Tigers are definately for real. They remind me of the White Sox last year, but the White Sox starting pitching has been off this year and now is coming around. I hate to say it but the White Sox will be there in the end.
Circumstances do not make the man; they reveal him.
Tigers are easily for real.....they will be in the playoffs for sure and with their pitching, they could def. win the pennant.
Its all about who has a hot pitcher or 2 come postseason (look @ WhiteSox rotation last year) and with the guys the Tigers have, they are in good shape. Oh yeah, they have the BEST bullpen in the AL.
Thanx to the entire FORUM for makin the Tigers part of their daily cards.........makes me feel good!
We will start sellin out the joint soon.......just came rather unexpected this year so most of the sellouts need big walkups.....next year season tix will be a much higher % hence a ton morte sellouts.
PEACE
Believe me-the Tigers are one of the first teams I look to bet on each day, as I have confidence they will win. Actually, when they played Chicago, the Red Sox (whom I never bet on or against) and the Yankees, I didn't bet on or against the Tigers because frankly I was scared to.
thanks frank for touching on the manager.....Leyland in my mind is the best manager in baseball.......I think he is worth 10-15 games himself.....I also love the depth of pitching the tigers have and their ability to win close games.....That being said it all means shit unless it carries over to the playoffs....Will it?? I do not know, nor does anybody else...but they have as good a chance as anyone...
I also really like the Red Sox chances and not just because i am a sox fan.....They have some real young arms that are rounding into shape......Lester, paplebon, Hanson and Del Carmen.....I knew Del Carmen would be huge when he got confidence....I saw him in Pawtucket and he was overpowering....He just continues to get better......We also are starting to really hit (except Varitek).....Ortiz and Gonzalez have gotten hot....I mean AG was hitting .168 about 8 weeks ago....now .284.......
It should shape up to be a great 2nd half.....Good luck MCP....it is nice to be still in it in the 2nd half i am sure.......I can not wait for the stretch run.....I think the tigers will not fade....
You guys are all right.......they are a fluke.......30 games over is a fluke
They will be 30 under after the break once everything evens out
I dont know whats gotten into me.........sorry
PEACE
I don't think I saw anyone calling them a fluke...in fact, I know I said they are one of the best in baseball right now. There is a spot between being 'the team to beat' and 'a fluke'...and that is, imo, where they are...a very good team that needs a year or two of success before we call them the team to beat.
But when is Papelbon gonna get a 1-run save?? Three run saves are jokes.
Took a break from vaca for this.
Nice save with a 1 run lead. Guess Papelbon needs more runs to get a save.
Good Luck to everyone

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!
This is just a crazy statement too. I realize you are not a Sox fan but C'MON!!!!!
This guy is talked about daily on the national scene and he is a Rookie closing in the Pressure Cooker called Boston.
He has pitched MORE than 1 inning 10 Times this year and 3 times he went 2+. He has 7 one run saves, 9 two run saves and 10 three run saves BUT, in 3 of those 3 run saves it was a 1 or 2 run lead in the 8th with the opposing team batting and men on base. He got out of it and the Sox added to their lead in the 9th before he finished it off. That is quite deceiving unless you look deeper like i did.
The kid has only given up 2, count 'em, 2 Earned Runs ALL YEAR in 44.0 innings pitched. Please take a minute and think about that while remembering he is a ROOKIE Closer in Boston.
He has only given up 1 HR all year.
He averages 1 Walk every 5 1/2 innings pitched (8 total this year).
He averages 1 Strikeout every inning pitched (45 K's this season in 44 innings).
He has the best WHIP in baseball at 0.68
He has the Best ERA in baseball at 0.41
To even attempt to argue Papelbon right now is crazy. I don't care how big a lead he has 'cause he can't control that. When he does come in, in ANY situation though ... He is LIGHTS OUT!!!
BUMP for meaiken!
Papelbon has not given the other team the lead in 3 blown saves, they were allowed to just tie it up and the Sox are 2-1 in those games with the one loss coming yesterday (BEFORE your post).

And who are the 2 wins against
Good Luck to everyone
