I was more nervous in the Mets game with Wagner and a 2-run lead than with Jones and a 1-run lead.

Wagner has never impressed me. Let's see what happens when he's in the NLCS or WS even and the game is on the line.
    Good Luck to everyone
    Adam

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
    Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!

Meaiken...you crack me up...if the Mets get to the NLCS or the WS it would mean that Wagner has done a pretty good job, unless they win every game by 5 runs, which is highly unlikely. You are also the same guy that doesn't think Papelbon is any good...right? too many 2 run saves?

Never said papelbon wasn't good, just hasn't proved anything vs tough competition and 1 run leads. Pap has too many 3run saves

Personally, there isn't really any closer that I would want to leave a game 7, 1-run lead to. I would use a starter in that situation.

okay, fair enough about Wagner...but what has Jones done to make you more comfortable with him than Wagner. He has pitched for 8 teams in 6 years and has done a good job this year, but how can you sit there and look at the back of their baseball cards and say Jones is better than Wagner?

T-Mac...while I like my fellow Met fan Meaiken, this is the guy you are agreeing with...someone who wouldn't trust Mo in a big spot....

Meaiken, all kidding aside. I am not here to say Wagner is the best in the game. But you all give him a bad wrap...since May 13, he has converted 11 of 12 opportunities, 6 of whcih were 1 run games and 3 of which were 2 run games. Exactly what else do you want this guy to do? He had a shitty first six weeks and at times he may give Met fans heart palpitations, but he is getting the job done the last 10 weeks.

3Jack, I am not really worried about the Mets making the playoffs. Wagner has been getting better but u got to admit it's hard to trust any Mets closer since Franco.

What really scares me though is the Braves. Not afraid of ;osing the 12 game lead, but afraid that the Braves are gonna sneak into the wildcard and Adrew Jones is gonna fuck the Mets up like he usually does.

remember, Mets only made the WS in 2000 is b/c they faced the Cards

I hope the Braves dont make it to the playoffs because i agree with Meaiken on this topic.. IF the Braves get in im afraid they will get hot again and run right through the NL straight to the WS..

Meaken, I am sorry, I am trying to give you the benefit of the doubt but then you say something that is just so off the wall. Hard to trust any reliever since Franco? Are you remotely serious? Franco, and I loved him, was a heart attack with every appearance! Wagner has not been awful this year. 4 blown saves in 23 opps is not terrible. Everyone is all over him because he gave away the Yankee game and no one is going to forget that. But he has been very good for 10 weeks now.

As for the Braves, they are not done in the division just yet. It would take a colassal collapse but I am not about to write them off.

I now have a lot more respect for Detroit, as they proved in this series they can defeat the better teams.
