Show me a guy with 300 wins and an Era that high? Wins matter because if you were good enough to get 300 of them, then you are a damn good pitcher, not lucky!

Why don't you use an example that has actually happened!

You can't use Ks alone because that depends on how many innings a guy pitches. Shields is 18th in K/9 innings pitched. I would say 18th is a pretty good rank for Shields this year.

            • who says there wont be a pitcher out there with an ERA of lets say 6 every year and wins 300 games... It could happen without a doubt...If everytime your team goes out and scores 8 runs while you pitch and you give up 6... Can be done!

WOW...there is no sense debating this with you if you believe this. You really do not have a sense of reality.

                  • Disclaimer: I hate the Yankees and don't have an opinion on the bet. I've just been tired of the "most wins = best pitcher" argument since Colon won the Cy Young a couple years ago.

Lovey, all joking asid, in the perfect scenario, how long would someone have to pitch in your opinion to win 300 games?

Every bet comes with a guideline.... 1 person sets them and another agrees.... Simple as that

No pitcher with an era that high would keep a job long enough to get 200 wins, nevermind 300 but some people are clueless.

And I agree with you. But would you really use K's and ERA to decide who is the best? The only other stat I would use other than wins and ERA is WHIP. That is it...the rest is window dressing.
