I do dislike Bonds but I'm neither a Yankee fan or Red Sox fan. In a critical at bat I'd take Jeter or Ortiz before I'd send Bonds up to bat. History has shown he's a poor hitter in key situations.Originally posted by wayne1218Comment

OBP.....5 of the 22 years it was above 500.......Lifetime it is 445..... still impressive, but not over 500, unless you're isolating just this year, and the conversation was lifetime, history, example Ortiz was just for 2 years extremely good.....
Highest OBP percentage for a career, with at least 3000 AB's, is Ted Williams at .481 Lifetime.........
His 551 OBP in 1941 is STILL the major league record fo a season....with enough AB's to qualify for BA to count....not just a few AB's....
If you want to consider "Clutch" as OBP, then give me Williams, with his OBP and High BA figures.......
But OBP, or BA, is not truly indictative of the best "Clutch" hitter.........That's an entity in itself.......as my 2 previous posts showed.....
This could go on forever----but until it's clearly defined as to what constitutes a "Clutch" hitter, we'll never know, but we will all have our different opinions won't we.....
