but the Heat owns a 1-3 ATS record away from South Florida. The Heat have scored a bunch of points this season, while cashing the 'under' in four of five games coming off a win.

Pekovic, Roy, Barea all out vs Bobcats

              November 14, 2012

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The banged-up Minnesota Timberwolves aren't getting any reinforcements for their game against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Center Nikola Pekovic, shooting guard Brandon Roy and point guard J.J. Barea all were scratched for the game on Wednesday with injuries, leaving the Wolves with just nine healthy players.

Pekovic sprained his left ankle against Dallas on Monday night. Roy is missing his third straight game with a sore right knee and Barea will be out for the fourth straight game with a sprained left foot. Swingman Chase Budinger had surgery on his left knee this week and will miss three to four months.

On top of it all, All-Star Kevin Love (broken hand) and point guard Ricky Rubio (knee) have yet to play this season while they recover from injuries.

Miami Heat at L.A. Clippers: What bettors need to know
                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miami Heat at Los Angeles Clippers (-1.5, 197)

The Miami Heat continue their six-game road trip Wednesday, when they face the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. Miami escaped Houston with a 113-110 victory on Monday as superstar LeBron James scored 32 of his game-high 38 points in the second half. The Heat, who have won five of their last six contests, continue their trek Thursday in Denver before wrapping it up at Phoenix on Saturday.

Los Angeles is coming off its third consecutive win, an 89-76 triumph over Atlanta. The victory kicked off a three-game homestand for the Clippers, who had eclipsed the 100-point plateau in each of their previous six contests this season. The six-game streak of 100 or more points matched the franchise record set in 1985-86.

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, Prime Ticket (Los Angeles)

ABOUT THE HEAT (6-2, 4-4 ATS): James has scored at least 20 points in 29 consecutive games, including the playoffs. His 32 second-half points in Houston were the most by a Miami player in any half on the road in franchise history. James is averaging 23.1 points in 17 career games against the Clippers, his lowest average versus any NBA club.

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (5-2, 5-2 ATS): Los Angeles is the only team in the league with six players averaging over 10 points per game. The Clippers are looking to extend their 55-game sellout streak at the Staples Center. Guard Jamal Crawford has scored a league-high 142 points off the bench. It is the highest points total by a reserve over the first seven games of a season since 2007-08, when Dallas' Jason Terry had 156.

                  TRENDS:

                  * Home team is 12-3-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings.
                  * Over is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings.
                  * Heat are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Los Angeles.

                  BUZZER BEATERS:

                  1. Miami is 13-11 on the road against the Clippers despite losing the last four meetings in Los Angeles.

                  2. The Clippers have not lost a season series to Miami since 2003-04.

                  3. The Heat are 5-0 when shooting at least 50 percent from the field.

NBA TNT doubleheader: Celtics at Nets, Heat at Nuggets
                        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets (-3, 191.5)

The Boston Celtics could be without star point guard Rajon Rondo when they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night. Rondo rolled his right ankle in the third quarter of Wednesday's 98-93 win over Utah and didn't return. Coach Doc Rivers said following the game that he didn't know if Rondo would play against the Nets. Both teams have won three in a row. The Celtics' latest victory - sparked by Paul Pierce's 23 points - was their fifth in six games. Brooklyn is coming off its best performance of the season in a 114-101 win over Cleveland on Tuesday. Deron Williams scored 26 points and had 10 assists while Joe Johnson added 25 points. The Nets, who averaged 93 points going into the game, finally showed some offense, shooting 54.5 percent. Brooklyn led 64-42 at halftime and coasted to the victory.

                        TV: 8 p.m. ET, TNT.

ABOUT THE CELTICS (5-3, 2-5-1 ATS): Boston obviously isn't the same team without Rondo, or even if he's slowed down by his injury. He had 10 assists Wednesday, his 32nd straight game in double figures. Jeff Green and Leandro Barbosa scored 16 points apiece off the bench, both playing the entire fourth quarter. Green, who missed last season because of a heart condition, had a season high in points, while Barbosa, signed as a free agent, matched a season-best output.

ABOUT THE NETS (4-2, 3-2-1 ATS): Brooklyn's much-hyped backcourt finally had a big game Tuesday. Williams and Johnson, who have appeared in a combined eight All-Star games, went 19-of-36 from the field. Center Brook Lopez added 23 points. The Nets could also be getting some help on the injury front. Forward Gerald Wallace and guard MarShon Brooks could return from ankle problems. Backup center Andray Blatche left practice Wednesday with a migraine, but is expected to play.

                        TRENDS:

                        * Under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings.
                        * Celtics are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.
                        * Favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.
                        * Under is 4-1 in the last five meetings at the Nets.
                        * Home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.
                        * Celtics are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 road meetings versus Nets.

                        BUZZER BEATERS:

                        1. The Celtics have won three of four on the road with the only loss coming in the opener against the Heat.

                        2. The Nets begin a three-game West Coast trip on Sunday with games against the Kings, Lakers and Warriors.

                        3. Boston won all three games between the teams last season and has taken eight of the last 10 in the series.

Miami Heat at Denver Nuggets (+2, 204)

Miami doesn't have much time to get over a 107-100 loss to the Clippers as it travels to Denver for Thursday's game against the up-and-down Nuggets. The Heat are 2-2 on a six-game trip that ends Saturday. All three of Miami's losses have come away from home by a total of 45 points. Shoddy defense has been a problem for the Heat. Miami has allowed an average of 107 points in the last three games.

Overall, the Heat has given up over 100 points six times in nine games. Denver coach George Karl's team has yet to find any consistency in going .500 in the early season. The Nuggets' four-game winning streak ended with a 110-100 loss Monday in Phoenix. Denver lost its first three games and its four defeats have been by a combined 35 points. The four wins have been by a total of 44 points. The Heat defeated the Nuggets 119-116 in Miami on Nov. 3, thanks to a fourth-quarter rally and 40 points by Chris Bosh.

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, TNT, Sun Sports (Miami)

ABOUT THE HEAT (6-3, 4-5 ATS): Dwyane Wade, playing with a sprained left foot, was far from 100 percent in Wednesday's loss. He was held to six points, made just 2-of-10 field-goal attempts, and committed five turnovers in 29 minutes. LeBron James scored 30 points with seven assists and five rebounds in 41 minutes, but the Heat looked like a tired team in the second half. Miami was outscored 33-20 in the third quarter and trailed by 19 points in the fourth period.

ABOUT THE NUGGETS (4-4, 5-3 ATS): Forward Kenneth Faried, who leads the league in offensive rebounds, is expected to play after falling to the floor and hitting his head Monday. He was pulled briefly and returned, but didn't practice Tuesday. Karl is confident the NBA's fourth-leading rebounder will play against Miami. Faried is averaging 13.9 points and 10.8 rebounds. He had 22 points with 12 rebounds in the first game against the Heat.

                        TRENDS:

                        * Over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Denver.
                        * Home team is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings.
                        * Heat are 3-12-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings.
                        * Heat are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings in Denver.

                        BUZZER BEATERS:

                        1. The teams have split the four games they've played since James, Wade and Bosh joined forces in Miami.

                        2. Denver is shooting 64 percent from the foul line, which is last in the NBA .

                        3. Miami hasn't won in Denver since Jan. 29, 2002, losing 10 in a row.

                            Friday Tips

                            November 15, 2012

The NBA is back in the spotlight on Friday night with nine games on the card. The Thunder and Lakers are listed as favorites against up-and-coming squads, while the Knicks head to Memphis with no rest. We'll start in Minnesota with a beat-up Wolves' club looking to bounce back from a buzzer-beating loss on Wednesday.

Warriors at Wolves - 8:05 PM EST

This normally isn't a headline game, but Golden State and Minnesota have each jumped out to nice starts. The Warriors picked up another home victory by beating the short-handed Hawks, 92-88 as one-point favorites on Wednesday. Mark Jackson's squad goes for their third road victory, while facing a Minnesota team that is the definition of the "walking wounded."

Minnesota's late rally on Wednesday fell short against Charlotte as Kemba Walker's buzzer-beater helped the Bobcats down the Wolves, 89-87 as seven-point road underdogs. The Wolves played without Brandon Roy, Nikola Pekovic, and J.J. Barea, while Chase Budinger continues to be sidelined with a knee injury. Roy, Pekovic, and Barea are all game-time decisions on Fridays, as the Wolves try to break the 100-point mark for just the second time all season.

Golden State isn't running and gunning anymore, but the Warriors have been consistently inconsistent in the scoring department. Four times (including Wednesday) this season, the Warriors have put up 99 points or less, but they put up triple-digits in the next game the first three instances. The Warriors split their first four road games against division foes, while winning both meetings at the Target Center last season as sizable 'dogs.

Thunder at Hornets - 8:05 PM EST

Oklahoma City looks to rebound after getting tripped up at home by surging Memphis on Wednesday, 107-97 as 5 ½-point favorites. The Thunder heads to the Big Easy where it will be anything but against a Hornets' squad that has cashed in five of six games this season. New Orleans cut a 21-point deficit to just two in the final minutes at Houston on Wednesday, but the Rockets held on for a 100-96 win.

The Hornets cashed again as 6 ½-point 'dogs at Houston, the third cover as a six-point 'dog or more this season. Dating back to last season, Monty Williams' team owns a 10-1 ATS mark the last 11 games when receiving points at home, as the lone loss came as a short underdog against the 76ers on November 7. New Orleans is playing slow tempo basketball, allowing triple-digits just once in six games this season.

The Thunder's defense finally folded after giving up 94 points or less in five straight contests, when the Grizzlies burned OKC for a season-high 107 points. All three road games for the Thunder have finished 'under' the total, while two of those contests were decided by two points. Oklahoma City swept the three-game series last season, but New Orleans managed covers in the final two matchups as heavy 'dogs.

Knicks at Grizzlies - 9:35 PM EST

New York travels from San Antonio to Memphis for another contest against a top-tier Southwest Division opponent. The Knicks will attempt to stay on fire as they battle a Grizzlies' team that is riding a six-game SU and ATS winning streak. Memphis has beaten its last six opponents by eight points each, including consecutive double-digit victories over Miami and Oklahoma City.

Mike Woodson's squad has won in its only opportunity with no rest, dominating the 76ers, 110-88 as 2 ½-point road 'dogs. New York has topped the 100-point mark in five of its first six victories, with the lowest-scoring output being 99 at Orlando on Monday. The Knicks improved to 6-0 following last night's 104-100 road triumph over the Spurs, cashing for the third time in the role of an underdog.

The Grizzlies are trying to prove last season's first-round exit to the Clippers was just an aberration as Memphis has put together three fantastic outings at home. The lone loss for Lionel Hollins' team came in the opener to the Clippers, but Memphis is helping out backers with six consecutive covers, including four straight as a favorite.

Suns at Lakers - 10:35 PM EST

Mike D'Antoni is the new head coach in Los Angeles, but the former Knicks' head man will likely wait one more game to patrol the sidelines due to knee surgery. The Lakers will face the team that D'Antoni led to 54 wins or more in four consecutive seasons when the Suns invade Staples Center.

Phoenix fell short in Wednesday's home overtime loss to Chicago, 112-106, while easily cashing the 'over' of 190 ½ in regulation. The Suns have won three of four games off a defeat this season, but just one of those victories came as an underdog against the Nuggets on Monday. After hitting the 'under' in the first two games, Phoenix drilled the 'over' in six of the last seven contests.

The Lakers are going the other direction in the totals department by hitting the 'under' in four of the previous five games, while allowing less than 100 points each time. The home team has won each of the last five meetings between these division rivals, as each of the four matchups in the lockout-shortened season were decided by double-digits.
