  • Another Example that College football and BCS is a joke

Aside from college football not having a playoff. Another joke is inviting Notre Dame to a BCS Bowl. It was painfully obvious they didn't belong in that game last night. I don't understand TV's and the nations obsession with Notre Dame. They've been an average team for 10-15 years.

I shut the game off before the first quarter ended. I can't remember a game with receivers that open. At times there was no defender within 5 yards.

Yea no shit, from the highlights I seen it reminded of that game vs MSU early in the season where everyone was wide open.

A playoff system is definately needed!!!

One more time I'll remind everyone why Notre Dame gets to play in the BCS bowl games

When the major conferences signed the agreement to the current BCS rules, one of the stipulations in that contract was for Notre Dame.

It said that if Notre Dame won 9 games or was in the top 9 of the BCS standings that they were eligable for a BCS bid.

EVERY SINGLE CONFERENCE HAD TO SIGN OFF ON THIS!

        And they did.

Please don't blame anyone else but every single conference that signed off on this. You don't see one conference bitching and moaning about Notre Dame being in that position. Ask yourself why that is???

Notre Dame got steamrolled.....it is what it is.

But they met the criteria that was set in front of them.

Just like every other team did.

I did too. They played well for a half, but then got punished in the 2nd half. LSU is a GREAT team. Notre Dame isn't.

Hell I expected a better effort from Oklahoma but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't have been in the BCS bowl.

i still stand by what i said. the refs cost nd that game. 1st series 2nd half nd clearly got the turnover and they gave the ball back to LSU. that was HUGH it changed the whole game. i knew right then and their the game was over.

I can't believe I actually teased this up, took ND, and still lost. They couldn't cover 14.5...No bitterness though...

It's amazing how inept they are in big games. Quinn is truly overrated and whoever drafts him is going to be stuck with a guy that possesses poor decision making abilities and what appears to be poor leadership skills as well. You can't totally blame the defense here. They were thrown under the bus by an offense that was on and off the field so fast all night. Credit LSU for being an excellent team, but ND truly blew opportunities to make this a game...

I think the play calling did Notre Dame in.

Weis wanted to pass too much. Hell Darius Walker rushed for 125 yards in the 1st half and ended the game with 128!!

It was 21-14 at halftime...no need to panic or change the game plan...but they did.

Soon they didn't have a choice. and it was too late

                  The key work is ELIGIBLE.

It's not REQUIRED they receive a BCS bowl invitation.

Any Bowl that passes up the monatary value that comes with selecting Notre Dame for their bowl would need their heads checked and some people would be looking for another job.

Just ask the city of New Orleans if they are unhappy with Notre Dame coming to town.

Not one team from another conference bitched about not getting in over Notre Dame.

                    Not one.

We all know what the BCS is all about and that's money, otherwise there would be a playoff years ago. Notre Dame=money. Pure and simple.

Good or bad...it is what it is.

I know why it's done. It doesn't mean they deserve to belong.

That's part of the reason for this thread. What's the nation's and media's obsession with ND? They've been average for 15 years.

That's a lame ass excuse devised by the BCS. The money would be astronomical with a playoff. Let's be realistic here.

Frank, if that was the case, then why hasn't it changed?

Obvioulsy the BCS doesn't think the money would be as much.

I disagree...you disagree...but something must be amiss with it.

                        The obsession with Notre Dame?

DOn't know...but it's something cause they are the only team that has a TV contract for all they're home games.

                        Notre Dame = Money

Dimer, I hope you are joking. While it was a crappy call, LSY could have won by 10 TD's if they wanted. Every play, Russell had his choice of wide open receivers to get the ball to and it was an automatic 8 yds every time they ran it. ND was outclassed and overmatched...don't blame this one on the refs.

I understand what you are saying but.....

I've been in Miami twice during the Orange Bowl. The city is booming. There's not a room to be had. I doubt the city of Miami is disappointed because they didn't land ND.

Of course New Orleans was happy? Would they be any less happy if LSU faced another opponent? Would their be less visitors from other teams in New Orleans? I doubt it.

I highly doubt the BCS bowls suffer if ND does't get an invitation. There's plenty of teams with huge following. You don't think the fans from Michigan, Ohio St, Texas, Florida or dozens of other schools wouldn't attend their team's bowl game? ND doesn't corner the market in fans bowl attendance.

                              then why were they there??

If this is such a horrible team that shouldn't be playing anywhere near new years day in a big bowl game...

why did the Sugar Bowl take em? Why not Boise State? Why not Arkansas? Wisconsin? Texas?
