Current odds ad WWTS have Boston +450, Chicago +500, Detroit at +650 and Yankees at +650 to win WS.
If nothing else, it shows that Vegas doesn't perceive the team with the best record, the Tigers, as the team to beat, not yet anyways.
Personally, I would make them and and the Yankees the same at +550.
Believe it or not, the Mets are still +350 to win it all. I know they have an easier path to get into the WS, but still I don't think any NL team is worthy of anything better than +600 at this point.

ps-experience counts for something in the playoffs and that is where I think both Sox teams(and for that matter Yankees) have a decided edge over the Tigers.
Personally, I think all of the above teams are better than any of the teams in the National League, and I agree with somone on the Fox Radio network who said the Jays are probably better also than all of the teams in the NL.

Still didn't answer my question. Papalpon has very few 1 run saves (a true save). 3-run saves are SHIT

Those odds are simply on history.....obviously more people would bet on Boston or ChiTown than Detroit.....

Its a matter of opinion I guess. yes Tigers have the best record for now, but as we all know, in many cases the team with regular season record does not win the championship.
Personally I would rate Red sox and White Sox as the co favorites with Detroit a close third and then a big dropoff to 4th(probably the Mets).
ps If i knew for a fact Yanks would make the playoffs, I would have them tied with Detroit if not in from of them.
Also, say what you want about Sox starters, but we got Papelbon, something Sox teams have not had in other years-a GREAT closer.

Experience doesn't mean anything. The Florida marlins won twice with no stars

you might be correct. IMO detroit just isnt a playoff team this year. I think they are 1 yr away.

Polanco cant hit?(MLB batting champ last year) Monroe cant hit?(20HR and 90 rbi last year, doing it again this year) Inge cant hit?(on pace for 30 bombs from the bottom of the lineup) Shelton is a flash in the pan? (last I checked he hit almost 300 last year and hes been at 280 most of this year) Guillen cant hit?(guy might be the best hitter on the team)

Zumaya and Rodney anchor the pen and we have more pitching in the minors than I care to even name (check Miner for now)

We are loaded guy.....BTW I like the easy answer OVERRATED......just try and reason it better next time

                PEACE

polanco is hitting 285 monroe is a place that changes my oil. Inge??? you're not seriously threatening me with INGE. GOT INGE?? c. sheldon is a flash in the pan. he wouldnt even be a starter on either the red or white sox. Guillen? I dont know whats hurt more. Carol Guillen or the pizza hut lunch buffet after I'm done with it. Caroline Guillen could be the biggest p**sy in mlb bar none.

So there you have my "reason". no easy answer from me.

Obviously you dont know baseball then........you are used to a team of stars so names like Inge and Monroe dont make mch sense to you.......Lemme explain this to you......players win games.......not big names and payrolls.

Just because you dont like Inge doesnt mean he isnt a player who is on pace for 30HR.......Polanco is a great #2 hitter......Guillen is a great hitter from both sides of the plate.......We can argue on this for hours but the bottom line is pitching and timely hitting and the Tigers have the best pitching. Bonderman is prolly better than any pitcher on the Yankee roster. Sure the Tigers arent sexy but I for one last year thought the White Sox were bound to collapse at some point because they didnt have a build up to what they did and now people cant get off their DICKS. I know there are still 70 games left and I am not the kind of person who says 'well the WILD CARD will come from the central so the Tigers are in'.

I just love what I see so far but I also know that a 9 game lead with 10 to play isnt safe. I also think Rogers is historically a better first half pitcher so who knows what we will get from him in the second half. Verlander has never thrown more than 130 frames so who also knows what will come from him.

One place where I do love what we have that nobody can match IMO is Leyland and Dombrowski. Dombrowski can wipe his ass with Cashman and IMO Leyland is the best MGR in the game.

Again you can blab all you want about oil changes and Pizza Hut but if yer gonna debate try to sound just a bit different from a drunk guy at 3AM

                  PEACE

Don't say anything. What about those Yankee teams in the 90's that won a number of World Series with virtually the same players.
There are always exceptions to rules;for my money the Vegas odds are about right.

Lets put it this way then if you are not convinced: if Red Sox decided that right now they wanted to trade Papelbon, how many GM'S would NOT be interested and/or if given the chance, would NOT swap their own closer even up for him including the Tigers, White Sox and even Yankees(consider the age of Papelbon and Rivera).

As muc has I hate to say this and as much as I hate the Red Sux but I have to admit.. I would take Pap over any closer in MLB and that includes the REAL Sandman Rivera.. The ONLY reason I would is the exact same reason savage just gave and that is the AGE FACTOR..

The only reason the Yankees might not is that it is Papelbon's first season, and they might not be convinced especially when comparing his one year stats to those of Mariano to many years.
I think with just about any team it would be a slam dunk at this point including the Mets.
