  • You know Apples I actually AGREE with your write up for several reasons. First, I agree that Kobe, James, Paul, Garnett and Howard as the 5 best players in the league right now. Second, I would build a team around any of them, including Kobe. Third and most importantly YOU of all these opinionated people actually got my point. To name Lebron the "greatest" ever or even the best ever at this point is crazy. Most people misunderstand these simple facts that they never bother to get out of my post............A. I do not HATE James, I feel very fortunate to be living in a time when this kid is playing. Incredible talent, INCREDIBLE. B. My problem lies with all the talk of Lebron being GREAT at this point. What makes him great, his numbers? He would trade them all for a ring.......guarantee you, he is a competitor. C. I don't for the most part even compare him to Jordan, how can you? He is so young, now Kobe, I see incredible similiarities to Jordan. Plus, Kobe is all about being like Mike. D. You hit it right on the head, I have NO problem with Lebron, just with the media who makes him out to be the greatest ever, and the people (most who argue with me) that buy into as you said that HOGWASH.
    To recap:
    1. One of the top 3 players in the game today, but IMHO Kobe is better.
    2. He is so young, and at this point, probably has done more, although Kareem and Magic did alot at a very young age, including Magic winning a title.
    3. I DO NOT Hate James.......I don't hate anyone. I get frustrated that we throw the word GREAT around with out requiring the kid to really win something. Does anyone realize that Magic was 20 when he replaced Kareem and won the title game with the Lakers......and everyone wants to say that "no one has done what James has done at his age" how about winning the title and the Finals MVP as a 20 year old rookie. And this was not with the "Showtime Lakers"! Food for thought.
    4. NO DOUBT, he WILL be GREAT, and at this point, I think he is all he says he is. Yet less then the media would claim him to be..........he is NO Mike. But time will tell what happens with that. I just feel that winning is such a HUGE part of greatness.
    5. Most importantly, everything we post is OPINION. Because I disagree with the masses doesn't make me wrong and the majority right or visa versa. Time will tell of James greatness, but for now I think that there are alot of people past and present who can stake a claim to greatness before him. But he is definately in the coversation.
I appreciate your post, and I wish others would take a more open mind to people who disagree with what they think to be right. Especially the ones who resort to name calling, I am sorry but it shows alot about their character and actual intelligence. Thanks Apples!

      Fair enough!

Some of the "anti-James" things you said have been reaches in the past, but that post made sense to show your viewpoint 100%. Personally, there are probably 8-10 guys I'd rather have on my favorite team's roster than Kobe, but to each his own, and that's completely fine. GL!

      • All this talk about LeBron. It's possible the next NBA superstar might be Dwight Howard. He's only 22. He became the first player in nearly 40 years to record consecutive playoff games with at least 20 points and 20 rebounds.
