GREAT ... They will do well outside of football. That doesn't mean anything in the BCS though.

They played 7 bowl teams out of 12 games and went 5-2.

Yes, they lost to the two top ten teams they played.....good point.

Not sure how some might view those bowls teams being good/great/average competition, but I think there is a mix of all.

I agree on the woodshed comment though....LSU is the #2 team in the nation in my opinion and Notre Dame didn't have much of a shot vs them last night.
John, There is a fucken difference in "Losing" to both top 10 teams and getting LAMBASTED in both games.

There are also as many bowl teams in CFB where there are just over 100 teams as in March Madness CBB where there are over 300 teams to choose from. Do you really have a point there cuz we can have fun with that one. So what if all those were bowl teams ... Seriously?

One thing...u say all the conferences signed off...OK...what most forget is the 'GOOD OLE BOY NETWORK' that exists w/in these conferences and schools. The Presidents and such are getting millions for their schools, their pockets and who knows who else is getting rich off this Bunk system. The smaller schools cry but only to an extent where they are thrown a bone and told the bone is better than NOTHING. They shut up and accept it.

I just don't think you are looking at this 'globally' other than saying it is what it is...we both agree that there's no way in hell ND would change it and are getting rich by not bucking the sys or banging down doors to get into a conference...you follow the trail long enough and it always leads to the pot of gold.

The question is WHY and is ND deserving...

Money is WHY and these board of directors or Presidents know this and won't change it. The ONLY way to change this is a complete BOYCOTT of games, merchandise sales and so on...stop the flow of REVENUE and you create a change...do you think American citizens want to give up the sanctuary of CFB...tailgating, games, gambling, drinking and so on....NEVER. Our great great grandkids will still be watching, cheering, gambling on college football...UNLESS something so vile creates a controversy w/in CFB that the masses rise up and say NO MORE.

ND is not deserving, period. Will it change, nope.

Did anyone else notice the conversations during the ass whipping? Not sure if it was subtle but the talk of how ND will be better next year, younger guys getting older/better, Weiss being quoted about being young but getting better. even you just mentioned 2nd recruiting class as if that's going to change things...Geez, is that not one way to keep the ND fans hoping for better next year...HOPE! ND always sells it and ND fans eat it up! 9 SU loses in bowl games has proven that...

Couldn't agree more....and if your one of those conferences getting the chance to beat up on Notre Dame in a high priced bowl game....why WOULD you bitch about it?

Regarding the draft class....I'm one of those that is saving judgement right at the moment for another year or so....just to see what kind of athletes Weis brings to ND. This year its the best class in over a decade, so there might be something to it...but you just never know.

I can't judge this team or Weis with players that he didn't recruit. I think that's a bit unfair...but then again, if he's as good as he thinks he is....then he's GOT to adapt.

Hopefully there is patience for ND fans.....somehow though i'm not sure.

If N.D. was a good team or deserving of a BCS bid, they would have played Michigan and USC within 20 on the scoreboard ... PERIOD!

                LMAO...WRONG.

Woody Hayes didn't want the game anymore.

That's a fact. And i"ll find the article if you want.

                Lets not go there.

Marty, I understand Woody Hayes was dead when they started playing each other again...that's partly the point.

I'm trying to locate the article.

HE was the one that didn't want the game. It was only after he died when the game was played again for another couple years and then dropped again to fit Michigan into the schedule for ND.

Just to name a few John. Do any of those teams strike fear in you cuz they were all "Bowl" teams. Christ, they faced 4 ranked teams this year according to ESPN and went (1-3) in those games losing by 20, 27 & 26. That's a nice showing and an average loss of 24 ppg. What wins by your beloved Irish made you proud this year? Mich St? Purdue? Penn St??? Give me a break. They didn't deserve the bid.

But it was only a two year stint...not 4 years. 95 and 96 when Michigan wasn't on the schedule

I bet on ND because Bry talked me out of LSU. I felt like LSU was playing in the same atmosphere that New Orlean's was playing in when I won my ML bet on the against the Falcon's on Monday night. Should have seen it coming. Not blaming you Bry, I made my choice after thinking about it and looking at their records. Though, looking back, I should have seen what teams ND beat and realized they were simply overrated and outclassed....

How does a mid-major like ND get invited to a BCS bowl year=after-year.
