Would you agree that they have now gone from 'building for the future' to a 'must win in 2 - 3 yr' team?

I watched Tony play a ton coming from Okie State and I loved his game. The dude is tough as nails and is a great scorer. He has a very bright future ahead of him imo.

Honestly no. I think all 3 have 4 solid years left in them. I also think they have plenty of young talent still there. I've watched 3 guys play alot and i think all 3 can be excellent players in this league in C Kendrick Perkins, PG Rajon Rondo and F Tony Allen. Add 2 Rookies from this year in G Gabe Pruitt who i really like and Big Baby Davis who can lean on people, i love this mix and the future!

So the Celtics could've built around Green and Jefferson and been shitty for another 4 years, or they could trade for KG and Allen and be contenders for the next few years. Even if they don't win a title and are just competitive for the next 3 years, at least it will bring excitement to fans, I know I'd be happy as pig in shit if I was a Celtic fan. You can always rebuild in the NBA, and usually it makes no difference unless you get a great number 1 pick, think of all the teams that have been rebuilding for years, and they never get a high enough draft pick to make a difference. I think Jefferson and Green will be ok, but I doubt they'll ever win a championship, unless the T'Wolves finish dead last one year and get Mayo or some other superstar.

              Projected '07 starting 5 .......

              PG Rajon Rondo
              SG Ray Allen
              SF Paul Pierce
              PF Kevin Garnett
              C Kendrick Perkins

Off the Bench will be Tony Allen. Beyond him, the Rookies need to step up or they need to aquire a couple of bench players.

We have been rebuilding for 20 years. That is easy to do every year. Winning games isn't. They have a great mix of young talent with experienced guys. I'll worry about 5 & 6 years from now when they get here!

Rebuilding in the NBA is a joke, getting a chance like this, is so huge for the Celtics, I can't even believe that someone thinks they gave up too much. They weren't going anywhere with that team.

people who don't like this trade are nuts. kg is a hof'er, and one of the best power forwards ever. even if al jefferson develops into a stud, his ceiling is nowhere near what kg still is right now.

also, the celtics youth movement was never going to work, and as soon as they lost the lottery, this was the only way to go IMO. they tried this youth movement for years, and actually drafted pretty well, but it was never going to work. they were going to be stuck in no-mans land for the next 5-7 years, and never be a contender, but never be bad enough to totally rebuild. also, with this youth movement, they had no chance of bringing in any veteran FA's. now they do.

it is very tough to build around youth in the nba to begin with, and impossible when you don't get lucky and land a top 1 or 2 pick. without oden or durant this year, the youth movement was done and they had to do something drastic.

                    i love this move.

I agree. I mean seriously, nobody really knows how good Green and Jefferson will end up. This is a MONSTER Deal for Boston.

How big a Star will KG be going from Minny to a place like Boston?

to a point, but at the same time, so what?

this team is better than anything the youth movement would have ended up, and this team WILL be good NOW, not MAYBE be good in 4 years.

Pierce is a MUCH better player than people realize. one of the best pure scorers in the league. remember what a MONSTER he was in the playoffs in '01-'02?

If you want Celtics tickets you better buy them fast. 3 superstars with little ego, all averaging around 5 assists a game. I'm buying Celtics/Warriors tickets the second they're available.
