Texas where papelbon came in, in the 8th with a guy on 3rd and gave up a single. The Sox scored in the bottom of the 8th to take the lead back and papelbon blew them away in the 9th and actually got the win.

The other was a Win against Philly after coming in, in the 8th and preserving the lead, he gave up a solo shot to Utley in the 9th that tied it right near Pesky's Pole! Walk off Papi??

So i guess that's good than because they won't be in the playoffs and he was (8-0) in save chances against the Mets,Tigers,Yanks,Blue Jays and White Sox before yesterday!

I stand by my statement that ANY GM, all of whom know how to evaluate pitchers better than any one in this forum, would JUMP at the opportunity to have Papelbon on his team and would gladly sacrifice their own closer in return and in many cases throw in a lot more to get him;his stats don't lie, and one home run to Jermaine Dye changes nothing.
Lets be real here;the Red Sox would NOT be in first place and have a lead of three games without him. Thats enough for me!

ps For anyone who doubts how important the closer is in baseball and to the Red Sox, just go back a couple of seasons and compare the confidence you had as a Sox fan with Bunghole Kim coming in to pitch in the ninth to save the game with that of papelbon.;even when he(Kim) got a save, a lot of those outs were caught against the wall or hard line drives, quite a far cry from what Sox have with "Lights Out" Papelbon.

You know what? If I were then owner of the Sox, it wouldn't bother me in the least if I found out that Papelbon worshipped the ground on which George Bush stood;he could still pitch for the Sox. He might be required to listen to Ted Kennedy speak on a daily basis though.
