  • Barry is a great hall of famer, but everyone knows he cheated. He may have taken the roids for just one year, but he is still a cheater. He wouldve broken the record anyway and been much healthier if he never touched the stuff! Truth is he wanted the attention and he got it. Here are his homer totals from rookie yr to present. What this shows is he wouldve broke it and also when he took the roids. 86' to present: 16,25,24,19,33,25,34,46,37,33,42,40,37,34,49,73!,4 6,45,45,5,26, so far this yr 21.

I guess if barry cheated every hall of famer that played in the last 20 years might have cheated. Anything that gives you a competitive edge would be considered cheating.

1.Too much pine tar on bat

      2. doctoring balls

      3. doctoring bats.

      4. unofficial equipment

      5. other illegal drug usage.

The funny thing is im willing to guess as MANY as 70 percent of major leaugue baseball was using performance enhancing drugs. I dont hear anyone crying about the 6-5 240 pound roger clemens, all the other little twerps who all of sudden hit 30- 40 homeruns(brady anderson, todd zeile, ivan rodriquez, roberto alomar just to name a few.

AND GUESS WHAT, IT(STEROIDS) WASNT ON BASEBALL BANNED LIST.

How many athletes the past 25 years have given themselves a competitive edge in their sport????? Why is everyone crying because barry is going out doing his job not breaking any laws and hates him. If you feel he cheated so much I guess MLB cheated because they never banned the stuff till 2003.

Wonder why they waited so late.

This one gets old quick. Steroids are a felony unless used by cancer patients and such. You are right, it was not in the rule book ... But then again, most crimes are not listed in the rule books assuming you won't commit them. Maybe we should add these to the rule book ... No beating your spouse, No HGH, No armed robbery, no raping another individual and by all means, murder is not accepted in this game. Just to satisfy those who point out that felonies not listed in the rule book, should be allowed.

very good points you make. the game has changed so much from where it was back in the day. dont forget they cut the mound height down and also use a more corked ball today. there will always be a cloud in the future on the last 20 yrs or so. i wish we could go back to the way it was, but i dont think its possible. we know big mac used and then couldnt stand up as a man and admit it and went into hiding pretty much. barry has been arrogant and cant stand up and admit what he did. and yet instead of baseball making a stand they have just pumped this hr chase up to save baseball ratings. barry is a great player and nothing will ever change that. the hr record though will always be a joke.

lets see murders, felonies and getting bigger to improve your game. Dont see the comparison here but I guess if you can compare that with killling and raping that makes it ok.

                NFL- MLB
                ALL CRIMINALS.

Oh I forgot jaywalking is a crime too and so is littering. Lock em up and throw away the keys!!!!

How can you leave out the NBA in that statement? Even their refs are crooked.

It is/was a ILLEGAL drug, just like several others. Whether or not it is on the banned substance list doesn't change that.

Hey we can agree to disagree wayne. Liquor was on the banned list back in the twenties. Put an asterik by the babe's name.

I like 90 percent of males in this country if given half the talent that bonds had if we needed or took performance enhancing drugs to raise our game we would do it. especially to make the money these guys have. You like others cheered them on breaking not only pitching records but homer records filling the stands. Now you want to rip Bonds because he has raised the level of the game and all the others who are long gone and forgotten. Selig, costas other in the media are all hypocrites. Their ripping him now but when this game was dying in the mid 90's after the strike they were looking for saviors and found them. Typical Americans.

                        Dude wake up!

I posted this thread in honor of Barry and as much as i dislike the guy, i have defended him as a pure bred hall of famer since page one. Read up a little before assuming "My" stance on things.

You can dance around it all night long but steroids are a illegal drug and that goes for all that used. If it hurts you to admit that then i can't help you there.

the babe was a partier and if he had taken roids back then his records wouldve never been broken.

I agree, Ruth was an overweight drunk. I'd like to know how that "Improved" his game.

I didnt say liquor was used to improve his game. Wayne argued that the juice was illegal just like other drugs and crimes, which would make barry a criminal.

My point was the almighty babe himself even broke the law as im sure that alot of us at one time did. I guess im trying to say that its really hard for the rest of this country to be perfect since most athletes arent.

I realize I have a different opinion than most here but its nice to have a good debate. Guys have a good evening........
