Dallas Mavericks: Back-to-back road games await head coach Rick Carlisle and the Mavs (4-1 straight-up, 3-2 against the spread), who will be in New York Friday night to face the Knicks before Saturday's matchup with the Bobcats. Dallas begins the trip having won three straight at home, including a Nov. 3 clash with Charlotte, 126-99 as 9½-point chalk. O.J. Mayo provided the punch for the Mavericks with 30 points, hitting seven of his 10 shots from beyond the arc. The cover was Dallas' fourth in the last five meetings with the Bobcats, and the victory continued the Mavs' success against the Charlotte franchise to 14-0 since it began play in the NBA in the 2004-05 season. Dallas is off to a 4-1 start and tied with San Antonio for the Southwest Division lead despite not having the services of Dirk Nowitzki who remains sidelined with a knee injury (check updated NBA injury report).

Charlotte Bobcats: Coach Mike Dunlap and the Bobcats (1-2 SU & ATS) will also be coming off a road tilt for Saturday's second half of a back-to-back. Charlotte is in New Orleans on Friday for a battle with the Bobcats and looking to stop an early two-game slide that began with the loss in Dallas a week ago. Ramon Sessions came off the bench to lead the 'Cats with 22 points in the loss to the Mavercks, and he added 17 more along with nine assists in last Wednesday's 117-110 setback at home to the Suns. Starting guard Gerald Henderson suffered a foot sprain in the defeat vs. Phoenix, and he is reportedly going to miss between two and four weeks. Charlotte ranks sixth in the NBA averaging with 99.7 points per game, and two of the team's first three contests have finished above the total. The last four meetings between the Bobcats and Mavericks have also jumped the scoreboard tally.

Miami Heat: An extended six-game road trip begins for the Heat (4-1 straight-up, 3-2 against the spread) on Friday in Atlanta before they reach Memphis for Sunday's tilt. The defending NBA champs had played just one road game heading into Friday, and it resulted in their only loss as the Knicks cruised to a 20-point triumph at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 2 when Miami was laying six on the road. The Heat could start this trek without the services of Dwyane Wade, who was questionable for Friday's clash in Atlanta due to illness (click to check updated NBA injury report). Wade and LeBron James are both scoring 20+ points per game for the Heat, who top the NBA charts with a 110.0 points per game scoring average. They played the Grizzlies just once during last season's abbreviated schedule, and Memphis pulled off a 97-82 upset in Miami that stopped the Heat's 17-game winning streak at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Memphis Grizzlies: Coach Lionel Hollins and the Grizz (3-1 SU & ATS) will entertain the Houston Rockets at FedExForum on Friday before taking Saturday off in advance of the Heat's arrival on Sunday. Memphis began the weekend just a half-game behind the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks in the Southwest Division standings, winning and covering the last three contests after beginning the 2012-13 NBA campaign with a loss on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers. The trio of Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph forms one of the top frontcourts in the league, combining to score over 54 points per game while Randolph paces the Association with 15.3 boards per contest.
