From what I understand, they compile their ratings and then only accept advertising from the top books, which would make them more impartial than the majority of other rating guides.


I'm not trying to promote their site or anything - I just have always looked to their recommended list first - and I completely understand your position on this.

They compile there ratings! I don't accept advertising from crap books either. No one would think the family of the books that I have on here would make a stop in the USA and especially somehow the feds knew they were on the plane. Because other than that those books haven't had any problems. I've been dealing with MVP for I think the last 4 years and not any problems.

That site you're talking about states not to play at any Costa Rica books which is absurd. Nothing wrong with looking at their recommend list at all. I have one too on BettorsTalk.com My problem is that you came across as making the point that I had shit books on this site which isn't true. I've turned down books in the past that were new or shitty.

Hell I was the one who broke the news on a book years ago that was having problems and got slammed by other sites, the owners of the sites. physically threatened etc. and 2 months later the shit hit the fan with that book. They had to be bailed out by another book then once they got back on their feet they went out on there own again. And they changed the name of the shit book to a new one.

I used to update news on books etc. over at BT, but stoped as its not worth the hassle as you can see from the above paragraph.

From what I hear, the money in all the BoS books is going to be safe anyway, they just can't have activity for awhile.
On another note, do you or have you ever had something similar to their blacklist? Personally that would be more of interest to me.

Funny how we are at war then have problems with Iran and N. Korea, but they Government seems to have time to deal with offshore gambling. However, 44 states have lotteries, 28 states have Casinos, then theres horse racing, dog racing, bingo parlors etc. which are all ok, but they don't want offshore to be ok....can you say hypocrites.

Same with the war on drugs. Alcohol & Cigarettes, and a number of prescribed medicines are perfectly fine, yet they kill more people than any other products and ruin lives. But god forbid I smoke some weed(also may screw your life up, but nowhere near as bad as the others)

Only reason this happened was because of them changing planes in the USA. If it had not been for that I doubt very much there would be a problem.

What I would like to know is that the feds have been investigating caruthers since 1992 when he was in NY and then Florida. Did they arrest him then? If not why not? And they claim they want 4.6 billion from them. You only get to tax a company based on profits and they have not profited 4.6 billion or I should say over 12 billion.

You are almost entirely wrong Monte. A small part of the indictment revolves around the fact that he was a bookie in FL during the early 1990's where he had already been arrested. Kaplan was charged with 20 felonies including wire fraud, RICO Conspiracy, interference with IRS laws, tax evasion and interstate transportation of gambling paraphernalia. BOS and their affiliated companies failed to pay federal wagering excise taxes on $3.3 billion in wagers. Undercover agents in St. Louis opened an account and wagered on-line. Since illegal commercial gambling across state and international borders is a crime and BOS accepted these bets they are breaking the law. This continued alleged criminal activity helped the Feds slap a RICO Conspiracy on them. And to top it off, they shipped some hardware and software from one of their companies in FL to Costa Rica that was used in their sportsbook which is a felony (interstate transportation of gambling paraphenalia). Hey, I think the whole thing is bullshit but the facts of the case needed to be put out there. It really has nothing to do with the shit he did as a small time bookie.

Wrong again. Federal excise taxes are based on volume of activity or sales and not on profitability. Corporate income tax is derived from profitability. Two completely different things. BOS is charged with failure to pay federal wagering excise taxes not income tax.
