  • Tigers Showing True Colors Again

The Tigers are losing to an upper echelon team once again, which will make them a combined 3-11 against NY, Boston and Chicago.
For some to call them the team to beat I think is really being optimistic unless of course you are referring to the have not teams that they have cleaned up on.
The current odds have them at 4 1/2 to 1 to win the WS while Red Sox and White Sox are at 5-1.
Some say that the reason they have such a poor record againt the good teams is that they caught them when they were playing poorly.
Well, if that is true, the opposite is true now. Tigers have been playing well and the White Sox awful;yet look at the score tonight.
As Wayne stated, this team may be good, but they are starting to remind me of the Seattle team of a few years ago which won 112 games and went out with a wimper in the first round.
If they can't win at least one of the next two against White sox and convincingly, then as far as I am concerned they are pretenders and should be rated at about 7-1 to win WS.

I was thinking the same thing savage. If they can't beat the big 3 and 2 of them are in the playoffs, it WILL be in the back of their minds, and along with the lack of experience, it will hurt them.

They need to win some of these!

3-11 against the top teams and they are for real?
If say the playoffs started tomorrow, and the teams which made it were say Red Sox or even Yankees, Whie Sox, Detroit and whoever represents the West, based on what I have seen so far, I wouldn't give them much chance to advance to WS.
They are pretenders in my mind until proven otherwise;they are a GREAT to bet ON when they play an also ran team, and from a betting point of view, that is what concerns me.

The only thing is, only losing to Chicago, Boston, and New York is still gonna get them into playoffs.

Which means, New York or Boston is shut out.
          Good Luck to everyone

Yup and that's why i said 2 of those 3 will still be left, one of which they will have to beat at some point.

I wanted to bet CWS, but I just couldn't do it. I fely maybe the Tigers would win at home. Oh Well.

To be honest anyone can say anything they want about the Tigers.

Everyone knows my opinion. I don't care if they win the World Series or not. I'm just Happy as Hell that they actually play baseball now. Unlike the last GOD only knows how many years were it was just SICK to watch them.

They come to play every single night. That is why their record is the best in the Majors. You tell me any team that comes as often to the ball field to play baseball. I will tell you BS.

                      Homer,

It must be a blast watching the Tigers these days. I know exactly how you feel. I even called a sports radio show up here and said Leyland should win manager of the year with all 100% of the votes. They were saying maybe he didn't deserve it ... HUH? That's crazy!

I agree, they come to play 7 days a week and are money in the bank on most days. Most teams faulter here and there against the teams they "Should" beat and Detroit has been the BEST at NOT doing that. That is also part of the problem. They do come to play every night and so far against the other "Big 3" in the A.L. ... They have been horrible. It's not because they are not playing hard.

Those teams they should beat won't be in the playoffs and the teams they can't seem to beat will be. That, scares me a little as a Tigers fan but hey, once you are one of the 4 teams in (and they will be), ANYTHING can happen. Just ask the Yankees what a 3-0 series lead got them in '04. I'm pretty sure it's listed somewhere in the history books!

I will say that I agree that anything is possible in the playoffs; but even though it is only one series, I think I were a Tigers fan, I would like to see at least one easy win in the next two days against the White Sox;I mean it has to be demoralizing for the fans and even more so for the players to see White Sox struggling and Tigers playing so well, and for the Sox to beat them so easily tonight.
