You're right Rook, ND did exactly what they needed to do, which amounted to being overrated for yet another year. They didn't deserve the ranking they received and I'm sure it was biased to a certain extent. Rutgers, Wake, Ark, Va Tech, W. Virg, were all ranked below them, some with better records and faced better competition. If ND played any of those teams in a bowl game and the game was a pick'em, I'd bet against ND against every one of them. So yeah, they did what they needed to do. Blame the rating system I guess....

Facts aside regarding ND deserving...since you are basing it on current format that YES no one can change yet or argue...the loop holes I'm sure where all creatively created to make sure ND would have a greater than average chance of getting a BCS bowl bid...fine, it's what we currently have and they got their ass kicked again.

HOWEVER, and I'm not attacking you, but do you honestly think after seeing that game, knowing ND's schedule that they actually 'DESERVED' to be in a BCS bowl game...and please don't default back to what you've clearly stated already. Rook, you are obviously extremely biased. They did NOT deserve to be there again. Last night proved they didn't belong on the same field with LSU. Just as the previous 8 proved they didn't warrant BCS bowl participation.

Yes, they met the qualification set out by the BCS committee. However, by your own admission, those qualification only made them ELIGIBLE for consideration. It was not mandatory they received an invitation. The BCS has no OBLIGATION to invite ND to a bowl.

Did they deserve to be in the Sugar Bowl? No, I thought they should have been in the Fiesta Bowl vs Boise State...but since the Sugar Bowl got the first option, I knew where they would go, its a no brainer. To pass up that kind of money and ratings would be insane for those representatives.

It's not bias....yes I am a fan, and I defend them with all the FACTS that I have laid out for everyone. I'm not getting anything in return but simple opinions.....and again everyone is entitled to them. I love this discussion.....I really do.

I could say the same thing about Oklahoma who played an obviously lower class team in Boise State and got beat as well.

Give me all the numbers you want but my eyes don't lie and they were HORRIBLE against great competition and they were lucky to sneak by some VERY average others. You can beat up the service schools all you want but whenever they played a top team they got fucken smoked! I've lost my share of games but there is NO WAY IN HELL i was going to take a N.D. team with an Arena League defense against what was considered by many to be a better team than both USC & Michigan in their Home State.

Well we agree on about everything...

One thing...u say all the conferences signed off...OK...what most forget is the 'GOOD OLE BOY NETWORK' that exists w/in these conferences and schools. The Presidents and such are getting millions for their schools, their pockets and who knows who else is getting rich off this Bunk system. The smaller schools cry but only to an extent where they are thrown a bone and told the bone is better than NOTHING. They shut up and accept it.

I just don't think you are looking at this 'globally' other than saying it is what it is...we both agree that there's no way in hell ND would change it and are getting rich by not bucking the sys or banging down doors to get into a conference...you follow the trail long enough and it always leads to the pot of gold.

The question is WHY and is ND deserving...

Money is WHY and these board of directors or Presidents know this and won't change it. The ONLY way to change this is a complete BOYCOTT of games, merchandise sales and so on...stop the flow of REVENUE and you create a change...do you think American citizens want to give up the sanctuary of CFB...tailgating, games, gambling, drinking and so on....NEVER. Our great great grandkids will still be watching, cheering, gambling on college football...UNLESS something so vile creates a controversy w/in CFB that the masses rise up and say NO MORE.

1st off....nice pick on taking LSU. I took the under so we both were winners.

However I think some may need to look a touch deeper into the schedule.

They played 7 bowl teams out of 12 games and went 5-2.

Yes, they lost to the two top ten teams they played.....good point.

Not sure how some might view those bowls teams being good/great/average competition, but I think there is a mix of all.

I agree on the woodshed comment though....LSU is the #2 team in the nation in my opinion and Notre Dame didn't have much of a shot vs them last night.
